What's particularly odd about this is that almost nothing was changed between the previous beta and this release. Were you using the previous beta @Antropus?

Well that's good to know, thanks. So sigh, how can I fix the installer. Hmm. Sorry if I was short with you there; nothing irritates me more than this particular problem. I've dealt with it in the past and it makes me want to burn all the anti-virus companies to the ground. I'll play with the installer to see if there's anything I can do.

It's not the first time we've triggered a false positive and it certainly won't be the last. Nothing I can do about it unfortunately. You may be able to report it to Kaspersky as a false positive, not sure.

I'll take a look at the Sources bug. My guess is that there are no games in your collection that have a populated Source field, so it's choking. Still, it shouldn't crash in that scenario so I'll review. Thanks. :)

Hi @Dal, a couple things. Try switching to the Windows Media Player video playback engine in the general settings. You can also disable animations which may help to increase performance. Also some questions for you: - What are your system specs (CPU, RAM, video card, etc.)? - How many games total are in your collection? If your system was old enough to be running XP, unfortunately it may just be too old to run Big Box smoothly. A decent modern CPU and video card are required in order for it to run smoothly.

Absolutely. Eventually we'll add full editing for developers and publishers, and I plan to add merging functionality for games, developers, and publishers as well. We'll get to that stuff once I get the Add New Game functionality implemented this week. :)

Hi Manny, thanks much for chiming in. My personal preference is to indeed keep it PG-13 as well. We do have some users who want the ability to upload stuff that isn't, but at this point the rules are that nudity is not allowed. Before we ever allow nudity we will implement an age gate and an option to hide those games. Great ideas @Cebion. You reminded of a few things too. Are you good with my plan for Multiplayer Modes? We should definitely add most of the fields you've listed above eventually, but of that list I think alternate titles are probably the most important. So that is planned and should be implemented first before the rest. I probably won't try and tackle all of those all at once.

I'll be adding new fields soon to the database. I want to add all new fields in one fell swoop so I figured we should discuss it first. Open to ideas and suggestions about new fields to add. First off, one field I want to add is Series, to match the Series field that we have in LaunchBox. Beyond that, I want to better handle the description for multiplayer games. Right now we have "Max Players" and "Cooperative" but that doesn't quite cover all the details. At first I thought about replacing Max Players and adding a new "Play Mode" field to match the one in LaunchBox with options like "2-Player Alternating" and "2-Player Simultaneous", but with online games these days I'm thinking that would get unruly fast. So my current plan is to keep "Max Players" and add a new field called "Multiplayer Modes" with these options: Alternating Simultaneous Cooperative Online Split-Screen This would eliminate the Cooperative check box (we can move the data over to the new field easily). Also, of course you would be able to select several of these options at once. Looking for feedback on the above and also any new fields you think are important to add. Thanks guys! I'd like to nail these down before I implement the last major piece, which is adding new games.

I'm not an expert on the matter, but I've been marking any box with PEGI as Europe. We may need to change our region list; right now it's basically just continents. If anyone has concrete details on that stuff, let me know. I quickly reviewed a few other sites and came up with what we have.

Hi @Izzy, I'll be adding that this week. We're opening things up one thing at a time as I can develop them. :)

Images from one region should never replace an image from another region (we want to keep both images instead). So if a user submitted an image replacement that replaces a European image with a US one, or vice versa, it should be refused. Instead, users should be adding a new image with the correct region listed on it, and if necessary, they can update the old image to be the correct region as well. Sooner or later I will be adding notes text blocks to the moderation and submissions so that we can explain this to people in the moderation process. Also, I think it'd be nice to have an option to keep both images in this situation. So that'll be coming eventually as well.
