Hi @Sbaby hope you're well and apologies you haven't received any follow-up here. Just to let you know I'm going to look into this with the team, and will follow up on your request and also the ticket submission. Please allow me some time to get some clarification here, but I just wanted you to know that we're looking into this and will get back to you as soon as possible. Appreciate you bearing with us here

Hi @B-17 Bomber hope you're well. I've looked into this and Attract isn't currently supported from the Game Discovery Center. That said, to answer your original question, there is a keyboard/controller mapping that you can set to `Start Attract Mode`. So you can use this shortcut to start Attract Mode manually. I'm not 100% sure how your additional controls are accepting inputs, i.e if they are constantly sending inputs that stop Attract Mode from starting, you may want to consider turning off `Use All Controllers` In `Options > Controller` so that only your designed controller can control Big Box. Hope that helps clarify, let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi Folks, Just wanted to provide a quick update here, we're aware of the errors people are experiencing here and are actively looking into this. It's been tricky to pinpoint given the random nature of the errors, and a refresh of the page will (in most cases) make them go away. That said, we know it's an issue and have someone looking into this. Unfortunately we can't give an accurate ETA when this might be resolved, but as soon as we have any leads we'll be sure to let you know. Please do keep us posted here if you're noticing periods where they aren't just intermittent errors or any changes in behaviour from what you've seen previously. Apologies for the problems caused here, we'll keep you posted

Scan for Added ROMs seems to be taking ages recently
AstroBob replied to EvoluZion3's topic in Troubleshooting
Hey @EvoluZion3 thanks so much for the additional data points there. We're both running similar builds then (same version, game folder location etc) but the only different is mine is only around 2.5k games. Interesting that after the initial process, it's now completed in seconds, that makes me think it could be building some kind of file comparison table under the hood which it uses to compare to. I'm going to talk to the team to try and understand a bit more about what this process is checking for under the hood, and in the meantime do let me know how it runs today and throughout the week. If it reverts to the 3 minute scan it sounds likely that the initial comparison could be whats taking the time here. Keep me posted, and I'll keep you posted đ -
Hey @Isoku, I split your post out here so I can follow up, as I was also curious about this. So, unfortunately, it seems like you cannot have BIOS files organized by subfolders. LaunchBox will expect the BIOS files to be in the `system` location, and if you browse to a BIOS outside of this location using the `browse` option, it will simply copy that BIOS back into the `system` folder. I imagine this is a limitation with RetroArch, where it expects BIOS files to be in this location. I just ran a test whereby if you have your BIOS in subfolders, RetroArch won't find it correctly. I can't say if that's the case for ALL BIOS, as each core could be different, but unfortunately that means you're going to have to keep your BIOS in the default `Retroarch > system` folder. I agree, that it's a nice way to organise things at all, but I do find that the Manage Dependencies option in LaunchBox at least let's me identify which BIOS is related to which system. Hope that helps to clarify. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Nope, no need to change your save structure. This is exactly how I have mine setup and it recognises saves no problem. The only thing to be aware of is that the LaunchBox `Saves` folder, which stores the Save Backups, doesn't include a core directory. But this shouldn't be an issue anyways since when you backup / restore saves via the new UI, it moves everything into the right place. It's more just something in case you're wondering why it doesn't exactly mirror your RetroArch save directory. Hope that helps clarify.

Scan for Added ROMs seems to be taking ages recently
AstroBob replied to EvoluZion3's topic in Troubleshooting
Thanks for flagging this folks, I've run some tests on my own instance but unfortunately am not seeing what you're describing as the scan takes less than a couple of seconds. That said, there are a bunch of variables that could be causing this so let's try and narrow it down What LB version are you using? I'm assuming the latest 13.15? Is your `Games` directory located within your LaunchBox directory, or is it stored somewhere outside of this location? Do you experience slowness when scanning for additional ROMs, even if there aren't any new ROMs present? Or is it only when there are new ROMs present? Are there any differences when scanning for different platforms? I'm assuming not, as you mentioned it's still slow on platforms with a small number of games, but would be good to confirm What is your total game count roughly? Finally, to completely rule out any version issues, if you update to the latest beta (currently 13.16-3) do you experience the same issue? Let me know and we'll try to get to the bottom of this. -

Welcome to the club đ LaunchBox curation is a game all in itself! While a lot of this comes down to personal preference, one thing that might be worth considering is the `hidden` & `broken` checkbox fields. Both of these have view options tied to them in both LaunhBox & Big Box that will let you temporarily hide games marked with these fields. On the flip side, there is the option to let LaunchBox actually delete the ROM files from disk when you delete a game in your instance. This can be useful if you want to do your curation in LaunchBox, and then also let it tidy up the ROMs for you. Let us know how you get on, or if you need tips on specific curation workflows we'll do our best to advise

Iâll kick things off! For some of my favorite collection-style games, I like to create playlists that include both the collection itself and the original releases of each game it features. Itâs definitely a bit manual, but I love checking off the original releases as I complete them and easily comparing them with their remastered versions! The âpossible portsâ feature is another great way to do this, but thereâs something special about having my favorite hand-picked collections all together in one place. How about you? Looking forward to hearing your tips and favorite methods. And donât worry, this isnât just about collection-style gamesâshare any tidbit or trick you love to use to manage any of your games in LaunchBox!

