Is this a cloud games service?

Something I've been looking for for a long time ...

Is this something that lets me connect to a big database of games/metadata stored in the cloud - and launch games I want to play on emulators running on my local machine?

I've been hoping such a thing exists somewhere for a long time - but never found anything that quite fits the bill. Ideally emulator configs will be in the cloud too, so it's literally just log in, click, and play.

As a game historian and journalist I want easy access to any game I want to play, on any platform, for research purposes. I've been using emulators for retrogaming for 25+ years so have experience of setting up just about every multi-emulator front-end that's come along - as well as hunting unsavoury corners of the internet for TOSEC sets,no-intro sets etc, and keeping everything up to date. But I can't be bothered with that any more - even if it means paying a subscription fee, I'd rather just let someone do it for me and keep everything up to date in the cloud - I'd just have to make sure I have the latest emulators installed.

Is this sort of setup possible with LauchBox?

For games and emulators you're on your own.

Launchbox does have an enormous database for media and metadata and the media can be expanded further with an emumovies account subscription. So if you import your own games into launchbox, you will get a lot of metadata and media for them. But no, not exactly what you're asking for. I don't think that will ever exist, but with a little work:

This is quite doable in Launchbox.
