  1. Oh I have many issues with a lot of emulators, including N-Gage. My take on these is that when working emulators become available I'll get them added to the system and I'll finally be able to see these games in action again. Finding the games is much harder than finding a working emulator, I'll be ready when they catch up.
  2. You got me thinking, exactly how many games do I have in total, including different versions and duplicates? I ran all my Platform .xml files through Notepad++ and the magic number of how many </ApplicationPath> files I have are..... (drum roll...) 1,631,204. Of course, that's everything including Magazines and Videos etc.. It doesn't count in the grand scheme of things but I wanted to know
  3. My system isn't for sale, and never will be. As strange as this may sound I rarely play any games at all, I feel compelled to find everything there is available in this retro realm, to share en-masse for free online when laws and licensing allows (which may be never). My advice to you is to learn the process on your own time and keep at it, if it's what you want. TBH my collection is completely ridiculous if you actually want to play these games, stick to the consoles or computers you see yourself actually playing regularly and start there.
  4. Just found this - need to delete a folder of zero byte files? - Powershell 'as admin' this - Get-ChildItem -Path "C:\LaunchBox\Images\Cache-BB" -Recurse -Force | Where-Object { $_.PSIsContainer -eq $false -and $_.Length -eq 0 } | remove-item (change the path as needed) I did this on my cache folder and everything is faster.
  5. I've found some crazy downloads, stuff I'd never find on the known sites. I prefer to put everything together.
  6. Check out my Platforms xml file, there might be a few there you can add - https://forums.launchbox-app.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=96455&key=b2a8a06f80b22bb6a08c82b77a140dea
  7. I'm trying to find all languages, hacks, homebrews, everything. I have some 'best of' playlists that I found somewhere, if the numbers in there aren't whole (ie. 50, 100 etc.) then I take that to mean I'm missing something. It's entirely possible that I do have everything they're just mis-named but I'm not going through all the weirdly named ones one by one to see what they are...
  8. A complete excel spreadsheet of all the games... I'm not entirely sure how I'd do that tbh. I've never tried importing from .xml to a spreadsheet, I'd need to look into it. SiriusVI's reply above is correct, I've searched in (too) many places to find everything and smushed everything together. Some sets I've downloaded might be 100GB only to give me an extra game or 2. I'm still missing a bunch of SNES titles.
  9. You are correct Emrys3177 I haven't gone for a lot of the larger PS3, XBOX etc. titles as my need isn't just to fill up drives. When it comes to PS1 and others tho, there's a LB plugin here that will convert ISO and other files to CHD which did reduce a lot of space.
  10. They got back to me and said " We are unable to take downloaded games: as a library, we have to have everything obtained legally from a game's rightsholder in order to be able to use it, so the games either need to be purchased by us or we have to have original physical copies. " Until this requirement is removed I'm going to have to find another way... or create my own. I think their requirement, although understandable in terms of legalities, does nothing for preservation.
  11. I've reached out to https://gamehistory.org/ and I'm waiting for a reply. I'm sure anything you have will be a welcome addition for them.
  12. I kinda took a break during Covid but I didn't stop. My overall objective from 6+ years ago was to collect everything, and that won't change. I will at some point donate everything to an online archive so these are all preserved forever. I have no intention of playing them all or even knowing if the obscure systems work as they should or used to as emulators are being written constantly for every system imaginable. All of the original games and other software titles need to be available to everyone for historical reasons. These are the foundations of where we are as a digital society and they won't be lost, at least if I have any say in it.
  13. I have also experienced this. For a long time now I've had BigBox run at startup instead of Explorer which did help with a lot of the sluggishness. I also found that caching in both BB and LB help enormously too. My system takes about 40 minutes to boot into BigBox but when everything is cached and the system is not running anything else, it's beautiful to watch. I take backups of both my cache folders weekly as I don't want to start again... I have an Octocore AMD running 32GB with an EVGA Geforce 1070 video card. It's all running on an Asus motherboard with liquid cooling as well.

I just did one of these last month, but I've added quite a few since then. Happy Independence Day!
  18. Honestly, unless it's fairly obvious there's a bunch of googling and guesswork. I'm pretty sure I've got some wrong as the process continues, but as time progresses I'm getting better. Some will be re-done as I update, which will likely never end as new and better emulators / systems become available... This isn't by any means a finished project and likely never will be.
