  1. I did go down that route at the beginning but it got messy quick. Most of my Windows Operating Systems are VMWare builds so I could open the VM and install / run games inside those if I chose to. as xevious1974 mentioned, exo is better.
  2. I use both symlinks and junctions, depending on weird admin things between internal and external drives. This has been a work in progress adding and changing drives, I don't change old settings unless something breaks. I may at some point go back and re-work a few but for now i'm leaving them as-is. Your lists will help if and when I decide to go back and change things for uniformity.
  3. Thanks for this. Many of these have differing locations due to symlinks, some emulators are in the 'games' directory due to the games and their emulators requiring special relationships, different but similar emulators are intentional due to some games working better with older / newer emulators, and more. Capitalizations and sub folders are of no interest to me as I keep adding more and I'm not changing individual games names. My '. xxx' platforms are intentionally named that way.
  4. Almost every time I add to or create a Platform, LB starts rebuilding almost all of the other .xml files in the Data folder. This adds several hours to the process and I'm not sure why it does this. Earlier in my build this only happened occasionally but now it's happening about 95% of the time. It happens during the 'Saving games...' process and each platform takes 6-7 minutes to be rebuilt. I have quite a few platforms so this can take up to 80 hours per Platform update... not ideal Has anyone else come across this?
  5. Wow! Thank you for going through and doing all of this, I appreciate it. You've saved me a lot of work while simultaneously giving me a lot Was this done by a third party app or software or did you create all this yourself?
  6. When I do an audit inside MAME (currently using .260) it shows 5 games as missing, the rest are complete. When I import using the Launchbox MAME importer (from scratch - previous MAME.xml file was removed) and run the audit tool inside the MAME platform it shows over 11,000 games missing. I have included all ROMS, CHDS and Software Lists. What else am I missing?
  7. I've collected all the main sets as well as a whole lot of others sets, collections and individual games from wherever I can find them. Also I'm not fussy about separating some files from others depending on language, beta, prototype, etc as they're all valid in my collection. I'm over 6 years in on this, I'm always looking for more.
  8. By cores, do you mean Retroarch? I only use that for the standard sega / nintendo / atari systems as well as a few others. For the rest I've tried to find specific emulators for them all, and I have close to all of them (I think) that exist. Emulators are continually updating and being created so every now and then I'll check for better or for ones that I haven't found yet. A lot of the games for these outlier platforms I can only get going by pointing the game path at the emulator then loading the game inside the emulator itself. I'm ok with that if it only means a few more clicks. I usually only test a couple of games with an emulator to make sure it opens or at least is seen by the emulator so I can't speak for every game working with the emulators i've chosen... But when I find another, I add it as a possible emulator insode Launchbox so I have a choice. My hope is that eventually, all old systems will have perfect working emulators, but as you know we're not there yet. I've added a screenshot of a few of my emulator folders so you can see what I mean.
  9. I have another thread, more active and regularly updated here - Feel free to continue to comment here if you wish.

This is my current collection of clear logos, banners etc from my ...Launchbox\Images folder. Drop these in the same place to add to your own collection of images. Overwrite or rename to suit. These are just these specific folders from the ...\Images folder, these aren't individual system specific folders (XBOX, NES, etc.). All 4 zip files extract to almost 8GB. Looking for my .XML files? New Update May 2024 - https://archive.org/details/snaapgames-repository_202404 has all my April 2024 images plus a bunch more. If you're looking for my Platform and Playlist .xml files, they're also at that link.

  12. I'm using 3 large TB drives, 2 internal, 1 external. My emulators are on an NVME stick which I think works a little faster with my setup. As for lag... try turning off the video hardware acceleration.
  13. No, i don't use that. At least for now. I'm getting it from 2 places: LB games count and everything I find with Notepad++ </ApplicationPath> Granted, 1 is real, the 2nd is everything including dupes and more. The dupes don't count, only the LB count with all the dupes removed and ROM consolidation.
