Hi LB,

1.Doe anyone here use WD My Passport (5400 rpm) portable drive on emulation such as PS2, Dreamcast, PS3, Wii U?

2.How does it perform?

3.If you have recommendation, what External HDD I should use for emulation?

I need an External HDD for portability as much as possible, external HDD that do not use external power supply.

Note: I have Seagate Backup Plus HUB external hard drive 8tb, contains full PS2, DreamCast, PS3 and Wii U Games/Roms and it is stuttering every time.

I also have WD My book 4tb (5400 rpm) and it works well, the problem is, It needs to be connected to the outlet in order to work.

I’m using a 5TB Seagate 2,5” and it works fine. I think the brand doesn’t matter if it comes to performance or reliability, I have several and it’s just a matter of “luck” if they live or die so to speak. Keep a backup regularly, in my case, every single time I change or add something to LB, I back it up immediately afterwards.

Sorry to bother you, it is a little OT.
How do you backup? Do you use some specific software or just a raw copy? I don't know what is better.
Thank you!

I use Vice Versa since over 15 years already. It’s not free, but for me it’s the best personally. I backup to a NAS.
But there is also some very good free sync software out there, I wouldn’t suggest a raw copy method. Mirroring is the best way.

Thank you! Seems Vice Versa plus should be enough for me. I'll study a little it but I think sync fil is the best way yo backup
Thank you again!

I keep some packs of roms on external drives. I would like a bigbox bootgame screen to tell me: "Insert this external hard drive and press a button" ... Do you think it can be done?

No, I think max is 5TB, as far as I know. And that already since long time, I also thought, and hoped, bigger ones would come out at some point.

Btw, I use the Seagate Backup Plus Portable 5TB.

Maybe the larger the size, the more power needed to run hard drive. that is why there are no portable 8TB yet.

I ordered 5TB WD HDD that is dedicated for gaming. Hope that it runs well with pcsx2, cemu, yuzu and rcps3 emulator.
