228 merged roms

I downloaded the 228 merged roms on pleasure dome and im getting missin files on mame alone , i thought merged roms were a full set and didnt need anything else?can someone just tell me what all i need for each set 

merged set and ? 
splitset and ? 
non merged set and? 
chds and ?
 

also if i add bios it asks to replace files shold i be replacing or skipping

Thanks but it dosnt explain why my merged set is missing roms or chds when it should be complete and it dosnt mention when i need bios or chds , sorry i am a noob

The merged set and chd set are separate downloads. Your merged set shouldn't be missing any roms.

Are you talking about actual missing roms or are you talking about in Launchbox after importing ?

How big is your merged roms folder?

I havent put mame into launchbox yet till i get games workin , every one i click on the big ted banner shows up saying misding roms or chds and ive dowloaded the file 3 times

Did you put your roms in the /roms sub folder of your mame folder or did you tell Mame where to look for your roms if you have them elsewhere.

They are in a folder in roms folder , should i take them out of the folder?

No, you can have them wherever you want but you need to tell mame where that is.

Do you mean like mame/roms/Mame 0.288 Roms or something.

Then move your roms into the /roms folder, no sub folder.

You have 13700 romsets, not 37955, as do i, that is the correct amount.

I moved them into rom folder with no sub folder and went to the ini and pointed to rom folder and still the same

My guide explains what to do with the roms and how to get Mame to work.

If your roms are in the /roms sub folder of Mame and not a sub folder you do not need to tell Mame in the mame.ini where they are. /roms is the default location.

No, your romset is fine, its the same as mine, which works. Its your emulator/rom location that is the issue, not the roms themselves.

If you messed up the ini file just delete it and let Mame generate a new one.