Can you believe it? LaunchBox is turning 11 years old this month! From humble beginnings to a thriving and passionate community, the team has grown from a single visionary to a collaborative team of over 10 people in various full-time and part-time capacities. Since this week is a time of celebration for us, we want to shine a light on some of the amazing folks who are helping to shape the future of LaunchBox and make it what it is today. While we wonât be able to feature everyone on the team, and there are also multiple contributors both within and outside the community, we hope these posts offer some insight into some of the people working behind the scenes at LaunchBox who you might not know. This will give you a glimpse into their roles and history with the project. We're continuing our series of team members with Sal a.k.a @RetroPython Please introduce yourself and describe your role on the team Hi there! Iâm Sal, though you might know me better as RetroPython. I was fortunate enough to join the LaunchBox team about a year ago, and what a fantastic journey itâs been. My role revolves around bringing a unique retro flair to our video content, especially tutorials. From the start, I knew I wanted to do more than just teachâI wanted to create an experience. My goal with each tutorial is to make it engaging and informative while tapping into that deep well of nostalgia we all share. Whether itâs walking you through setting up a beloved classic system or uncovering hidden LaunchBox features, I strive to spark those memories of the first time we played these iconic games. Itâs about more than just revisiting the pastâitâs about reliving those magical moments when gaming was pure and full of wonder. Every video I create is a chance to connect with our amazing community, share the joy of retro gaming, and ensure that the LaunchBox experience is as seamless and enjoyable as possible. What is your history with LaunchBox? I was once a dedicated Hyperspin user, deeply invested in building my arcade setup. But over time, I grew increasingly frustrated with the complicated setup process and the lack of consistent updates. It became more of a chore than a joy, and I realized I needed something betterâsomething that would let me focus more on enjoying the games rather than wrestling with the software. About eight years ago, during one of my searches for a better solution, I stumbled upon Simply Austinâs LaunchBox videos. That moment was a turning point. The way Austin showcased LaunchBox opened my eyes to a whole new world of possibilities. It wasnât just about a better interface; it was about a front end that made everything easier, more intuitive, and infinitely more enjoyable. The transition felt like a breath of fresh air, as LaunchBox brought all the features I wanted without the headaches I had grown used to. Since that discovery, LaunchBox has been my go-to solution, completely transforming my approach to retro gaming. Itâs not just a tool; itâs a game changer. The flexibility, ease of use, and constant updates have kept me hooked, and I havenât looked back since. Thereâs simply nothing better out thereâLaunchBox is, without a doubt, the best way to relive those classic gaming experiences. What advice would you give to new LaunchBox users? The possibilities with LaunchBox are truly endless. Itâs a platform that opens up a world of retro gaming, where you can bring together all your favorite classics in one beautifully organized space. But with so much to explore and collect, itâs easy to get caught up in the thrill of building your library, sometimes to the point where you forget the very reason you startedâplaying the games! LaunchBox is designed with the gamer in mind, offering a wide range of features that make the setup process as smooth and efficient as possible. Whether youâre organizing your collection, setting up emulators, or customizing your front end, LaunchBox simplifies the steps so you can spend less time tinkering and more time actually enjoying your games. Itâs all about getting you to that moment where you can sit back, controller in hand, and dive into the nostalgia of your favorite titles. So, while itâs fun to amass an impressive collection, donât lose sight of what matters mostâthe gameplay. LaunchBox gives you everything you need to streamline the process, making it easier than ever to jump right into the action. So go ahead, fire up your favorite game, and start playing. After all, thatâs what itâs all about! What do you think is the most underrated LaunchBox feature? Without a doubt, MAME High Scores and RetroAchievements have completely transformed the way we experience our favorite classic games. Weâve all spent countless hours playing these timeless titles, but now, with these features, thereâs an added layer of excitement. MAME High Scores let you track and compete for the top spot, reigniting that competitive spirit we all remember from the arcades. Meanwhile, RetroAchievements bring a new dimension to gameplay, challenging you to unlock milestones and earn rewards that showcase your skills. These options donât just give you a reason to replay those beloved gamesâthey make every session feel fresh and rewarding. Itâs about more than just nostalgia; itâs about pushing your limits and securing those bragging rights. Whether youâre aiming for the highest score or unlocking every achievement, itâs time to dive back in and prove youâre still the best! What upcoming features or developments in LaunchBox are you most looking forward to? Iâm thrilled about the new feature that automatically downloads emulators in LaunchBox. Itâs made the whole process of getting into classic gaming even smoother. Now, itâs easier than ever to dive into those hard-to-emulate systems like the Atari Jaguar or to relive the magic of point-and-click adventures with ScummVM. Recently, I found myself lost in a marathon of old LucasArts games, something I hadnât done in years. Thanks to how effortless it is to set up ScummVM with LaunchBox, I was able to jump right into those nostalgic adventures without any hassle. The convenience and simplicity of this feature have reignited my love for these classics. With each update, LaunchBox keeps pushing the boundaries of whatâs possible, and I canât wait to see what theyâll introduce next. The future looks incredibly exciting for retro gaming enthusiasts like us! Whatâs your go-to gaming setup currently? Iâm a bit of a gaming enthusiast, playing on everything from original consoles to modern devices. But one of my favorite projects has been building a âRetro Pythonâ themed bar top arcade for my basement home theater room. This thing has become a centerpiece of funâwhether itâs classics like Wrestlefest, NBA JAM, or newer hits like Shredderâs Revenge, thereâs always someone playing on it. The nostalgia doesnât stop there, though. Iâm currently working on building a custom stand for the arcade, complete with shelving inside to store controllers, along with a collection of classic VHS tapes and LaserDiscs. Itâs all about embracing that retro vibe and bringing back the feeling of those golden gaming years. Retro all the way! The RetroPython-themed bar top arcade is so popular in our household that I almost feel like I need to stack my quarters on the edge to claim the next turn, just like we did in the old days! How do you envision the future of retro gaming? During the pandemic, the demand for retro games skyrocketed, and itâs easy to see whyâjust look at the prices of old consoles. Theyâve increased four to five times compared to pre-pandemic levels, and the trend doesnât seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Retro gaming is more popular than ever, but in todayâs fast-paced world, many of us are constantly on the go, making it tough to find the time to sit down and play like we used to. Thatâs where handhelds come inâtheyâre the perfect gateway for retro gaming in our busy lives. Iâm thrilled to see the incredible handheld devices that are being developed, offering a convenient way to enjoy classic games no matter where you are. And with LaunchBox enhancing the experience on these devices, itâs never been easier to keep that retro gaming spirit alive, even when life gets hectic. The future of gaming on the go looks bright, and I canât wait to see how it continues to evolve! And if youâre also passionate about retro handhelds, donât miss our 11th birthday celebration giveawayâthere are some fantastic handhelds up for grabs!

