OSIAS
I know this isn't a launchbox issue I am coming here because I know many people here have had to have dealt with it and have got to have a resolution. I am getting no where and I have tried multiple approaches and again I just must be missing something. Everything is connected via USB and individually connected at that minus my spinners 4 individually connected arcade sticks 2 Individually connected track balls 2 Spinners tied to 1 board connect through 1 usb 2 light guns individually connected I have everything recognized and being picked up and calibrated in windows. My issue is mapping this out to the various emulators mainly MAME or RA as individual controllers, sure I can get them all to work but they all control all players. In MAME I just tried the tab and remap but it doesn't see any of them as separate inputs. I have tried to do it this way in this video but mame wont even launch after I map it like this. I followed the basic tutorial in this forum and that doesn't cover what I have built. I have searched high and low and I just feel lost not sure what to do next. Please get a frustrated soul back on track. Thank You
fromlostdays
I can't really help in MAME, but if windows recognizes each controller as a different controller, then in Retroarch you should only have to go into Input/Port 2 Binds/Device Index and change it to the second controller ID, and then Port 3 Binds Port 4 etc. That should cover joysticks, at least. In terms of track balls and lightguns, thats all over my head, but in RA it should work in a similar way. If they all have different IDs in Windows, it should be possible to map them all on per core, and then per game configs in Retroarch, but I don't know if its possible to map 2 different controllers to one Device Index (In other words, if a game uses a joystick AND a trackball for player 1) I'm not sure how to set that up. OSIAS
The arcade sticks are not the issue. Its the trackballs - spinners & lightguns - I haven't really started trying to get them working in RA yet becuase I haven't gotten past the hurdle of Mame. I can't get the system to differentiate they are all mice to MAME and they all control Player 1 & 2..
Headrush69
MAME is by far the easiest to set up. To be safe, set up static device IDs just to be safe, even if you change USB plug in order, you don't have to worry about device re-ordering: How to set static device IDs in MAME SInce MAME treats spinners, trackballs, light guns, etc all as mice, you have to decide whether you want all those devices to work at the same time, or just once specific device per game. Setting multimouse = 1 in mame.ini will allow MAME to see each device separately rather all as one mouse. (There are so advantages to both, but I use multimouse and tune the specific device for specific games. Edit: Once you enable multimouse in mame.ini, you will see each spinner, trackball and lightgun will appear as a different mouse device. You can than set within mame as you please. OSIAS
Okay that is not solving it 100% did solve the track ball issue. I don't want to attempt to map ID's yet again till i undestand what is going on. I know for a fact that MAME sees the lightguns and the spinners and gives them a device and code. However when I click tab and player inputs and then select to remap and move the device I want to be re-mapped its not picking it up. I see the mouse moving across the screen but doesn't pick it up and remap like it did for the trackballs. It picked up for the trackballs Mouse 6 Y etc. So yes I still need to figure out the stable ID's but whats going on with mame not pickup up the other mice even though I know if I do a verbose out it is picking them up? Please Advise Edited January 25, 2020 by OSIAS
Headrush69
Do you have all your devices set to use mouse? So within mame.ini you hve a section like this: Quote paddle_device mouse adstick_device joystick pedal_device joystick dial_device mouse trackball_device mouse lightgun_device mouse positional_device none mouse_device mouse Can you start mame.exe or mame64.exe from a command prompt like this: Quote mame64.exe -v and post the device output section. Headrush69
Try this: Quote <mapdevice device="VID_05FE&PID_0011" controller="MOUSECODE_1" /> //belkin mouse <mapdevice device="VID_04B4&PID_120F" controller="MOUSECODE_2" /> //trackball 1 <mapdevice device="VID_04B4&PID_6260" controller="MOUSECODE_3" /> //trackball 2 <mapdevice device="VID_0483&PID_5710" controller="MOUSECODE_4" /> //Spinner 1 & 2 <mapdevice device="VID_D209&PID_1601" controller="MOUSECODE_5" /> //Gun 1 Mouse <mapdevice device="VID_D209&PID_1606" controller="MOUSECODE_6" /> //Gun 2 Mouse <mapdevice device="ATRAK Device #1" controller="GUNCODE_1" /> //Gun 1 Buttons <mapdevice device="ATRAK Device #6" controller="GUNCODE_2" /> //Gun 1 Buttons The mousecode increments for every mouse device as seen by MAME. You can add entries for your joysticks as well. My GUESS is your encoder for your spinners combines the 2 axises into a single mouse device. So when you map controls in MAME, one maps to the x-axis and the other to the y-axis. If so the above should work. OSIAS
Same problem with controls not mapping seems to be working with trackballs and arcade sticks - but same as before for spinners and lightguns. I can hit tab - go into a player and select - dial/gun/paddle Y or X and move the mouse on the screen with that physical item IE the spinner or lightgun but it will not pick it up in mame and map it. If I instead move a trackball or an arcade stick it picks it up and maps it NP.
