About This File

The idea of this set is to place the gameplay video in context, with the hardware of its time. A touch of nostalgia to better understand an unknown material especially for the youngest. Most of the montages use the EmuMovie gameplay videos. The others are mine.

This video set is also available in 16:9 ratio here

I also share the gameplay videos I create with the help of the community.
On EmuMovie FTP :       "Upload here > _Video Snap Submissions > Viking (Platform Video)"

Where is the download located?

They are in the Platform videos section along with the main Nostalgia videos, just under separate sets.

The 16:9 videos of mine are here:

The 4:3 videos are here:

Love these, the best looking videos I've ever seen for platform and platform categories.  I noticed that some (like android) have higher volume than the rest, which can be startling when going through the list.

Hi Guys / Girls,

I'm having a bit of problems with these, let me explain:

I've been using Viking's Nostalgia theme on my emulation PC for quite a while without any problems. The platform select screen loads in PNG's with cutouts for the platform's monitor and there random game video's are loaded in.

Recently I've moved my complete emulation PC into an Arcade1Up cabinet with a 4:3 ratio screen. I wanted to update the theme with these 4:3 video's but it's not working (I put them in the folder according to the instructions). Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong here? I also tried to rename the files to the same names the system is currently using.

I hate to be annoying, but I have some requests if you are willing to take them!

An 80's DOS themed video would be great. Instead of a 90's beige box, something like a IBM AT with a CGA or EGA monitor would be appropriate, or maybe a Tandy 1000 computer. CGA and EGA DOS games like the KQ1,2,3, the CGA Arcade ports, and text based adventures could be playing.

A Classic windows theme would also be really cool. Windows 98 and windows xp would also be really awesome. Windows 98 would be a beige tower with a CD-ROM drive and  CRT monitor. XP would be an early LCD or black CRT montor with a black tower. Windows 98 games would be Half Life, Unreal Gold, Quake III, Unreal Tournament, Turok, Starcraft, Deus Ex, Quake II, ect. Windows XP could be Half Life 2, Doom 3, Quake 4, F.E.A.R., Farcry, ect.

I know that not a lot of people use these categories, but for myself and my own collection, I find lumping all DOS games under MS-DOS to be a bit unwieldy because it covers 15 years of gaming. Same is true, even more so, for Windows gaming.

I appreciate all of your stuff! I use it exclusively for my collection. Thank you for your hard work :).

The link to the additional videos doesn't seem to work?

That link is dead for reasons that are best forgotten. After the deletion mishap here, I uploaded all the Nostalgia additional videos to the Emumovies FTP server and referenced the new path on their ftp here in the forums, then someone at Emumovies deleted all of my and other people's submissions. So, sorry, there is no location for those videos. A message on the EmuMovies forum said the deleted files would be restored, but that was months ago and the upload directory is still missing as of this date.

Very strange. Can't you re-up elsewhere?

I submitted all my additional videos to the Launchbox team before the deletion happened, and I have just verified my files should be integrated into the Platform video download option in the Launchbox Tools menu. What I can't verify is all my videos are integrated today. They should be, and my random creation of platforms that would match my videos in the above video download option was successful.

To your actual question, no, I will not upload the files to systems that have proven to be unreliable. It takes hours to upload all these 4x3 and 16x9 videos. That is something I can no longer justify. Sorry for any inconvenience. You should be able to download the videos from the Launchbox video download option.

Sounds like it’s been a hassle for you 😐 Glad to hear they’re ok the Launchbox system though. Keep up the good work!