YES! I saw this as well, maybe give us some developer diaries who thought those tank controls were a good idea But that's part of its charm â¤ď¸
-
Ooooh very good pick! Yes Sonic Mega Collection is definitely up there with some of the best value and extra content in a collection!
-
Iâll get us started! Iâm a big fan of the âinteractive museumâ feature. Games like Kirbyâs Dream Collection do this incredibly well by placing the included games within a timeline. Itâs such a great way to see how far the series has come and to discover all the fun little trivia points from that era. It adds so much context and nostalgia to the experience!
-
Some fantastic discussions happening here! Remasters can be a hot topic, but it seems most agree that audio and visual overhauls are the standard. When it comes to control or gameplay updates, it can vary wildly depending on the specific game. Day 3 of the gauntlet is now complete and the winning game is... âď¸ TOMB RAIDER I-III REMASTERED âď¸ A well-regarded remaster, but it was honestly a class call between this and Ninja Gaiden. This will be one of the games with Steam keys up for grabs at the end of the event. Day 4 of the Great Game Gauntlet is now open, focusing on duologies!
-
Rules âšď¸ For a full list of rules and details on this event, please check out our master post here To be eligible to win, make sure you vote on the poll and answer the question via the comments section of this post DAY 4 đ Welcome to Day 4 of the Great Game Gauntlet! đ With LaunchBox embodying the spirit of collecting, weâre on a quest to discover: What makes a great video game collection? Today, we're looking at: Remastered Duology Collections! Continuing yesterdayâs theme of remasters, today weâre focusing on duology collections. Whether itâs an âHDâ makeover or a complete reworking of both games from the ground up with some added bonuses, these paired games are inseparable in our minds. The duology remastered combo offers great value, making it hard to imagine one without the other. Todayâs lineup of games contains classic duologies that have been remastered in some shape or form for modern platforms: Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 Remix Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania Klonoa: Phantasy Reverie Series A lot of folks yesterday mentioned that graphic and audio overhauls are key to a great remaster, with mixed opinions on controls and gameplay updates (game-dependent). Another interesting topic that came up was bonus content, so we're going to dive into that. If you want a chance to win one of the above games, make sure to cast your vote for the game youâd like to see advance to the next round and answer this question: âWhat types of bonus content do you think takes a remaster or collection to the next level â What types of bonus content take a collection from a simple re-release to an incredible package? Do you love concept art, manuals, developer interviews, or something more substantial like unreleased playable prototypes? Share your thoughts, and feel free to give examples of bonus content done rightâor suggest something new that no one has done before but would be awesome to see. Weâd love to hear what you think! đšď¸

