  1. Yeah, you need to point Launchbox to your external storage, thats the only place it can fall fit.
  2. So I have the latest versions, mostly the tube version but one standard form factor new one as well.. I got rid of my older versions. That said, you will need additional storage added on no matter what you do.. just not enough space regardless. Add a USB drive and move Apps to that. Your primary storage is just not enough.. why they give so little is beyond me.. I mean 16GB should just be a given even 4-5 years ago.
  3. I just got my Retroid Pocket 2+ and am trying to do the same thing. I copied the Launchbox directory to my SDCard but when I go back to options and try to do the move it says something about not having permissions... Anyone else have this or figure out the problem?
  4. I switched to the boxes grid view, seems to work the best for me performance wise. One thing I was thinking was maybe having to load extra images was slowing it down too much.. I wonder it would be possible to disable certain images already downloaded, like turn off backgrounds?
  5. I have noticed on all my Nvidia Shields, once I load up a platform full of games and box art etc., performance has tanked to the point where I can't even scroll to the bottom before the scrolling grinds to a halt then the app crashes.. The odd thing, my biggest platform "Arcade" doesn't have this issue, but something like SNES does. Just wondering if anyone else has seen similar performance issues or not?
  6. This is why I prefer retroarch if at all possible for all my emulation.. it keeps all saves and states in one place, then I just use autosync (another app) to sync all my saves and states to google drive. This has worked awesome for years. I can go to any tv (shield tv) in my house and pickup where I left off in the other room. Or I take my phone on the road and have the same thing, all saves in sync still. You gotta try it! It really makes a world of difference. I won’t run any other device unless it supports android (or another OS google drive works on) for this reason.
  7. I paid the 10 bucks to support you all and the great work you have done, but also hopefully the great work yet to come as well. It’s early days but functional for the most part now just wish I could set this as the default launcher.
  8. One last suggestion, could we possibly get platform wide settings in the main options area? Like if you want to set all platforms to a specific view, or set extract archives to "false" for all platforms.. Would be nice to just have these settings in the general options area so we can easily set it to all our platforms saving us time from going into each individual one
  9. I just noticed a bug where the extract rom archives (.zip or 7z) option toggle will always show on, even when its technically off. I have verified this in the xml files for the platforms that the setting is false... yet the gui still shows the toggle as on. The xml file seems to be the accurate setting as when I run the game its not extracting the zip file which is good. just a UI bug it seems. I can go in and toggle it off, but as soon as I exit that settings area and re-enter it still shows it as on.
  10. I haven't tried it on my RP2 yet.. but I do have Lineage OS running on it now so I think it should work.. I'll give it a try soon.
  11. Just wanted to say I have the NAS mounted share working fine now on all my Shields Thanks for the quick fix!
  12. From what I understand of the Nvidia shield, using the native mount allows only read access yes.. which would mean we could read rom files, but writing to say a LaunchBox directory with thumbnails would not be possible as far as I know… I am not a dev so not 100% certain, this is only what I have experienced when trying to write to the native mount with other apps and what I have been reading online. That said, as long as I can read my Roms I’ll still be happy, that is the 100% blocker for me right now. I just bought some 256GB micro sd cards to use in my Shields which should be plenty for any thumbnails or other media files LaunchBox may download in the future. Thank You for the work to at least read from the mount though, can’t wait to use LaunchBox on my Shields around the house!
  13. One thing that will also need to be overcome is the ability to write to the mounted share as well. I think step one is at least getting read access to the network share so we can at least play our games, but step two will be making sure we can write back to the mounted share as this is a little bit of an issue on the Shield, usually requires a custom smb client in the app I believe, which id be fine with. This way you can write all the images/thumbnails/data for launchbox back to the NAS so its shared across all devices without having to download on every single device. That said, thanks to the devs for working on at least prioritizing getting access to the mounted share so we can at least play games through launchbox Anxiously awaiting using Launchbox on my Shields!
  14. I appreciate your dedication to the Shield that is for sure. I am guessing Nvidia possibly did things differently to make it work the way they wanted, it’s an amazing device all things considered. I thought it would be a long shot to share one LaunchBox folder so not to surprised there. I haven’t had any issues with the PC versions on my NAS but suspect android might be a little slower.. but are you using lower quality/sized images by chance as well? That might help things actually. I found LaunchBox on my Pixel 4 very fast, honestly it surprised me if you could figure out how to present the NAS/mounted storage for the Shield I will be ever greatful! It’s the last piece to the puzzle
  15. Oh one last thing I will add... Would love to be able to just point LaunchBox for Android to my LaunchBox folder on my NAS that the PC version uses. Would be amazing if I just had to have one backend instance of LaunchBox with all my games and configs... I realize that might be tough seeing as they are different platforms though.... With that said, my next best option is to have the Android LaunchBox folder on my NAS that all my Shields/Android devices can point to when I am on my home network. That way they are always in sync, I don't have to configure each one individually etc... That would be my utopia for Android Launchbox (This is what I have setup for all my PCs now btw, works amazing!)
