Scenario #1:
You're looking through your collection and you notice a game is missing an image. (An Arcade Cabinet in this case)
image.thumb.png.960a9553b025e0c70121d37da7131e58.png

Solution #1:

  • Edit the game
  • Go to Media < Images
  • Click Download Media
  • Click Uncheck All
  • Check Arcade Cabinet
  • Switch to the EmuMovies tab
  • Click Uncheck All
  • Click Download
  • Arrow through the images until you get to the newly added images
  • Find the one you want and click Remove Image on each of the others
  • Click OK to save

Solution #2:

  • Open this plugin
  • Click Arcade - Cabinet
  • Double-click which image you want to add
  • Close the plugin

Scenario #2:
You have multiple Arcade Cabinet images in your collection, and you've discovered you can only ever see one-at-a-time.

Solution #1:

  • Edit the game
  • Go to Media < Images
  • Arrow through the images until you get to the Arcade - Cabinet Images
  • Arrow through each one until you decide on which one you want to keep
  • Click Remove Image on each of the others
  • Click OK to save

Solution #2:

  • Open this plugin
  • Switch to Local Images
  • Right-click the image(s) you don't want and select Remove Image
  • Close the plugin

Requirements:

  • An internet connection
  • An associated LaunchBox Games Database ID# for the selected game

Installing:
Download and extract the contents of the download into your /LaunchBox/Plugins/ folder.
    i.e.  D:/LaunchBox/Plugins/LBDBimages/LBDBimages.dll

Using:

  • Start LaunchBox
  • Right-Click a game
  • Select LB Games db Images *

*If a game does not have an associated LaunchBox Games Database ID#, the menu option will be disabled.

Switch between the LBDB Images and your games' [Local] Images (lower right corner)

LBDB Images view:
Select a filter on the left to view only those image types
Double-click an image to add it to your game
Check Hide images you already have to not show...yup...images you already have **

Local Images view:
Select a filter on the left to view only those image types
Right-click an image and select Remove Image to remove it from your collection

**This only checks for an exact CRC32 match between the database images and your local images.  "Pretty close" is not an "exact match".

Click the DB Id # to navigate to the LaunchBox Games Database webpage for that game (opens into your default browser)
Mouse-over an image to see its image type and region (if available)

Plugin Updates
If an (U)pdate for this plugin has been released on the forums,
    a) the plugin title in the right-click game menu will show as: (U) LB Games db Images
    b) At the top of the plugin window, it will show Update available

Click the Info/Support icon, then click the Update Available button. This will open the plugins download page in your default browser.

As always, all thoughts, views, suggestions, opinions and accolades are welcome.

Thank you for developing this awesome tool! Finally I can properly audit my images.

Suggestions:

  • Remember window size when re-opening
  • Remember zoom setting or have a default zoom setting when re-opening
  • Increase the zoom even further so that the user can compare, for example, two Box Front images to look for small details and artifacts.
  • Adding a drop-down combobox with preset zoom settings would also be helpful, including 50%, 100%, 125%, 150%, 200%, 400%.
  • Add ctrl+scrollwheel functionality to zoom the images in/out
  • What do you think about adding a separate pane/column where it displays the local images?  This way you don't have to keep toggling back/forth or hiding images. Zoom functionality here would be needed as well. For instance, I have a game that has 3 clear logos available. The only way I can tell if I have 1, 2 or all 3 images is to click the hide button or toggle between local and database. Having a separate pane showing the local images would provide instant identification.
  • It would be extremely helpful if we could navigate to the next game for mass editing.

You're welcome.

For window sizing, it's a one click maximize. What more do you need. ;)  Do note that when you resize and/or move the window, if you maximize the window then restore it, it goes back to the previous (remembered) size/location.  (But yeah, only for that session)

Zoom setting, there is a default.  I think what you're asking is to remember your default.

I will add to my request's notes, something along the lines of 'store window size and zoom setting'.

The intent is to have a visual of the available images and the ability to add them to your collection. With the added bonus of being able to remove images from your collection.  Not to 'audit' the quality of the images.

I don't know, I think the slider is way easier to use that selecting from a combo box. Click-hold drag up/down vs. click, select, "doh, not big enough", click select. (The latter making the "remember last zoom setting" more palatable.)

I'd have to look into the 'override the built-in scroll up/down if Ctrl is pressed when inside the ScrollViewer'.

I will add to my request's notes, look into increasing the zoom level and Ctrl+MouseWheel zoom.  MAYBE look at adding preset radio buttons for a one click 'jump to zoom level X'.

I don't see it as "have to keep toggling... or hiding".  I see it as you get to. 😎

In your example, looking at the database images, in the left panel click Clear Logos to see just the 3.  Click Hide to [visually] remove the ones you have. Click again to show them.

I'll add this suggestion to "the list".  But TBH, it'll go to the bottom, and I foresee it staying there a long time.  Mainly because of what all would be involved to make it work 'best'.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I had actually pondered all these (except increasing the zoom level) prior to release.  (But not for very long.)  I figured I'd wait for someone to ask for them.  Then if they didn't, I wouldn't have to spend time coding them in.  And if they did, I could claim it as a New Feature or Improvement. :D

Agreed, the combobox is a bad implementation. I think this is where Ctrl+wheel would be advantageous to allow zooming to the pixel level (thinking Photoshop here) but still retain the slider. As I'm sure you discovered while coding the slider - if you make the range too large then the slider gets too sensitive to set your desired zoom.

Thanks again.  Some done. Some ignored.  Some extras (well, one).

V1.2.0

New Feature:    Window size/location and Image Zoom level are saved on close and used next time you open the plugin
Improvement:  Image Gallery can now zoom +/- using Ctrl+MouseWheel and also MouseWheel-scroll over the Zoom slider
Right-Click NOT on an image inside the Gallery to reset zoom level
New Feature:    View images fullscreen. (Right-click image and select View Fullscreen)
New Feature:    Bulk.  Can now select multiple games

Great additions!  Thank you, sir.  I like the increased zoom and zoom keyboard/mouse functions!  Ohhh! Even zooming while in fullscreen.  Sweet!  And multi-game select and navigation is perfect, you rock!

Suggestion for consideration:  (yes, I know this is not an audit tool, buuuuut)  It would be helpful if the LBDatabase images and Local images switched to that respective image type so that when you toggle, the same type of images are shown.  As it is now when you toggle you could be seeing:      Clear Logos  *swap*  Banners     rather than     Clear Logos *swap* Clear Logos (or vice versa).

Glad you like the new additions that you asked for. ;)

I will add your suggestion to the 'For Consideration' pile. But there's a really good chance it'll sit there a long time.  In the meantime, you could check/un-check the Hide images you already have as a sort-of toggle.