This will give you a glimpse into their roles and history with the project. We're continuing our series of team members with Andriy a.k.a @x4ml Please introduce yourself and describe your role on the team Hi, Iâm Andriy, but you might know me as x4ml on the forums. I joined the LaunchBox team in August 2023. My role is to support the Android application and develop new features that enhance the mobile experience. Iâm here to turn your ideas into reality, making sure the mobile app continues to evolve and meet your needs. Whether itâs fixing bugs or implementing exciting new features, Iâm dedicated to making the Android version of LaunchBox the best it can be. A little snapshot of my daily workspace đŹ What is your history with gaming? I started my gaming journey with the Sony PlayStation. I was so hooked that Iâd even give up my ice cream money just to spend two hours at a computer club playing Crash Bandicoot. Over the years, my passion for console gaming faded when my parents bought me a PC, but it never completely went away. Since discovering LaunchBox, my love for nostalgic games has been reignited, and Iâm excited to dive back into those classic experiences once again. LaunchBox gave me an excuse to dust off this old classic again! Whatâs the most challenging aspect of your role? Iâd say the most challenging part is addressing bugs that are tricky to reproduce. Iâm driven to find solutions, but when bugs donât happen consistently or come and go, it can feel like trying to find a needle in a haystack! However, the satisfaction of finally reproducing and fixing the issue is incredibly gratifying. What are some of your proudest moments while working on LaunchBox? My proudest moments are when we publish a new update and users take the time to thank us on the forum for the new features and improvements. Seeing the positive impact our work has on the community makes all the effort worthwhile. Itâs incredibly rewarding to know that what weâre building is appreciated and making a difference for the users. What upcoming features or developments in LaunchBox for Android are you most looking forward to? I canât reveal all the features weâre working on for future versions, but thereâs one idea Iâm really excited about. Weâre developing an extraordinary feature for animated transitions between pages, and the best part is that users will be able to customize these transitions to match their own styles. Itâs going to add a whole new level of personalization and flair to the app! If you had a magic wand, what LaunchBox feature would you wish into existence? Iâd love to develop a version of the app for iOS devices. It would be fantastic to bring the LaunchBox experience to even more users on different platforms. Even though the iOS emulation scene feels like it is just getting started, it would be amazing to jump through all the technical hurdles to make it a reality. There are a lot of barriers to overcome there, but who knows, maybe someday! The iOS emulation scene is only just getting started What is your favorite game of all time and why? When it comes to PC games, Counter-Strike is my all-time favoriteâwhether itâs 1.6, Global Offensive, or CS 2. The competitive gameplay and the community have always kept me hooked. On the console side, I have a special love for Contra. The fast-paced action and co-op gameplay bring back great memories every time I play it. You don't get much of a better opening level than this đŞ Do you have any hobbies outside of gaming? Iâm really into fishing. I can spend 12 hours out there and come home without catching a single fish, but I love it. For me, fishing is pure relaxationâa way to unwind and enjoy some peace and quiet, regardless of the outcome. Maybe I should explore the world of fishing games đ I know thereâs a big fanbase for those, but for me, nothing beats the real thing for peak relaxation. Iâve heard this one is pretty goodâmaybe some arcade fishing die-hards can share their suggestions đŹ Stay tuned for more "Meet The Team" posts coming throughout the week! đ

Iâll kick things offâpersonally, I love when remasters give us options. Itâs great when developers update the games but allow us to revert to the original if we want. For example, being able to switch graphical styles on the fly in Tomb Raider Remastered or choosing between original and remastered soundtracks. Itâs a fantastic way to honor the original while letting us see how far the game has come. Dream scenario: Give me a Superman 64 remaster with an option to toggle between the original controls and ones that are actually usable! đ Maybe even a mode that randomly switches back to the original controls without warning and tie some achievements to it! đą
