Bass626 Posted July 17, 2025 Posted July 17, 2025 Hi there! I installed the latest update for Launchbox and was quite excited for the Retroachievements login. It seems my emulators keep forgetting my credentials so this should be a big help towards that. My problem is that I play in softcore mode, as I think of the achievements as just nice little bonuses for games I've already played. But it seems like now that I've setup the Launchbox integration, all my emulators will only use hardcore mode, and there doesn't seem to be a setting in the UI to control that. Is there a config file or something I can go change to fix this? Thank you for your help! Quote

There should be a new "RetroAchievements" tab with a checkbox that allows you to pick hardcore or softcore. Believe checked is hardcore and unchecked is softcore. Quote
Bass626 Posted July 17, 2025 Author Posted July 17, 2025 That did it, I feel kinda silly for not checking there. Thank you very much, C-Beats! Quote
superdavit Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Hey C-Beats, I have a similar question. Is there a way to get Launchbox to display my "softcore" achievement points at the top, next to the hardcore ones? I don't care about the hardcore ones really, but I do like getting random points for beating a level, etc. Thanks a ton. 1 Quote
BrainyCabde Posted yesterday at 03:10 PM Posted yesterday at 03:10 PM I have multiple Retroarch installs in Launchbox and have them named slightly different according to the cores/settings they use. For example, Retroarch, my main installation. Then Retroarch(Gamegear), Retroarch(Master System), Retroarch(MS-DOS) etc. For the Retroarch installs that have different names, Launchbox won't let me set hardcore mode for achievements to off. Is there a way around this, or would I have to just name them all "Retroarch" for Launchbox to allow me to change this setting? Quote
superdavit Posted yesterday at 07:31 PM Posted yesterday at 07:31 PM Not sure if you saw, but the latest update from a week ago allows you to set which achievements you want to see by right-clicking on it at the top of the screen. Not sure if that fixes the issues you're having, but it's an amazing update - something I've been waiting for for a long time. Quote
BrainyCabde Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Doesn't fix my issue, but good to know either way. I might have come across something that will help me though. I can condense my Retroarch installs back down to one installation by using the "content directory override" option in Retroarch. It does overrides based on roms folder rather than core/platform itself. I still have to go through setting everything up, but it should work out in the end fingers crossed. 1 Quote
