MAME Game Setting for High Scores

Hi all,

I apologise if this has been covered elsewhere, but I searched and couldn't find the answer.

My highscores are not uploading. I've done all steps in the threads and tutorials and everything seems to be in order... this got me thinking, I couldn't find anywhere where it mentions the game settings in MAME. For example, in Bubble Bobble you can press tab and set the game to easy, normal or hard, also lives 1 to 5 and at which scores you get a bonus life. There should be a standard for this right? To level the playing field. Do you reset it to default and if so, how?

Maybe that's why my scores are not uploading. (I did achieve a high score and the file shows in the correct directory, also the ini is correctly edited.)

Does anyone know the answer to this?

If you have changed dip switches your scores are ignored for upload. We need to maintain a level playing field, so default settings only, any tampering will not be uploaded.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I have unfortunately altered many games' dip switches (before cloud sync I was just playing "offline"), how do I know what the default settings was? I did a quick Google search but couldn't find any info. It explains what the dip switches do, but not what default settings are. I also didn't see an option in MAME, unless I didn't look in the correct place.

I'd rather have my dip switches set to play the game how I enjoy them then compete for high scores but the feature was fun while it lasted.

I hear you, that's why I changed them. I just wanted to play around with the high score feature for a bit, but it's a bit finicky to get working. Eventually I'll revert to setting it the way I enjoy it most.

Thanks again everyone for the help and advice!
