  1. Switching to Windows Media Player worked, but now any time I click on a game with a .webm video associated with it, it says "A video error occurred: Windows Media Player can not find the file." I click OK, and then if I right click on the video window and press Play/Pause, the video starts. I have no idea what's going on here.

In the meantime, can anyone point me to an easy way to convert .webm files into something else? Preferably not something with a file size limit or stupid watermark.

@FistyDollars Maybe it's collection-specific then. Can you try PMing me your data folder? I'll need to know what games are causing the issue as well.

I updated the Vlc.DotNet library to the latest version so it's probably related to that, though the previous version had other issues so I don't really want to downgrade. It hasn't been a very reliable library which is the reason for the VLC-related stability issues in LaunchBox itself, but ripping it out at this point would take some serious time.

    PMed.

  3. I've been pulling the images from Mobygames myself (thankfully they stopped watermarking them), how do you get the original high quality images? The images I get from them typically top out at around 800 by 1100 or so, which isn't bad, but its frustrating when they mention the much higher resolution of the original scan.

While the goal is to eventually get all the exodos art assets uploaded to the gamesdb, that will obviously take some time. So I want to ensure that those who download my sets have art right off the bat, and don't have to go through a lengthy import/d/l process in order to enjoy the work I've done so far. So the importer is key for that. Hopefully I'll have something that works soon.

@eXo for what it's worth, I've been going through every game in the eXoDOS collection and adding them/cleaning up the existing entries in the gamesdb as needed. I'm nearly done with the "E"s, it's a long process and there are a lot of games. Your eXoDOS collection is the reason I got back into emulation and then LaunchBox, so I figured this is the least I could do.

Mmm, ok if kondorito wants to release it here, no problem. But he had a complete set of famicom covers and in my work i see terrible things in launchbox db and i spending hours to rearrange famicom covers maybe like a fool because his set is better.

PD: HELP ME WITH SUPERNES! i can't see any contribution of snes moderating in months, and i'm really tired XDD. the database still lacks around 400 SNES/SFC games xD. a week ago i made the last clear logo and covers for the typical playable games, around 1400. And still is full of creepy 300x300 resolution scans on usa covers because many download the reconstructed ones from other sites and don't give a shit about here XDD. I can't remember the hundreds of hours i expend with this fucking console, and deleting again and again the chavez and final fantasy vi aditions of course.

FUCK CHAVEZ. I'M SO SICK OF THAT GAME >:(

    1. The database has slowed down a fair amount. Not a big deal, but inconvenient.
    2. Accountability for repeated bad submissions. We need a system whereby we can hold people accountable for submitting too many bad entries. I've had to delete the game "Chavez" so, so many times.
    3. On the flip side, accountability for bad moderation. I've seen a fair number of games get approved that should never, ever have been.
    4. Moderators need to be able to leave comments on submissions they've moderated, that the next person in the queue can see. I.e. If someone tries to submit the game "Chavez" yet again, I could leave a note to the next moderator explaining that the game should be rejected, as it's a regional version of Riddick Rowe Boxing.
    5. A dark theme would be nice, the pure white background is murder on my eyes late at night.
    6. I'd appreciate an option in my account settings to be able to turn off the Bible quotes at the bottom. I respect Jason's beliefs, and I know they've helped him out a lot, but I find the quotes distracting and (a bit) unprofessional. I've had to make a custom AdBlock filter to disable them.
    7. For games where there's not a Box - Front, have the thumbnail for the game be something like a Screenshot - Game Title, just so there's artwork instead of a blank space. Makes it all flow nicely.
    8. A platform for Win 3.x would be appreciated (and it wouldn't be difficult to do, MobyGames has one.)
    9. Add Genres like Educational and Board/Party Game.
    10. This one seems odd, but I've been thinking that I wouldn't mind a couple unobtrusive ads on the page if it would help bring in some revenue for the hosting of the database.
    11. Finalize the guidelines, and post them somewhere less hidden than a Google Document owned by a former staff member. We need people to see it, and easily.
    12. There are too many DOS games. Oh God, there are so many. Why did I decide to do all the DOS games. I'm barely at the C's. Oh God what have I done.
    13. Send me a pizza.

    11. Guidelines patially implemented. Created issue # 347 to track progress. Priority for this item is high.

    12. Oh god why, you poor man.

    13. I only have leftovers, but they're still good. Want 'em?

  6. I just had a similar issue with AutoDuel for DOS downloading a bunch of watermarked images that I'd replaced months ago, instead of the images currently available. Hope this can get fixed soon, I'm trying to go through the DOS section and give it a good tidying in anticipation of eXoDOS 3.0's Launchbox integration.

Oh by the way, congratulations you just outed yourself as a pirate.

That license is a known shared license around the internet.

    Wow. Just...wow...

  8. Ha! I appreciate it. Honestly, even the act of me saying I'm stepping back has made me want to contribute more again, so I might have been overreacting a bit. I don't know. I just wish @Jason Carr would really set the record straight.

I'll probably keep contributing stuff here and there, but maybe I won't moderate as much, just because it does tend to drive you mad after a while. The DOS section could use a bit of work, and I never did finish the damn WiiWare games...
