Just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this and if there is some kind of workaround to prevent it. Specifically, I'm finding that after launching a game, doesn't matter the platform/emulator... while it's running if I left or right-click anywhere it kicks back to the Launchbox screen with the 'Game Over' background, but the emulator is still running (I didn't press anything or type 'ESC' to get out). Has anyone else seen this? I don't want to completely disable mouse support as some emulators/games need it, but I also don't want clicking on something to return back to LB either, it should only do this when I press the quit key, whatever it is set to.

Weird I went to edit an existing game, then it prompted me to download updated Metadata, now the import seems to be working again..... Would this set have just been added to the Metadata recently?

Hi, I was trying to import my MAME 0.222 Full Set but for some reason when it gets to the final screen to parse the list of games I see nothing? The window is blank. I am using v11.2. See below the screenshots. My first attempt was using the Import MAME Arcade Full Set wizard. When I attempted instead to use Tools.. Scan for Added Games.. Arcade, I get the error message. Something seems strange I had an older set which was the exact same path but I replaced with this newer set to re scan, and this happened. I had a v 0.198 set that seemed to important when I tried originally. I completely emptied out the folder though before placing all the 0.222 ROMs (and .CHDS in respective subfolders). So there shouldn't be anything in the folder causing this problem...

Oh, that's unfortunate. I like the dynamic resizing I just don't like how it resets the position.... oh well. And yes, I just tested that and it worked. Thanks.

Minor gripe, but I'm noticing when editing the collection and delete a game in any given platform, the focus of which game is selected is completely reset and I'm sent right back to the first entry in the screen. This is not a huge issue but when editing a lot of games and trying to remember where I was I have to press the respective key and/or scroll through a bunch to get back to where I was. Is there any way the focus of selected game becomes the one before/after the deleted game and not the very first one in the entire list?

I noticed # 2 as well.

Command Line to Target a Specific Retroarch Config File?
rodww replied to fromlostdays's topic in Noobs
Yes they are in different folders which is why it's odd it's not working... -
Minor issues I noticed in 11.0 beta 3 in the new edit game dialog box. (Unless I'm doing something wrong) it seems that when you do a manual search for a game from the database that wasn't properly discovered during import, if it comes back with no results, the searching button remains greyed out and you can't search again unless you close the dialog box and go back in again.

Command Line to Target a Specific Retroarch Config File?
rodww replied to fromlostdays's topic in Noobs
I have a similar issue here. I am using the RA, Atari800 core and when I set the content directory override for Atari 5200, my Atari XEGS titles wont run (keeps the setting for 5200) and vice-versa if I set it to for the XE. It will save it for that instance but not for both. I've tried to save a custom config file but I only see the .OPT file for the core in the config folder? I could see this being a problem if I selected save core override but I'm trying to save content directory override and it doesn't seem to work. -
Thanks this is a great help.. is there a general guide or summary of the various systems and folder naming conventions I can refer to somewhere (as in your example, using the MAME Retroarch core for the 'oddball' systems) to ensure I have them setup correctly would you know? And I like to organize game files into sub-folders, so I assume that won't work in this case? I'm so not a fan of dumping all roms in the same folder..
-
I'm guessing this probably isn't the best place to post this but thought I'd try in case anyone in the LB community has noticed this but whenever I try to use the PS2 core in RA with .CSO files it just hangs on exit? .ISOs seem fine. I wanted to try to compress the collection to save space but seems to be problematic. I know PCSX2 is a better emulator (and can/will use it as an alternative) just hoping someone may have run into this and/or have a solution/suggestion. (I will also be posting this in the RA forum for this core....)

Thanks for the tip.. I have all of my roms in a network drive (my X:\ drive) on a different PC in a specific folder structure. Can I still get this to work as long as the folder has the correct name or does it have to be in the MAME/MESS/RA folders?
-
I'm struggling with this as well. I have selected MAME as the default emulator and provided the default parameters but MAME just quits.. not sure what I'm doing wrong.... I can't seem to get it to load outside of LB either.

I too have this issue...

First of all, thanks again for such an awesome application, just love this program, and it keeps getting better and better every day! I was testing 10.15-beta 8 and noticed during import (a minor issue), it seems to prompt to import other game types even though I didn't include them? Unless I'm missing something and this is intended behavior? Below in screen #1 I only have 'Search for game information and media..' checked, but when I get to the end of the wizard it prompts me to log in to download data for Epic Games and Origin Games (of which I have none in my collection, and did not select to scrape any for....)

