Scraping FInalBurn 2020-01-06 Neo set

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I'm attempting to have a separate MAME and FinalBurn NEO playlist (want FB as an option when I'm playing on weaker hardware) and I acquired the 2020-01-06 romset. I didn't see a way to scrape Final Burn Alpha or Neo, so I scrapped for Arcade and only ended up with maybe 1/4th or 1/5th of the roms successfully scrapped, the rest just ended up as filenames. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this set too new?

Did that FB romset come from a Mame set? We always recommend scraping any arcade system as "Arcade". I have SNK NeoGeo as a separate platform and it scrapped all the games just fine.

I had scraped as Arcade but had to toggle the Force MAME Metadata option to get them to scrape properly.

Yeah that makes sense, as i assume they are using the MAME shortnames, and Launchbox doesnt know how to scrape those unless it knows to use the MAME naming scheme.

I imported Final Burn Neo using the Import MAME full set option and it scrapped it fine.  I also wanted to have two separate MAME and FBN playlists.  Doing it the way I did they both show up under Arcade.  You can build child playlists for each but they have so many categories it seems ridiculous.  Is there any way to reduce the number of catagories?

Well first error was using the MAME importer for a FBA romset, you will have a ton of games in that platform that are not actually in a FBA romset now.

As for playlists dont auto create them and just make your own.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "that are not actually in a FBA romset now." Seemed to work fine.  I just wanted to get rid of the dupes and hacks and casino, etc.

But what happened to the playlists?  It wasn't generating 180 different categories a couple of days ago?

The MAME fullset importer does not scan your roms, it assumes you have a fullset and just adds the known working games. A FBA romset is not the same as a MAME romset, it contains less games. So using the MAME importer Launchbox will of added games to that platform that you simply do not have as they are not in the FBA romset.

What do you mean 180 playlists, thats just not true, this is all the playlists Launchbox gives you the option to create automatically.
