Update 3 So like i had said before, i added my new GPU but the heat was too much 80C on GPU and 65-70C on the m.2 ssd so as you can see in the linked pictures i did some case moding and added some fans. Temps are now much better and the ssd runs way cooler like 40C... oh i also went to the local hardware store ( bunnings ) and purchased some like draw handles to use as some larger legs to let the new fans breathe better. http://imgur.com/a/DCfzq

Nvidia Help: Launching Shadowplay/Share via cmd line
Mute64 replied to Mute64's topic in Troubleshooting
Not sure if you guys would be able to help as this is a Nvidia problem i am trying to solve not a problem with Launchbox. Ok so i have kodi launching over/before explorer.exe so windows never actual boots up so kodi, steam and xpadder are all launched via a .bat file with "start" commands to each application and i also would like to have the "geforce share" feature launch as well so i can record my games once they are launched via the front end but i cannot work out how to do this. With this command line i can start Shadowplay but it always starts disabled Start "C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA GeForce Experience\GFExperience.exe" -ShadowPlay How could i achieve this with the share feature? here is a link to the share beta if anyone is interested http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience/gfe-beta -
Just got back from a very long night, took my setup around to a friend's place a played 4player coop games all night, good times.

Here are a few Suggestions to brainstorm over. Community Showcase: - This could be a video series to showcase user submitted setups (Hardware/software) that use LaunchBox/Bigbox, here is an example from TechSource https://youtu.be/qQa-zjHO9lw?t=26s Retro Mod/Hack Series - This could be a series that looks into all sorts of mods/hacks for emulation/retro gaming. As an example 007 - GoldenEye has many apon many new single player levels, game tweaks, Multiplayer levels and even a entire new game as a mod, or you could look at comparing custom texture packs against vanilla textures like this awesome guy has done in a few of his videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51UEGkLdWGU And yea a NEWS segment would be pretty good aswell.
-
You could almost do a video segment on all the updates/things to come in the emulation world. Off the top head here are some recent updates to talk about. PPSSPP 1.2 EPSE 2.0 Retroarch 1.3 Dolphins Direct x 12 support Retroarchs Vulkan support RPCS3 Vulkan support
-
Apparently my main gripe with this emulator is fixed as well it no longer has that issue of running in the background when you exit wrongly. Also so much other emulation news its overwhelming, Dx12 support,Vulkan support and numerous emulators updating.. https://www.reddit.com/r/emulation/comments/468hlg/epsxe_20_for_windows_have_been_released/

This is how i do it, this is just a copy past from the interwebs but you can pretty much do it with any programe, i do it with Kodi and Launch BigBox thru Kodi. Making Registry Edits so that Steam runs as your shell ============================================== This is the trickier bit and involves some commitment to Steam on your part, though is easily reversible - it will make Steam run instead of your normal Windows Desktop after Windows has booted and you've logged in. 1. Bring up the Windows 'Run' dialogue box, either from the Start Menu or by pressing your Windows key and R at the same time. 2. Type 'regedit' and click OK. 3. Navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] 4. Right click in the folder pane to the right and select 'New > String Value' 5. Name it 'Shell.' 5. Right click on 'Shell' and select 'Modify.' 6. Type in the path to Steam.exe and click OK. By default on a 64 bit system the full path will be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe” - personally I just have Steam installed at root - "C:\Steam" :) ========================================================== Part 3 (optional): Setup your PC to automatically login to your Windows account ========================================================== If you are not a complete security nut and only have one account on your PC, you can set it up to automatically login, so you don't have to select a user and/or type a password. Instructions for this varies according to your Windows version. See here for full information: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstricks/f/auto-login-windows.htm NOW REBOOT YOUR PC AND CROSS YOUR FINGERS YOU DID IT ALL OKAY! Whilst waiting for your PC to boot up, grab your Xbox 360 Controller and turn it on ready to navigate that lovely Steam Big Picture Mode. ============== Troubleshooting etc ============== If you get only a black screen with a cursor instead, or your gamepad doesn't work, or whatever, press control+alt+delete and select 'Task Manager.' Go to File>New Task (Run) and type "explorer.exe" - this should bring back your regular desktop until you log in again. You can also use this method to access Windows if you want to do anything else. Go back and check that you made all the registry edits exactly right. To remove the Steam bootingness, just delete the 'Shell' entry you added.

ok so i was playing some N64 i navigated to the system and selected my game ( conkers bad fur day ) and started playing, i put down my Xbox one controller and picked up my n64 controller played for an hour or so, so my xbone controller turned off, when i went to turn it on to exit the game ( select + start ) i could not exit, so that was weird. The reason i could not exit was because Launchbox had crashed in the background ( Launchbox has stoped working ), now is this because of my controller auto turning off i dont no but i thought ild report back. I may just sit down n watch n wait till my Xbone controller turns off to see if it happens again.

Who else is excited for the release of the xbox-one chatpad thats windows 10 compatible. Im pretty excited, i had the 360 version but it was a pain in the arse to get working on pc since it wasn't officially supported. This chatpad pretty much puts a keyboard+controller in the palms of your hands you could now map all those extra keys to features like save and load states, fast forward/ rewind, switch shaders and many more mappable features that Retroarch/BigBox have, it sure as hell beats trying to use xpadder and then trying to ex0lain to you noob friends how the button layout works lol.

