I'm like most of you, in that it takes a lot for a game to keep my interest. As strange as it may sound though, the games I've enjoyed enough to actually complete, I usually complete more than once. My biggest problem, though, is in putting down a game (as I've done with many an RPG) for a few months and, by the time I get back to it, I've forgotten where I was and had to start over. Oh, and to keep it on topic, here's my PSP collection. ;) EDIT: Dummy that I am, I forgot the image. :P Also, there seems to be a game missing on shelf 2. Hmmm.

bd000 said It worked for me. Found both .lnk and .exe files. Also picked up Dolphin and PuTTY. Ok, now I'm even more confused. I have Battlefield 3, Bejeweled 3, and Dolphin installed. Why isn't it seeing them for me? -

Non-installed Steam/GOG Galaxy/Origin games import feature
Hippyshake replied to CliveBarker's topic in Features
I'm sorry for you to wake up to bad news, Jason, but on running 4.9 beta 1, I received error messages: When I closed that window it hadn't found anything to import. I then installed the second testing version and it did a scan but didn't find anything. It appears that the only thing it's scanning is the Start Menu. It's picking up dead shortcuts (which I've verified are, in fact, dead), but it's also not finding the ones that actually work. Log is attached. I hope this helps. -

Jason Carr said Ugh, that sucks, John. Congrats on your Fusion though. I'm gonna work on a debug version here in a few minutes that I'll upload here and everyone can try. It should be up in less than an hour. Thanks, Jason, The Fusion is a nice car, but I'll miss my convertible. This one has a sun roof though, so my girlfriend thinks it's a compromise. :) We're just getting home and getting something to eat , then bed...got 2 hours sleep last night. In the morning though, I'll put the new beta through its paces! -
Cadet Stimpy said Jason, how many posts do I need to get a Positronic Brain, such as Data's (from Star Trek)? (Trivia: The Positronic Brain was originally conceived by science-fiction writer, Isaac Asimov). More trivia: In Star Trek: Insurrection, when Data is malfunctioning, Picard gets him to recite Gilbert and Sullivan's "H.M.S. Pinafore". In the Isaac Asimov story "Runaround" a malfunctioning robot recites Gilbert and Sullivan while evading capture by his human masters. Heading for my 32-Bit GPU ;)

Jason Carr said That's exactly what I don't understand. And why would it work fine for me, but not for you guys? That's why I need your help troubleshooting it. If you still want help tomorrow, I'll do whatever you need. Yesterday I had the car towed (that broke down 20 miles from home - $160 tow charge - ouch), and ended up trading it in for a 2011 Ford Fusion. Great car, but now I'm trying to find the title for the old car and get it cleaned out and this put behind me. -
It's a slippery, slippery slope, my friends. :D

Faceless said Thanks for the response. This might be another good option for your premium option. If I started using this more I plan on upgrading. Thanks for all your work! I agree; this would be incentive for some people, I think, without really crippling the free version.

Non-installed Steam/GOG Galaxy/Origin games import feature

Sorry I haven't been around. Why would this version miss all the games the previous versions caught, though? I get nothing from the Windows scan, and I've added games to my system, but not removed them. -
With today's update, on a clean LB install, I'm no longer getting any games via the Windows import (even the MS-DOS ones I used to get ;) ).

Non-installed Steam/GOG Galaxy/Origin games import feature
Hippyshake replied to CliveBarker's topic in Features
This morning, I'm downloading several GOG (Windows specific) games via the Galaxy client, which installs to an external drive (no OS). I'll also download the same games via their old installer, which places them on the C:\ (with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS). Then I'll try scanning each with a fresh LaunchBox install and see what happens. The betting pool is now open. :) EDIT @ 9:38am: Or, possibly not, as GOG seems to be having massive server side problems at the moment. It also appears that, effective today, GOG's older client is no more, as clicking on games from your library (via the website, not Galaxy) starts a direct download of the executable. Bummer. EDIT to my edit: Yep...with today's update, on a clean LB install, I'm no longer getting any games via the Windows import (even the MS-DOS ones I used to get ;) ). Posting this to the Beta Report thread. -
Just a warning for those of you with a Bundle Bandits account: They'll be shutting down on June 22, 2015, so get your keys redeemed or copied. Here's the source of the info. Here's Bundle Bandits (which, at this time, still says "New bundle coming soon"). :-/

Cool links, Stimpy! That blog might be cool, too, if it had a lot more material.

