Drybonz
There are a lot of things I like about the new default theme... I can tell a lot of time went into it and it is much more polished than the old ones... but there are things most of us are going to want to customize and change. Because the changes are done in the .xaml files instead of gui options, most of us are not going to know how to make the changes we want to make... in fact, we are going to have to rely on a handful of people to customize themes for us, and they are still never going to meet everyone's personal preferences because everyone is different. My personal thoughts on a solution is to make far more gui options for changing themes, or a basic, minimal separate app for visual theming... I don't know, there are probably better solutions. Regardless, for now... people are going to want to know what lines to change in the .xaml to customize the things they want. I don't know of a thread to give feedback on the default theme, or to ask for support on customizing so I thought I would start one. Just leave a comment with what you want to customize in the new default theme (for other themes probably best to use existing support threads) and hopefully someone on the forums will be able to help out.
Drybonz
I would like to adjust the fade-in times for the images in the game details panel. If anyone can point this section of the .xaml out for me, it is most appreciated. Thanks.
Retro808
Feedback about the Default theme aside, to get help with customizing a theme and even really learning to do basic coding we have a support thread for xaml coding. Please use that instead of starting another thread that will provide the same information already going.
Drybonz
Great... thank you for that... I didn't even know about that thread. People could use this thread for feedback... or better yet, maybe start a "default specific" feedback and support thread in the launchbox themes for windows section. Probably better if it is started by you guys instead of me anyway. Thanks again. *edit* I think the reason I didn't know about that thread is I don't use Bigbox and I don't check that forum. Then you can edit that. In the new theme's \Views folder edit the GameDetailsView.xaml. I have not looked in the Default theme in a long while but typically animations are controlled by a Storyboard. In the view xaml look for a section of Code either labeled <!-- Storyboards --> or search for the word Storybaord. You would want to edit the timing there. There may be multiple storyboards so you would want to look at what it is triggering.
Khenemet Heru
In the Default (old) and Default Legacy (old) themes I could set the box art to be displayed in an area defined as a square, with a colorized frame or not, which resulted in the bax fronts all being proportionally sized according to the aspect transparently over a square area, and displayed 4 across or 3 across or whatnot by scale of the interface. How do I do that with the new default theme? Currently it places all my boxes in a vertically oriented invisible "frame" that results in, for example, Super Famicom box fronts being 3 times the size of Super Nintendo boxes, seemingly due to the vertical nature of the former, and there doesn't seem to be any way to resize things so they are all equally the same within a given area (Super Famicom box HEIGHT being equal to Super Nintendo box WIDTH, transparently over a square area). The Window layout and fonts and all are nice, but the way it's displaying my boxfronts is horrendous compared to the old, old way... Dynamic resize is off, that made the box fronts problem worse; and I've tried various vertical and horizontal spacing settings; is there something I'm missing? (I only use Launchbox, not BigBox btw). C-Beats
You can mix and match files in a theme. I'd copy Default (the current one) to a new folder named whatever you want, and then copy your BoxesContentView from the theme you already altered to the new folder.
