stacymc
Hi guys has something changed with launching mame? It won't launch any games from launchbox (it was fine & working) yet if I try to launch from mame itself via right click open mame & search the game it runs fine. You say you re-imported today, are your roms now in a different path? Have you updated your mame.ini to point to that new path?
stacymc
Same place they always were.it just shows loading splash screen then back to launchbox.

What actually happens when you try to launch from launchbox? Turn off the startup screens for a minute so you can see if MAME briefly launches behind that. Also right click a game and choose "Open MAME" does MAME open?
stacymc
Yes if I right click open mame it opens.i can see another tab starts to open but closes & fails. The roms are in the "roms" folder of mame.i cannot see anything in the mame config file that points to roms path Edited November 1, 2020 by stacymc

neil9000
So your roms are definitely stored in the emulators roms folder? What was the reason for a re-import in the first place, was something wrong, or has it broken since you messed with it and re-imported. As far as im concerned if a right click opens mame from Launchbox then the emulator path is correct, that just leaves the rom path.
stacymc
I did a re import in the vain hope it would sort this problem out lol. Unfortunately same problem exists.
neil9000
Also why do you have a absolute path to your inipath in the ini and everything else is using a relative path? Is D:\arcade\mame the correct path to the emulator folder? Cause if MAME cant find and read the ini, then that would be a problem
stacymc
Not sure tbh,I've never touched the .ini ever before thought it auto generated it. I have altered the roms path, maybe I need do the exe of mame to. In answer to your question the mame exe is in that folder yes tho. stacymc
Altered it to match the roms path,so deffs right. When turn splash screen of it shows it trying to open mame but doesn't actually open it.
stacymc
It only opens mame if I right click a game & select open mame. If i just double click to launch ,mame briefly try to start but doesn't open.
Retro808
Did you recently update Launchbox? Can you share a pic of your Launchbox's mame set-up? >Tools>Manage Emualtors and edit mame. Post a pic of the main tab and the Associated Platforms tab.

Yeah I just checked and I do not have those boxes ticked either and LB runs the games. What version # is your Mame?
Lordmonkus
Weird, I haven't touched my setup in a while but those boxes always needed to be checked.