I have this exact same problem. If you are using epicfail's approach and using the 'ScummVMImport.dll' and executing from the 'BatRunner.exe' (this is his most recent method from what I can tell), I have a theory why it isn't working, but perhaps you can tell me if you ever resolved this. I responded to another thread where epicfail also listed the instructions. So I got everything working well using his instructions posted here: https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/51051-scummvm-games-wont-start-in-launchbox/ However, I noticed something - it seems as though the 'BatRunner.exe', after launching the .epicfail file to start ScummVM.exe, immediately quits back to LB behind the scenes. So while the AutoHotKey for the ESC key would probably work to close ScummVM.exe, I don't think it's 'listening' for that input at that point as it has already closed out to the LB GUI (even though ScummVM is technically still running in the foreground, something I didn't catch right away)... again, just a theory, but I too can't seem to find a fix to workaround this...
-
So I have a question about this.. I used these instructions to get my setup working with ScummVM as well, so thanks epicfail! However I am trying to find a way to get the autohotkey function to allow me to close ScummVM with ESC key but so far no luck.. and I noticed that once the 'Batrunner.exe' starts the game using the .epicfail files, it quits right back to launchbox behind the scenes while ScummVM is still running, which I think may be why the AHK isn't having a chance to work... Is this intentional do you know? Is there any option to get the app to close properly (without automatically returning to the LB gui) using AHK or other means? I've tried all of these commands with no luck, but I don't think LB is listening for them after the game launches since the GUI immediately reappears... --- $Esc:: { Process, Close, ScummVM.exe } $Esc:: { Process, Close, {{{StartupEXE}}} } $Esc:: { Process, Close, BatRunner.exe }

Changing the location of the images/media folders
rodww replied to Jason Carr's topic in Troubleshooting
@Game.. I had a similar issue here when I was trying to do this. But in the end, I was able retain the changes I made by ensuring Launchbox was closed *before* editing the Platforms.xml. I found that any change I made was reverted by LB, if I closed it *after* saving my change to the .XML, I'm guessing it overwrites/updates Platform.xml to what it was last set to while running, upon exit. And I found manually updating all the fields for all platforms one at a time in LB was too time consuming, editing the .XML was far quicker. I didn't see a way around initially importing a single game to get LB to add the platform initially. So I would do this first (without importing any media using the wizard), then I would close LB, edit the XML to point to my network drive where the ROMs and media are stored for that specific platform, save it, go back into LB, verify the folder paths were correct in the Manage Platforms menu, do a full import on the game library including all the media, then delete the game I initially imported to remove that duplicate. I also removed any media folders in their default locations created by this process within Launchbox, since they were empty anyway. This seemed to work as expected (no symbolic links required!), and performance is surprisingly good for my setup, even using WiFi it's not bad once LB has a chance to cache things (I left the BB and LB Cache folders in their default locations, didn't attempt to change this - assuming that is even possible - as it seems to be fine as is and caching over the LAN/WiFi I think defeats the performance benefit). One last thing.. make sure you edit the 'Game' path for the respective Platform section near the top - it usually has '</folder>' with no value initially - and not just the images/media folders below it in that file. I made this mistake too and it still imported things into the LB folders. -
It's all good I figured out how to direct my favorites to the specific playlist folder and placed my video there and it's working now...
-
An update to this post... I am using the favorites screen and it's working as designed however I'm not sure how to get it to display a custom video (platform/category/playlist?) while in BixBox, it's only blank. Is there something I need to do? I tried copying an MP4 with the same name as my favorite into both the Platform and Playlist folders but it doesn't show them...
-
I just thought I'd post a comment here. I had this exact same problem, turned out the import wizard showed up blank because the filename/folder was too long for some of my games in the folder hierarchy, and it seems to abort the preview data in the import process without generating an error in LaunchBox. I only discovered this because while using my renaming application (I was trying to switch the extension which I didn't think really mattered anyway as stated previously), and it mentioned that some of the filenames could not be found and that the names might have been too long. I shortened the names of the offending files and voila, the import worked. Not sure if this was the problem experienced here but worth checking just in case.
-
Wow didn't even know I could do this.. thanks I'll try it out.
-
I realize this is an old topic, but was this every implemented? I too found myself looking for a way to 'Only Display Favorites' but couldn't find this option, and manually hiding everything isn't ideal if I want to show all titles on the fly to try a new one, vs. just ones I've favorited previously I know I like, and it cuts down on a lot of scrolling. I also know that favorites are shown at the top, but even going out and coming back into the list menu doesn't reset your selection position back to the top of the list, and if your last selection is way down on the list, it's a lot of scrolling to get to the top where the favorites are.

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong (or if this is a known issue or not) but I've been trying to combine my game versions in LaunchBox, and while using the mouse with the context menu (right-clicking and selecting that way) I seem to be able to do it without any problem, but for some reason when I try the key combination CTRL+SHIFT+C nothing happens? I'm making sure to highlight games I want to combine first, and I've tried this in different views as well (list, image. etc.) to no avail. Is this keyboard shortcut combination not working in the interface? It's of course not a showstopper, just would save me a ton of time...

Changing the location of the images/media folders

Oh.. I feel a bit silly now.. thanks for letting me know. ?
