My Top 5 changes from day to day.  There are so many retro games out there.  I started with the Atari 2600 and am still gaming today.  I am mostly a retro gamer, but when I play modern games now days it's via Steam.

Twisted Metal 2 - PS1

Command and Conquer - PS1

Mario Bros - Arcade

Tempest - Arcade

Space Armada - Intellivision

In no particular order but definitely "TOP 5" games that are high in play count in LB/BB as well as on original hardware. If only I had an actual Addams Family Pinball cab. I do have a SFII Champion Edition cab though.

Resident Evil 2 - Playstation

Batman: The Video Game - NES

Street Fighter II Champion Edition - Arcade

Zelda: A Link to the Past - SNES

The Addams Family - Pinball (This one consumed many hours when I ran an arcade/mini golf place in the early 90's. First pinball I really learned to play as a game versus just hitting the flipper to keep the ball alive).

This is so hard to whittle down to just 5. I'm going to go with games that had the biggest impact on my gaming life over the years. Ugh even then, so many great games not mentioned that still had a lot of impact.

Legend of Zelda NES

Mortal Kombat

Castlevania Symphony of the Night

Red Dead Redemption 2

Destiny 2

Impossible to narrow down, but the 5 games that have had the biggest impact on me over the years (and yes I'm old enough to have played them all at launch)

The Hobbit (1982) - ZX Spectrum

Super Mario Kart (1993) - SNES

UFO: Enemy Unknown (X-Com: UFO Defense) (1994) - PC

GoldenEye 007 (1997) - Nintendo 64

Grand Theft Auto III (2001) - Playstation 2

Just noticed that hamsnibit has just posted before me. Almost the exact same reason for listing their favourite games - impact. I've not listed any games from the last 20 years although there would be loads. These are the first 5 that really made my jaw drop.

Oh man. Top 5 games. Hard to choose. I'll probably go for nostalgia:

- Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock (Wii)

I've played this game for hours daily when I was a teen. This (and the other GH games) shaped my taste in music so much.

- Pokemon Pearl (DS)

My first Pokemon game. The first one always holds a special place in my heart.

- Batman: Arkham City (PC)

My first Steam game. I remember taking about a day to download it with shitty wifi, but it was worth it.

- Far Cry 3 (PS3)

I recently did a replay of this on the PC and still loved it. Also the multiplayer was awesome too.

- Harvest Moon DS

Probably the game I put the most hours in on my DS. There was always something I could improve.

Soooo this is it

A top 5 is super hard to narrow down but here are some definite all-timers. Personality traits, even.

  • Pokémon White (2011 NDS)
  • Kirby Super Star Ultra (2008 NDS)
  • Xenoblade Chronicles (2012 Wii)
  • VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action (2016 Windows)
  • Final Fantasy VII (1997 PSX)

If you asked me a week ago, I would have said something else: but Breath of the Wild is magnificent. I just started playing it, and there are so many great things going on at one time....

Following that up, it is my personal preference with Final Fantasy 7 (original) for best retro game, or, Rebirth, for those who want a modern feel.