SentaiBrad said portachking said Hi Jason, I tried that, it made no difference I'm afraid. Just throwing an idea into the dark here, but I have two hardrives. All of my games are installed on my E drive, while Windows is installed on a smaller SSD C drive. I wonder if others have the same setup and if that has something to do with it? I dont think it should. Regardless of where a game gets installed, most of the time it writes to your registry and makes links with shortcusts in your start menu; which is a folder you can navigate to. LB is looking for those links then using. In the case of GOG, some games require that the game be launched via this route. Jason, all of my GOG games are not duplicates. If I had it on Steam, I wouldn't need it on GOG ;) So duplicates shouldn't be an issue. I had a similar issue though, in that I had three copies of Grimrock installed, and it only caught the one on drive C:. Not sure if it's related, but the only way to know for sure is to do similar installs on dual drives, and do clean scans to see what LB picks up. Unfortunately, I think may have cracked my radiator tonight 20 miles outside of town, so I'm going to be busy tomorrow. Soon as I can though, I'll check this out. -
ok, no worries then. Nothing broke. The percentages were for my own amusement. :)

Jason Carr said Awesome. Yeah, the searches/missing metadata are our biggest issue here, but I'm hoping that will be solved when we finally get to build the new metadata system. Sounds like we're ready for a release. :) Am I missing something specific? I feel like I might have misinterpreted what you wanted me to do.

Just out of curiosity what was you first ever computer and game console?

Cadet Stimpy said I have Netflix and Amazon Prime, so I have access to more programming than I could ever watch, but I'd be hard-pressed to give-away my collection now. But, I'm certainly up for 'willing it' to someone. Yeah, that's the downside, that you're paying to lease content that you can't pass on. I gave a bunch to my daughter though, so not all of it went in the bin. I have NF and AP too, but I've added Hulu recently, because NF got rid of almost all of their BBC programs, and most of my favorite shows are from them. AP scoring HBO was huge though..finally got to watch the rest of The Sopranos and Oz. So much money saved of box sets. I do miss commentaries and behind the scenes features though. I wish the streaming companies would start arrying some of the extras. Hulu does to an extent, but not commentaries. -
Jason Carr said Sure, one thing that I feel like needs more testing is the Download Images and Metadata Wizard. I just fixed a bunch of bugs that I didn't know were there, so I'm hoping I caught them all. That would be a huge help if you wanna tackle it. Just do everything you can to break it. :) I'm not sure how detailed you wanted to get with it, but I tried every combination I could think of. I also did separate Steam imports for each database (without Steam banners), just to get an idea of how much was being grabbed. LocalDB: art retrieved for 471 out of 841 games (56%) TheGamesDB: art retrieved for 488 out of 841 games (58.3%) Wikipedia: art retrieved for 284 out of 841 games (33.77%) LocalDB + TGDB + Wikipedia: art retrieved for 526 out of 841 games (62.54%) Steam Banners Only: art retrieved for 841 out of 841 games (100%) All options, all databases: 841 out of 841 games (100%) A couple of notes: I have a few betas and obsolete versions that Steam has, for whatever reason, kept in my library. Those do not exist in any database, so they were not included in the count or percentages. I knew that LocalDB was a copy of TGDB, so I expected those to be similar (which is why I didn't try those two as a combination). By far, the worst database was Wikipedia (as was expected); not only did it contain fewer entries, but it made more mistakes, as it was unable to discern between classic games and remakes (such as "Gauntlet," which it thought was the original arcade version). I wouldn't say anything "broke," with the exception of TGDB's usual timeouts. I wonder if it's just being pinged a bit too fast? Anything else I should try?

Hippyshake replied to kamyk2000's topic in Games
That's really impressive. I gave away about 6 of those cases a few years ago and, with the exception of a few Blu-Ray box sets, went completely digital. I liked the compactness of them, but missed having cases on display. Your setup is a really great compromise. Love the speakers, too! -
Typically, his games sell for $4.99 or less, so I imagine this one will follow suit. I'll see if I can find out. (Price is up. $4.49 US until May 15, then $4.99) You should only consider it if you really want an experience that will make you wonder what it all means. He's very strong in his faith (he actually started Seminary before deciding it wasn't where he was being called), but he's very drawn to Hebrews, which is likely the most difficult book in the Bible to interpret (imo, even more so than Revelations). Because of that, his games can be pretty dark. Hmmm...published that at 2am...I don't remember mentioning the darkness in the review. I should append that. (EDIT: tweaked it a bit to expand the paragraph on the religious aspect of "Selfie," and include the Wikipedia link on Bulletin Board Systems. I also changed the summation slightly to read. "For me, eliciting a physical response while encouraging reflection is a form of art that games rarely aspire to, and even less frequently achieve.")

Indeed. It's been pretty amazing to watch them grow from really grainy videos before there even was a Youtube, to a full fledged documentary. I can't remember if the Moebius is mentioned in it or not, but it's a pretty good film. We Cause Scenes: The Rise of Improv Everywhere - Netflix, Hulu, Youtube. Oh, did I mention I like Roguelikes?
