  1. Thank you Sir that is very much appreciated. I only use launch box so I'm not familiar with the spin wheel mechanism in big box. But I found another way that I'm comfortable with period and that is, I assigned the Ctrl Alt Q function to a hot key using a program called DS4Windows. It lets you assign keyboard functions and all kinds of macro functions to a PlayStation DualShock 4 controller which I only use. So I mapped CtrlAltQ to one of the buttons on my DS4, and it works a treat. On a side note, now that you brought up big box. Just curious do you recommend using it over launch box? If so, what are the advantages or benefits that big box has over launch box?
  2. Hi guys, is there a way to get lunch box to launch a random game with a simple hot key? I would like to launch a random game in two ways if possible: A)Launching a random game within the current platform or playlist that I'm in. B)Launching a random game from within my *entire* launch box library which, collectively, encompasses nearly 200,000 games across all platforms lol. I think that would be pretty cool as well. Is there a way to accomplish either of these tasks?
  3. guys, I am the idiot of all idiots! it's been so long since I used retroarch, I completely forgot to put my bios files in the system folder! <Insert loser theme from the Price is Right here> Sorry for wasting your time guys, I got it working now, thanks
  4. Hi neil. I'm sorry for bumping this old thread, but I'm having the same problem and for the life of me, can't get LB to launch my Saturn games with the Mednafen core. I saw your suggestion to add the "hw" to the command line, but I don't understand.....where exactly do you add this line? I tried adding it next to the "-f" under the "Extra Command-Line Parameters" column, but nothing happens and the game won't launch. Can you please tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm desperately trying to get LB to launch RA with this darn Mednafen(Beetle) core.
  5. you sir, are an invaluable asset to this community. Thanks so much!
  6. Hi guys. As the title says I'd like to create a new category that filters out all my MAME CHD games and make either a new platform or playlist out of it. How do go about achieving this task?
  7. Hi guys, hope everyone's doing well Just a quick question.... I have two separate LB builds on two different Windows machines. One on my laptop and one on my desktop. They both have a specific custom category of games I've arranged. The laptop has a custom platform category of fighting games while the desktop has a custom platform of racing games I've created. I want to sync, merge and assimilate the laptop build into the desktop one, so that my desktop build has all the custom platform categories carried over from the laptop. Is there a fairly easy way to merge two different builds of LB into one? I'm willing to copy my launchbox folder over from my laptop to my desktop, but where do I go from there? Keep in mind I already have all the games/roms on both machines, and although the directories and path for the both machines are the same(MAME/Consoles) for the most part, the fighting games platform path is different on my desktop. Please let me know what steps I need to do and how to proceed with this task. Thanks!
  8. Hi Joe and thanks for your continued work on this amazing plugin. I have a question...... I'm trying to get my PC-Engine CD and Sega CD games to work. They are all in separate folders and in CHD format. None of them are archived. How do I get launchbox to scan and import these games? I chose the option to scan them as CHD files(second option) rather than zip files(MAME option). Is this the correct method?
  9. Hi guys. I have two noob question about RetroArch and LaunchBox....... 1)Is there a command line of some kind, that I can use within LB to tell RA to launch a specific file within a zip file? I'm currently having an issue where RA will attempt to launch the .cue file rather than the .iso file within my 3DO.zip files. I want it to attempt to launch the .iso file instead, and don't have the space on my HD to unpack all my 3DO games. Is there a command line I can apply from within LaunchBox, that accomplishes this? 2)Somewhat along the same lines as question #1, my romsets are merged .zip files. When I imported them into LaunchBox, I did so and combined the clones. Now, quite a few zip files contain three versions of the same game but from different regions. For example, my Nintendo set has USA, Japan and Europe/PAL all in the same .zip archive. How can I tell RetroArch to launch a specific version of the game from within the .zip archive file? Is there a command line I can type into the Launchbox options somewhere, that tells Retroarch to launch say, SuperMarioAlltars(U) rather than SuperMarioAllstars(J) ? Please let me know and keep up the good work
  10. Hi guys. I fonally finished importing all my roms sets from MAME, both arcade and console sets complete. Looking through my library, it's a little annoying seeing multiples of the same game on display. Therefore I'm thinking of consolidating all my games. From what I understand the way consolidation works, LB basically combines roms with the same name into one game in your library. I decided to give it a try with my NES roms....however after I consolidating my NES roms, I still see several duplicates in the list. For example, I have 3 Bases Loaded roms.....basload.zip, basloada.zip and basloadb.zip. Why didn't LB combine these into one game? Also, before consolidating your roms, launchbox warns you that once the operation is complete, the results cannot be undone? Is this really true? Because there is an option to uncombine roms when you right click ones that have already been combined(consolidated).
