Retro808
You need to provide a little more info. What were you adding, how were you adding, anything related to what you were doing exactly when you go this error.
Spit-Nick
I'm adding a shortcut to a windows game, as I've done thousands of times and it always worked out, but this time, when it's in the final part where it was supposed to appear the name of the game for launchbox get the data on the net, give this error. I would like to know if there is a way for me to recover any kind of backup prior to this problem and which file should I recover from launchbox. Spit-Nick
Seriously that even with the log posted nobody knows what this is? I will not be able to use the program anymore? I have over 300000 games added and just now gave this problem? Can't recover at an earlier date?

Jason Carr
Hadn't seen this until now. Unfortunately this does mean that one of your XML files is corrupt, which can on rare occasions happen when the app is killed. You should have automatic backups available in the LaunchBox\Backups folder, which should be relatively easy to restore. Just restore one of them to your LaunchBox\Data folder, and overwrite the existing files. Or, if you can still run LaunchBox, you can use the built-in restore utility. Thanks for the reply Jason, but the error still remains. Tried both ways and did not work with backup until 1 month before, always give the same error. I even tried to add another game from another platform and the same error happened. What xml files besides these backup could you restore? Jason Carr
Hmm, I see. Maybe it was a corrupted metadata download. Try deleting the following files while LaunchBox is closed: LaunchBox\Metadata\Files.xml LaunchBox\Metadata\Mame.xml LaunchBox\Metadata\Metadata.xml Hopefully that will fix it. Will doing this have any side effects? Erasing all the images and data from the games I have? Thank you for your help.
Jason Carr
Just now, Spit-Nick said: Will doing this have any side effects? Erasing all the images and data from the games I have? Thank you for your help. Nope. It won't affect any of your game data. It's a local cache of the metadata on the LaunchBox Games Database, and if it gets corrupted, it can cause issues like this.
