  1. give me a couple minutes to make you a proof of concept to get some games running in retroarch. u do have retroarch installed and working? with the latest mame core downloaded?
  2. BAS are smartbasic programs : SmartBASIC was the built-in programming language on the Adam and BAS files were used to store these programs. DDP digital data packs, u could call them tapes or cassettes. DSK is floppy/disk yes. THey are set up the same way in mame. in Software lists in adam_flop, adam_cass
  3. Before I explain...do you have a list of games you want to play on coleco adam? That way I can point you in the right direction to specifically get those games up and running
  4. QOL = quality of life I think? Then yes, I agree. Anything which makes things easier.
  5. You're pretty active making these tools stigzler 👍 Nice work!
  6. Easy...either configure this in launchbox by right clicking a platform and choosing edit Then check the box there 'hide in bigbox' IF you have lots of platforms, it's easier and quicker to just quick edit them in notepad with REPLACE ALL Open your platforms.xml (in the launchbox\data folder [YOURINSTALLDRIVELETTER]:\Launchbox\Data Then find and replace the text : <HideInBigBox>false</HideInBigBox> and change that for the entire platforms.xml to <HideInBigBox>true</HideInBigBox> And then change only your arcade to : <HideInBigBox>false</HideInBigBox>
  7. I just configured Retroarch with the MAME core and there the coleco adam disk files load and the games run. So if you want an alternative for running coleco adam in dsk format then Retroarch would be a good alternative. And it isn't that difficult to set up. Basically the same way you set up other platforms which run in mame. Do you know how to configure software list games in retroarch?
  8. glad to have helped. It sometimes takes just a small little thing.
  9. then you are passing something to retroarch which conflicts with it's working. Cause the error you are seeing isn't being thrown by Launchbox, it is thrown by retroarch. These are the settings I have for retroarch. And for Sega Naomi and Sammy...I do not extract roms My sammy games are already extraced and are lst and bin files My sega Naomi games are all in chd format Yours could be zipped of course but that shouldn't be a problem.
  10. and check your bios files in Retroarch. When u are running a dreamcast game which works with flycast. Then hit F1 to go into the menu. Get to main menu -> Information -> Core information make sure all bios are present and have a checkmark (meaning they have the proper md5 hash)
  11. flycast core is very finicky and once u find one that works for most your sammy or sega naomi games, u would be advised to lock that core and make a backup of it. For Sammy Atomiswave I use the reicast_libreto core. All my games work with that core. For Sega Naomi I don't think I am using the latest flycast core cause I had issues when updating my cores. I can send u mine, u can try if it makes any difference.
  12. no worries about being confusing. You are just looking for an answer to a problem. I'm sorry, I also fiddled around with it but I cannot get DSK images to boot. Even tried dragging and dropping it like it says on atariage forum https://forums.atariage.com/topic/354237-colem-help/ And I see something loading but nothing more. Maybe you should post your question also there and if you have an answer then share it here.
  13. have you tried several DSK roms? Cause not all roms will load. There can be bad ports out there.
  14. On a sidenote,...Retroarch also has support for Atari2600 by using the Atari 2600 (Stella) core And it supports following extensions .a26 .bin .zip See settings for retroarch Added benefit is that u can use many bezels out of the box, like the one made by Duimon (with use of HSM mega bezel shader) HyperspaceMadness’ Mega Bezel Reflection Shader : https://forums.libretro.com/t/mega-bezel-reflection-shader-feedback-and-updates/25512 Duimon bezels: https://forums.libretro.com/t/duimon-hsm-mega-bezel-graphics-and-presets-feedback-and-updates/28146 And if you have it setup then it will look like this
  15. You can manually assign the same artwork it has for the DDP file to the DSK file. Right click the game without artwork -> Edit -> Edit Metadata/Media Go to setting Media : Images Here you can assign several fields for the different kinds of artwork. If u open the game which has the artwork, and u follow the same steps...u can also save the images by right clicking each image and then 'save image as' to a temporary directory. That way u can easily assign them to another game. Just browse through all the images and save them all to a custom folder. If you have all the artwork, just go to the Media:images screen again and keep adding images and in that screen in the upper right u can designate the correct type to the image u uploaded (screenshot gameplay, front box, 3D box, clear logo,...etc) But if they are the same game but just have different names or extensions then u are better to combine the games. You do this by selecting both games, right clicking and choosing the option to combine them : That, or just delete the duplicate game. There is no need to keep both if they are exactly the same. Just choose the one that launches better, is easier to launch or by extension has the most support for the emulator u are using.
  16. do you have any other executables running on your pc which could be stealing focus? Have you tried disabling everything that doesn't necessarily needs to run? Just to test out. If you have windows its very easy to quickly turn them off (and back on again (startup apps) Disable everything in startup apps and reboot. Then try again. At least then u can rule that out if u still can't exit.
  17. probably not the answer u are looking for but I tend to agree with dragon57, u will save yourself a lot of headache by just looking for different versions of roms. And sticking to retroarch which does support them. I also do not think that COLem supports bas files right out of the box. To be able to launch BAS files, I think u first would have to get in the ADAM BASIC and then run the BAS files with a load command. Like for instance LOAD "CAS:[insertnameofbasfilehere]" As for DSK and DDP they both should work according to the information * Coleco Adam emulation is now operational, with keyboard, printer, disk, and tape drives. Use -adam command line or "Hardware | Adam" menu to enable. Requires EOS.ROM and WRITER.ROM files. * Emulator will load .DSK files into disk drive A: and enable Adam mode. * Emulator will load .DDP files into tape drive A: and enable Adam mode. Guess would be something like colem -adam -diska [insert name of dsk file]
  18. @legolas119 : As author of a post, u normally can designate certain answers as 'solution'. That way other users can see very quickly what the posting is which solved the issue. Just a tip.
  19. I think it's this page (atleast for the SNES) https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/3071-ninja-warriors It has alternate names : The Ninja Warriors Again (ザ・ニンジャウォーリアーズアゲイン), named simply The Ninja Warriors in the USA and The Ninja Warriors: The New Generation in Europe, is a side-scrolling hack 'n slash action game originally released in 1994 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. On the MS-DOS platform I cannot find it. So I will add it there later.
  20. I personally would go for the more easy on the eyes colors. But that is personal choice
  21. what font is that for the AGAIN? And u should try one with the other ninja warriors as well. To see which one looks best. The bottom one looks best. The upper one is too shiny radioactive green But good job. I was searching for the right font but I could not find it. Else I could make it completely new
  22. @goofers : I can't find this game on the gamesDB. Do you have a link to it?
  23. @goofers : I just uploaded a more fine-tuned version. Should be good enough to use now.