  11. Yeah that's what I figured. Thanks anyway Neils much appreciated.
  12. Hi guys. I have a sub-category within Steam called "Racing Games" 99% of the games in this library are non-Steam games that are actually roms that run in MAME. I've just happen to add them because I thought it would be pretty cool having them in my Steam sub-library with box art. My question is, even though these games are simply MAME roms, is it possible import these shortcut non-steam MAME games directly from Steam rather than having to import each individual one from my mame folder? The reason I'm asking is because there's about 50 or so of these racing games and I've already created batch files for them for easy launching via Steam. I'd be nice to be able to simply drag them over to my LaunchBox folder.
  13. OK I just imported my snes roms and whaddayaknow? It worked! Tested a few games and everything worked properly. Guess it helps that I already have experience using QMC2. OK so here comes the million dollar question.......what is the best way to go about importing images to these console games? I tried selecting all the snes games but don't see anything within the LB GUI to add or download images.
  14. Oh and Joe....just for clarification, I'm using MAME 206. A older version. Since MESS is incorporated into MAME these days, am I required to download the Shrink_MESSxml_2.0.zip as well? Or is that for something else?
  15. Oh gotcha. Thanks for clarifying and thanks for the plugin. OK I will try importing my snes and nes and couple others and see what happens. I'm a total launch box noob, but I've just completed importing my full MAME set into my desktop installation. Lets see what happens.
  16. Hello. I'm using it now, and it says "Select the Computer\Console you want to import".....How do you select and import ALL the consoles\computers at once? I want to import all of them, but the GUI seemingly allows for selecting one.
  17. Thanks. I chose to check all the boxes upon import, but I don't have an account with emumovies or whatever. So looks like the images/platform folder is the only folder I need to copy over. Cool.
  18. Yeah it completed the process and said that roughly 3,000 games were imported. However it brought up a whole bunch of errors and then asked me despite the errors do I want to keep the existing games and I chose yes. I can only assume these errors are related to launch boxes inability to complete importing box art screenshots and other data. So my question is, assuming I decide to copy all of the folders containing screenshots box art etc from my desktop installation over to my laptop, which corresponding folders containing these files do I need to copy and paste? Will there be any issues related to drive letters regarding these particular folders? My lunch box installation on my desktop will probably be done by tomorrow.
  19. Thank you Lord monkas. Okay update here's what's happening, I just severed my internet connection with my laptop. Now it appears launchbox is continuing the progress but it is going much faster. I can only assume that it has continued to import my ROMs only and not the metadata. As a matter of fact it is almost done. Once this process is complete it appears that launchbox will have imported all of my ROMs but a whole bunch of ROMs will have missing metadata artwork screenshots, e t c. if this is the case how can I apply the remaining metadata to all the ROMs that have missing metadata? Assuming my desktop is also importing all the metadata at home, once it's done there, can I simply copy whatever the metadata folder is and paste it over to my laptop replacing the existing metadata folder? Or does launchbox have an option to import remaining metadata to those ROMs that are missing it?
  20. Thank you sir! With that having been said, allow me to ask you another question. The import process seems to take quite a while....As an alternative to importing directly into my laptop, what about this idea.... What if I run a new installation on my desktop, then import the MAME set there, where there is a constant internet connection. Once it's finished, can I simply move the entire installation over to my laptop? One problem is that the drive letters will not be the same. Example, C:MAME/Roms on my desktop is E:MAME/Roms on my laptop. Is there a way to change drive letters using some sort of ini.file or xml.file so that the LaunchBox sees the roms properly? Or will LaunchBox detect the different drive letters and make the change automatically? Please let me know.
  21. Hi guys, I'm new to LB and just had a quick question....what happens to my progress if I lose internet connection while importing MAME or any other romset? Right now I'm about a quarter of the way done with my MAME import, but unfortunately I have to disconnect my laptop and take it with me to work, where there is no internet access. Once my laptop loses internet connection, will I be able to resume the import progress I had in Launchbox later on? Can I simply leave it alone, leave LaunchBox running, and then plug my laptop back up to the net once I get back home? Or will I need to redo the whole process all over again?
