  1. Hello fellow LaunchBox users. Yesterday i spent a good 3 hours writing about my experiences with emulation and front ends over the last decade or more .... unfortunately i wrote this up on my phone and i mistakenly deleted my write up before posting it so today i thought i would share a quicker style write up/video of my Bigbox/Kodi/SteamBig Piture setup via pictures and a video, and maybe further down the line i will discuss my previous issues, workarounds, emulation setups, front-ends experiences and just general stuff like my future projects and what not. While there is still a few issues here and there the setup is pretty much 100% usable with a controller ( with the help of Controller Compainion of course ) Here are some Photos of the PC: http://imgur.com/a/90WW9 http://imgur.com/a/KvVUw Here is a video of the Software i use: Here is a future project: http://imgur.com/a/atWPN
  2. Yup SentaiBrad said Have you updated to the latest version of LB? Yup im on the latest. I found the culprit system that was causing the metadata/artwork from stop downloading/close, it was my SMS system, now i have to see what in my SMS is causing the issue. Been flat out at work so probably wont get onto that untill maybe the weekend.
  3. Jason Carr said Hi @mute64, if you're seeing an error or if the importer is disappearing, let me know. I had to fix an issue with the EmuMovies downloads where if you put double quotes in the title of the game, it chokes. Let me know if you're seeing that (could be more characters to look out for). "or if the importer is disappearing" thats what it does!, but yea ill do it again tonight afterwork .. ill record me doing it then post a vid up so you can see it for yourself.
  4. SentaiBrad said Select a system on the left, Ctrl + A, Tools -> Download Metadata and Images. That's not working? Doing a system at one time works fine, its just when i want todo say3 systems i select all the games from those systems then choose download metadata and then it does the usal searching thing for each system but not from the roms.... kinda confusing lol ill have another go at it after work and see what happens then i can explain myself better :)
  5. Jason Carr said Also, if you have an FTP account you might find it quicker to download an entire system's videos that way, for example. That might get them to you quicker. Yea i will have to look into that. At the moment im updating my library system by system with video snaps, i was hoping i could just select all my games and have it download over night/while im at work, but unfortunately for some reason that wouldn't work, ill have too look into what happens/why it doesn't seam to work.
  6. SentaiBrad said No GB per hour or day limit. Just can't have certain resources if you don't pay for it. Ok cool. So i purchased the life time supporter for emumovies a few months back, so that unlimited to what i can download correct?
  7. Yup thats certainly the way todo it. Thanks. By the way is there a download limit for emumovies when using it thru launchbox?
  8. Ok i think i know what my issue was. I remember awhile ago i added the Atari 2600 to launchbox but for some reason i decided to remove the system thinking it would also remove the games for that system but i geuss it doesn't do that, so when i went to add the roms again it said 0 impported. So whats the best way to delete games and a system from launchbox? EDIT: Google to the rescue again https://www.launchbox-app.com/forum/troubleshooting/im-trying-to-figure-out-how-to-remove-a-platform-that-i-added
  9. SentaiBrad said My suggestion as always is RetroArch of course. We have tutorials up on our YouTube channel regarding RetroArch. Once setup retroarch is so yum lol. Altho i have never been able to get my ps1 games working.... even after your tut video. I have the correct bios, im geussing its an issue with the .cue files maybe. Im not sure. Ill start a new topic on my issue if i can not work it out my self.
  10. Dam that sucks, might have a google and see if i can find a separate program that can remove my dupes. Other wise yea ill be doing it manually. Had to force the Atari 2600 to allow dupes because otherwise i get that " 0 Games imported issue " and from what ive read to fix that you need to delete your launchbox.xml file but that would then mean i would need to add all my other systems back, or you can accept dupes in your system which i choose over the other method.