SentaiBrad said The PS1 core runs fine for me usually. What overlay are you using? Are you using a filter too? Is your PC any decent? In combination with Filters and Overlays with certain resolutions your PC just might not run it well. Is this all games too or some games? Yea i have filters+overlay+custom resolution. I have only tested like 3 or 4 games. I can play Dolphin, GameCube, PCXS2, and epsxe just fine so i would imagine it should be able to handle the Medenfen core. But as you said it runs fine for you so ill have to have a more in depth look into it, ill start by taking the filters, custom resolution and overlay off. Geee these math questions get hard...... Jokes ;)
-
Is it just me and my setup or is the Medenfen core abit unstable? My Games seam to lockup/freaze at random times but i can still use the Retroarch menue and load save states and what not but if i resume the game its stilll in its frozen state. Im using an overlay with a custom resolution and have not touched any of the core settings. I have still got a bit of setting-up/organising of my ps1 game files as half of them do not have .cue files and they are all in one folder :( so yea ive got to create some properly named folders and cue files so i can test the rest of my psx library.

Jason Carr said Hehehehehe, yes, we do plan on selling merch at some point here. I do have them in vector format, @DOS76. Here you go. :) You should hopefully just be able to remove the blue overlay to get to the standard LaunchBox logo. Cool cheers ill see what i can do and ill post up the finished product on here when i get around to doing it.

Ok soo im all updated now and have moved all my controller configurations to the Xbox One in preparation for the launch of the chatpad on the 29th........ buuuuttt unfortunately kodi (my main frontend ) has not got full 100% official support. .. so that makes things a little hard.... for now..... theres always away to work around these things. But yea emulation wise everything seams to be fine so far :)
-
Jason Carr said Hi guys, I remember that issue from a while ago, but I thought I had fixed it. What version are you running Ribbit? Yea i have had the odd crash here n there, never when im using LaunchBox mostly when it sitting in the background.... so yea not sure if thats just like one off kind of crashing or if its due to the controller turning off... never realy put the two together, it hasn't crashed enough for it to raise my attention. But yea ill see if it is caused by the controller turning off.
-
Jason Carr said Ha, nice @mute64. Awesome video, looks like a lot of work went into that, so thanks. What's your job title? ;) Per the LaunchBox logo, it was a little tiny icon created by someone a long time ago that gave me permissions to use it. Since then @bd000 graciously made and gave me a bigger copy of it. It's still just the logo though, so not sure how well it would work in a pattern. Do you want the Big Box or the LaunchBox one? Yea alot of work has and will be still going into it, its almost a full time hobby lol. Im just a sign-writer but in this industry that can varry alot from doing large sticker runs to installing/fabricating building signs to doing car wraps and so on n so forth. Ok kool kool, um both would be great then i can work from there and see what looks best, lol could make a little sticker with the bigbox logo and have it say "BigBox Inside" ya know kinda like the intel inside logo ( https://www.google.com.au/search?q=intel+inside&client=ms-android-optus-au&prmd=ivsn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiqmrnKwrLKAhXJp5QKHUxFD3IQ_AUIBygB#imgrc=TVpb4Aii0-XM_M%3A ) But yea a full wrap would look pretty different, do you no if the artwork is vector?

Ok then time to make the move to win 10
-
My main Rig is running windows 10 and i rather like it, but my Launchbox machine is running Win 8.1, i have not yet updated it since i have herd that Win 10 can have issues with a few emulators..... but on the 29th on January the Xbox One chatpad ( http://games.highdefdigest.com/uploads/jb/xbox_one_chatpad_full.jpg ) that is compatible with PC is released but you need Win 10 to use it and i really want to have that chat pad as an ad-on to my Xbox One controllers since you have soooo many more buttons you can utilize to make emulation much easier.... but yea like i said i would need to update to windows 10. So who here has done the shift on there LaunchBox/Emulation setup, and what issues have you came across with your emulators and win 10?
-
SentaiBrad said I'm afraid it won't handle the PS3 or 360 Emulators, but by the time they are finally ready to go we'll be a lot farther in GPU power. yea ild say by then i would have the latest itx GPU and i7 cpu that i can get my hands on. ps3 and ekbok emulation is coming along rather nice i must say. Oh by the way i would like to vinyl wrap my mini itx case in the LaunchBox theme, who would i contact to get ahold of the artwork? Wraping things is pretty much my job, here is a few photos of my last project http://imgur.com/a/nQTbn
-
Yea i have had nothing but bad luck with AMD with there cpus and GPU's but the r9 nano is so dam small..... but yea a itx 970 would be the jam, and im sure it would be plenty enough horse power for upcoming emulators/games. My current build handles everything that i have on the build im actually really supersized how well it plays some of those modern AAA titles.

In the video ( once its finished processing ) it will say down the bottom left what hardware is in it. Altho that hardware will be changing in the future Currently it is an i3 4150 8 gig ram 120 gig m.2ssd 2x 1TB HDDS 750 Ti and an AIO 120 water loop. in the future i could put an i5/i7 in there and a itx 970 or r9 nano...

Hello fellow LaunchBox users. Yesterday i spent a good 3 hours writing about my experiences with emulation and front ends over the last decade or more .... unfortunately i wrote this up on my phone and i mistakenly deleted my write up before posting it so today i thought i would share a quicker style write up/video of my Bigbox/Kodi/SteamBig Piture setup via pictures and a video, and maybe further down the line i will discuss my previous issues, workarounds, emulation setups, front-ends experiences and just general stuff like my future projects and what not. While there is still a few issues here and there the setup is pretty much 100% usable with a controller ( with the help of Controller Compainion of course ) Here are some Photos of the PC: http://imgur.com/a/90WW9 http://imgur.com/a/KvVUw Here is a video of the Software i use: Here is a future project: http://imgur.com/a/atWPN