  16. Just got it installed on my Shield! Thanks for the quick turn around on a fix! I do have one other big issue but ill put that in a new thread here,
  17. So I have 4 Nvidia Shields in my house, literally every TV in my house has one, I love being able to pick up a controller no matter where I am and just start gaming Even on mobile devices all my saves get sync'd thanks to DriveSync. That said one thing I have enabled on every Shield is mounted storage to my NAS. This way, all my ROMs can be stored in one location without taking up any space on my actual shield and the precious limited storage they have (I have SD cards in them but they are smallish at 32GB too). I love LaunchBox/BigBox but when I went to set this up on my Shield, I went to Import Games and low and behold its not showing my mounted storage??? I figured to Android its just another folder, why doesn't LaunchBox show it? It shows my /storage/emulated/0 folder and the storage for my sd card... but thats it... I can't go up to a root directory and select my mounted storage. This is a huge issue as it effectively limits what I can play to my 32GB SD cards. Please Please Please let me use my mounted storage, its what makes the Shield such an amazing device!!!!!!!!
  18. My Model is P3430 (Tube Version) running Android 8.2.3 (32.6.518.0). I have the updated "Pro" model too, but haven't tried that yet. I also verified I could also create files on root with the FX file explorer. Here are the screenshots and shots of the errors attached as well that might help... I will try your new version as soon as I can.
  19. I ended up just doing what I said I would try, its gets the job done at least. I do wish Launchbox would recognize which CHD folders need to go with the ROMs though when you tell it to make a copy or move them, have to do that manually still Seems like that would be a must have feature imo. I don't know if ill be updating my MAME curated set all that often anyways so its not horrible.
  20. Just wanted to add one thing, I Installed this on my Pixel 4XL, no issues, its working great! Just no luck with the Nvidia Shield yet
  21. I just bought an Android license and went to install LaunchBox on my Nvidia Shield however I ran into an issue right away... The install works from the .apk, but as soon as I go to load it I get an error saying the file system is read only. I looked in the app permissions thinking maybe it didn't have access to the storage but it shows it does. Basically it throws these errors and says it can't initialize itself and basically stops there. Has anyone else gotten this to work on their Shield? I am using the newer "tube" streaming stick model btw.
  22. Did anyone figure out the best way to do this, seems like a lot of different options.. Been trying to figure out how to update my curated list of roms from an up to date full set. then once that's done I can maybe just do a rescan in LB? The only thing I can think of is in LaunchBox, change the rom path for all my games selected to the Full set folder. That way it will then point to the latest versions. Then use the Export/Copy Roms to a new folder to copy them from where they are pointing in my full rom set to a new folder. Then finally repoint all the selected games to that new folder. The only thing that would be missing is any new games that I hadn't imported before, but I can monitor that manually with each release. Does this sound feasible... I guess I could try it.
  23. So 11.5 just came out with this... - Improvement: Better theme compatibility for installs that don't support symbolic links (such as on network drives or external drives running the exFAT file system). Not all themes are supported in this scenario, but theme support should be much improved. We still do not recommend running LaunchBox or Big Box off of a network drive or an external drive with the exFAT file system. So is this the fix I still have everything working fine with my manual simlinks.. just curious.
  24. Just a quick update Ran a bunch of games from multiple platforms, no issues Looked at some images, manuals, videos, no issues Looks like this is the fix for me at least for now! As for performance, it runs pretty much just as fast for me on the NAS as it does locally. Some people complain about slowness, but I think that might be when you first load it and it hasn't cached any images etc... Once you play it for awhile all that gets cached and seems to run very smooth. Also might be the latest code/release updates speeding things up too. Either way, IT RUNS GREAT ON A NAS!
  25. So I got to thinking after talking with Matris some, while Windows doesn't allow symlinking, my NAS itself should. So I went into FreeNAS (my NAS) and ran the command, ln -s /mnt/v01/Data/Emulators/LaunchBox/Themes /mnt/v01/Data/Emulators/LaunchBox/Core/Themes This manually created the symlink for the Themes directory, although you would also have to do this for all the other directories that need symlinks like manuals, images, etc... (list below) After I did this I launched BigBox from my NAS and sure enough, it WORKED! The linked directories in the \LaunchBox\core folder were linked properly and had links to all the files as needed. I literally just tested this so haven't even tried a game yet, but this looks like it may be a better work around!