  11. Hey all, My LaunchBox setup is coming along realy well just need a little help on these two matters, cheers. How do i remove duplicate games? Also i want to start adding video snaps for my collection but i do not want them stored on my C drive because there is limited space, so how would i bulk add video snaps of the games i currently have but have the videos save to a different drive ? I know one way of doing this but if launchbox has its own method i would rather do it that way. In the mean time ill look over launchbox and see if i can work it out myself, maybe change the directory of my video snaps if i can find that option. Edit: ill probably end up using this method to solve my video snap directory problem . http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/nifty-way-safely-move-folders-or-programs-another-drive-or-partition-windows-7.htm
  12. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/communications/chatpad "Use the Chatpad with both Xbox One and Windows 10" Sounds promising
  13. Jason Carr said It sounds to me like it was caused by the XML file getting corrupted, which can happen if LB crashes or force closes. It shouldn't happen often, but unfortunately it does happen (which is why we have backups). I need to make it just automatically restore a backup, at least, if that happens. Oh right good too know, yea an auto restore xml would be good. :)
  14. Jason Carr said Yeah, we had this implemented before (searched the hard drive for installed Steam games), but it was horribly glitchy. Unfortunately, there's not a good way to do it. No worries it isn't a huge annoyance for me and it is easy enough to delete the games i do not want.
  15. Well thats typicall, lol i have yet to recreate the xml error lol, but now i think about it, its probably because i unchecked the beta version on Launchbox i geuss. I will have to recheck it and then see if i have the issue again.
  16. Only problem i jave with adding my steam id is that launch box then adds all my games i own but i do not have them all installed or do not want them on my arcade pc due to they are purely KBnM supported, if i coud have it just search my currently installed pc games on my arcade machine it would be much better, since at the moment i have to go thru all the gamed i dont want and then delete them.
  17. Maddoc1007 said Here is a way for windows to boot directly to frontends http://www.mp3car.com/the-faq-emporium/51635-faq-boot-directly-into-your-front-end.html This is how i have been using steam big picture/launch box/GameEX. You literally see your mobo logo flash up ( which you can disable in your bios) then b4 windows even logs you in your choosen front end will open up. Even if you say pressed alt f4 and closed the front end all that is on your screen is a black screen :) no taskbar nothing. CTRl ALT DELETE still works so you can always still open up the task manager and open up regedit to stop your front end launching over windows. I was using launchbox to boot this way but i have reverted back to steam big picture as i prefer its full control support lay out and it looks very nice n slick, then if i dont want to play any of my steam games i have added launchbox to my steam big picture so i can still boot it up and navigate all my old school/emulated games via a controller. I really do like the way launchbox is going, out of all the "frontends" i have tried its the easiest to add artwork and game descriptions and what not, like 90% of my games automatically loaded there own artwork and descriptions, now that would have taken me so friggin long to manually do it myself. Once Launchbox/Bigbox becomes more visually appealing to me it will definitely be my main frontend.
  18. Jason Carr said If you'd rather not upload it, you can email it to jasondavidcarr at gmail dot com. That way I can look to see what's wrong and get it fixed. Thanks @Mute64. Yup, i will upload it. Next time it happens. Probably will tonight.
  19. Just updated to the latest Launchbox beta, unfortunately im now getting the error " your Launchbox. Xml file was somehow corrupted. Unexpected error of file while passing has occurred. Line 86092 position 9." So i have to use my backup xml file to boot up launchbox.
  20. bd000 said Great news! I will have take a closer look at this. Thanks @Mute64 Yea just make sure you follow all the steps correctly, from memory it is a bit of an effort to get it setup.
  21. bd000 said Doesn't this only work with wired controllers? https://code.google.com/p/xbox360wirelesschatpad/ Wireless chatpad driver^
  22. Mine was a silverstar. .... a atari 2600 clone with 64 built in games... i think it was only released in NZ and is a very rare system, even trying to google it is hard. Lol
  23. It completely slipped my mind to try this chatpad driver out this weeknd. Came across this write up on the driver and according to the comments it may not work on win 8.1 :( http://www.videogameperfection.com/2013/11/28/xbox-360-chatpad-and/
  24. Cheers, at the moment i have just disabled the Autohotkey feature and i am just using a xpadder profile to close games/emulators, i still use select+start for the xbox controller and i use start+L for the n64, oh and also select+LB for closing epsxe as it needs to be closed via escape instead of alt f4. Did plenty of testing in the weekend and have plenty of tweaking to go to make it more user friendly so ppl can just turn on the pc and play.
  25. So i use my Xbox360 controller for most of my games but for the n64 i use a n64 controller which is classified as a generic usb Joystick on the pc, i noticed launchbox only accepts inputs from one controller which is fine but AutoHotKey feature accepts inputs from multiple controllers so when im playing n64 games the button A and Z closes the game :( very anoying. If i could Just have one Master controller like the x360 controller to navigate LaunchBox and close games would be good.
