Editing Lists

Is it possible to edit/create a list without getting stuck in the playlist window?  While I'm trying to create a playlist it becomes overtly apparent that I don't have every Field and Value memorized and I stare blankly at the screen trying to recall any of them.  Is there a way to open one to edit it and also be able to interact with the lists and games?  To be able to double check without having to close out the new list, go to the games and look up the info and head back to the list to reopen and edit?

If making a manual playlist you can just right click the games you want to add and use the "Add to Playlist" option in the context menu. If using an auto-populate list you can tab to the games tab which will update in real-time after changing the filters on that tab. Third option if you are on 11.18 beta 4 is to use the real-time filter feature to get the values you want and then let it create the playlist based on your filter selections.

Thank you :)
Yea, I'm on the Beta.  It's not being able to retrieve information to help create the list in real time.. Yes, you can see the real time "results", but you can't act on them to further streamline the list unless you happen to have knowledge about whatever "genre" (for example) is assigned to any particular game ahead of time.. some have multiple.  So those "filter selections" are entirely limited by your knowledge of the particulars from these games.  You can't interact with them to look up further info to help create the filter (that I am able to find at least) .

On the beta you can use the real-time filter button (by the search bar) and see only values that pertain to games in your currently selected platform/category so I'm not real sure what you mean. After using the filters you can navigate the content view and even select games to see their information without the filters clearing at all, so I'm not sure I understand what you mean.

For example.. I want to make a playlist for my Android.. Since it's the first Arcade game on the list I figured it'd be the best way to explain.  So I left it's info on the background since I  am unable to interact with it after the filter is open..
Those 2 filters only remove the Shooter / Guns and Sports / Basketball

Results.. It doesn't seem to be working for one.... as well as I want to add more fields to the filter

As I filter them out.. where can I get more of the pertinent info on a random game that I can use in the filter auto populator (genre in this example)  as I whittle down the games further..  WITHOUT closing the editor..

You are talking about the filters within the Add/Edit Playlist form. I'm talking about the button to the immediate right of the search bar on the main LaunchBox window. Push that button and you can select the filters, then browse the games and make any decisions you need about any additional filters you want to have, OR can create a manual playlist, then it's just the matter of right clicking the game and putting it in the playlist.

Also as a note having two "Not Equal To" filters in an auto-populate playlist is pretty pointless currently and will NOT net you the results you are looking for anyway. When using the same field multiple times each comparison is compared with an OR and so two fields using that comparison type will always return everything.

May be easier to help you out if you explain what type of playlist you are ultimately wanting? We may be able to use that as an example to help you get to where you need and teach you along the way to make things easier moving forward.

Is it possible to retrieve a playlist you've made in Launchbox, when you've forgotten to tick a box (like "root" or w/e) in the "parents" tab?

If you are using a view such as Platform or Platform Category in LB you can change the list view to "Playlist" and it should show up.

If I click on the three horizontal lines at the top left corner of the LB screen and choose "View" then "Arrange by", I have:

"Play Count"

"Play Mode"

"Play Time"

But no "Playlist"...

Not the "Arrange By". In the left hand pane where all your platforms and playlists look just above that list and you should see a dropdown (not sure what theme you are using) you can change how that list appears. That drop down box can change to Platform, Playlist, Platform Category, Play Mode, and so on.

I found the .xml file in LB folder's "Data" folder, in the "Playlists" folder, so it's still there, but just won't show up in my LB interface.

Maybe there's something I can alter in the .xml file to make it show up? Like

"<IncludeWithPlatforms>false</IncludeWithPlatforms>"

type "true" instead of "false" maybe?

I don't get why no box is ticked by default in the parents tab, it's so easy to forget ticking one and just lose it...

Got it! Finally, problem resolved! Thanks a lot for your help! :)
