  1. We've been entering all the publishers, the DB can take all of them, it was designed for multiple publishers.
  2. The first rule of moderation is to check the information with multiple sources and try to use the best information possible. A game can have multiple publishers, in those cases all could be correct and all could be added. I don't think we need another rule for this, it is already covered.
  3. On another, hopefully less volatile note: There are submitters deleting all Kanji alternate names in the database. I had heard that this could be an issue with some themes, but I thought that this was just for primary naming, not alternate naming. I did a couple of searches here and possibly missed a conversation about it, but I don't see anything other than kanji being ok for the database itself. Can anyone give me some clarity on if Kanji characters in alternate names are a problem. I have a hard time approving deleting a large amount of information that someone worked to get into the database.
  4. I would first change the name of the one already in the DB to America's Next Top Model (Arts Software) or whatever, mention that there are 2 versions with different Development teams in different years. Make sure to put the original name without parens in the alt name. Then remove the box art and comment that there are two versions and you are going to create the new one when the old images were removed, then create the new one with those developers in parenthesis.
  5. Great looking Fan-Art Box Fronts! Thank you for your hard work.
  6. There are a number of items like this. The ROMs like the one for the Macintosh 512ke, Merlin and Master Merlin, the Palm and phone ROMs and the Tamagotchi are all part of my collection. Some of these qualify as games like your TMNT game, the Merlin games and the Tamagotchi, but unfortunately Launchbox doesn't have a platform set aside for these items at the moment. This is probably one of the reasons that the Arcade platform isn't called the MAME platform, to distinguish arcade games from this type of ROM. Of course you can add these to your local\personal Arcade platform manually and add graphics as I have done for mine or even make a custom platform section for them. But the global database at the moment doesn't have a platform area set aside for them.
  7. Sorry if this is something of a necro, but images in the Arcade Conrols image section can be added to any game locally and I don't even see why they wouldn't be desired if uploaded to the general database for games. I would certainly appreciate them.
  8. Tools, Options, Legacy, General, Region Priorities could certainly do it, but it sounds like you want this on a Platform by Platform basis, which I don't believe exists without considerably more work. You could create a second platform with all the configurations of Genesis and name it Megadrive and move games around, delete undesired artwork, etc. but I'm willing to bet there is a more elegant solution that I'm unaware of. As always, if you don't get a good response here, I would try on the Discord channel as there are bigbrains there all the time that might be able to get you a more nuanced answer.
  9. As a note as we've had this conversation in here in the past, in reference to the wikipedia field in the DB, I've been told recently that all Wikipedia image scraping code has been removed from Launchbox. On the one hand that means any game-specific wikipedia entries can be approved without causing Launchbox issues, on the other hand this field really only exists in the database as the moment as I don't believe it is displayed in the Launchbox application anywhere. It is kind of an orphan. Hopefully that can be fixed in the future.
  10. One other thing to consider is the platform. Many people want screenshots in the original resolution the system offered. So while that doesn't really limit you for windows games much, for other systems it could.
  11. I hope everyone is safe and well in the Launchbox community. Though I've been fortunate enough to work through the current COVID epidemic I was lucky enough to have a few chunks of time where I could really work on entering some of the more obscure titles from my C64 collection into the database. And with those changes I met a goal I set for myself about a year ago. I figured I'd toot my own horn just a bit. You are probably the only people in the world that might understand...
  12. We really must support this, obviously using alternate names. It makes complete sense. That said, I'm not looking forward to hundreds of extra additions a day for the next month if it can't be handled as MAME was. I vote for No-intro, so I guess that is the next fight.
  13. Thanks for all your hard work, see above for some notes on these as I think you may be making some assumptions about what we mean.
  14. I was hoping to see a comment from the moderator that is attempting to remove these entries, with an explanation of why they are consistently working to remove these fixed Commodore 64 entry names. I will be linking this thread to all the declines I do for this in the future. It is good to know that there are others out there defending the changes.
  15. It should, it is over a year old. I think they did away with the invite code expirations just go to this one https://discord.gg/
  16. The first game appears to have been Halo: Combat Evolved for Windows. https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/1 The most recently added system appears to be Linux https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/platforms/games/218 No idea on #4.
  17. Effective is the key word. There is a plug in/add on for Launchbox that will allow addition to the database but my understanding is that it only works well on certain older versions. It also is responsible for a lot of extra moderation clean up as it will not notice that there is already a non region-ed box front larger than the North American box front you will be uploading or notice an existing entry with a slightly different spelling being created. Plus you learn a lot more doing it by hand.
  18. I would just put the primary name in the way you would read it and put these symbols in with the alternate names as you suggested. "Onna no Ko to Misshitsu ni Itara: shichau Kamoshirenai"? or The artist formerly known as Prince not Ƭ̵̬̊. .
  19. I fixed this. Both now have alternate names Finders Keepers (Mastertronic) and Finders Keepers (Carousel) you can use these to match the correct games once the changes roll through tomorrow.
  20. If you go into your changes under My Account, Changes Status on the item that was rejected on the right side there is an i icon that you can click on to find out why it was rejected. In most cases I would suspect that you are using dashes in the game names. Per game submission rules, no dashes as separators should be used in game names, substitute : in all such cases. So instead of "This is the Game - Second Edition" you should be using "This is the Game: Second Edition". Additionally, you should remember that the names currently in the DB are probably there for a reason, so while I support this naming standard with the dash to colon changes above so that it supports our database, you should take the time to make the titles you are overwriting as alternate game names so that people using the ROM name that got it into the DB to begin with still having matching in the future.
  21. I can address the second question. Per game submission rules, no dashes as separators in game names, substitute : in all such cases. Take as many colons as you want in the title to replace dashes used as separators. It doesn't feel right but it is what we need. It really shouldn't be in any of the titles, but it sneaks through. Fix them when you find them, please. As far as the Pokemon issue if it matches the box info I think that is correct, but I believe we were told that dashes are the only character that causes problems. I did see it recently mentioned that umlauts caused issues as well.
  22. I would disagree. If it acts as the "Cover" for the game then it should be Box Front.
  23. Yes, for this database it should be replaced with a colon.
  24. What did I do to get under your skin, fella? Better yet, message me. I'm always looking for constructive criticism.
