[MAME: how to update it in LaunchBox?]

perfect, I will follow the 1st way. I will delete the Platform (right click on MAME and delete) and in this way LB will delete automatically all the games. But it doesn't delete the playlist. In order to delete them, it is better do delete them manually in this path:LaunchBox\Data\Playlists. Then full import again.  Unfortunately, I see that LB creates all the playlist again but not under MAME platform as Parent: I have every time to open every playlist and modify the parent... do you know if it is possible to avoid this process or if there is a quick way to do that?

I updated the database. In order to update MAME fulset in LB, i could follow 2 different ways:

1) delete MAME platform and of course all its games (The playlist will not be removed automatically, I do't know why, but i can delete manually them from this path: LaunchBox\Data\Playlists). Then full import and then I have to modify all the playlist, adding them under MAME parent. In the end I select all the imported and Tools --> Download Metadata and MEdia (choosing the recommended option). 

or

2) Simply re-import the fullset, without importing metadata and media (I will download the missing files as described above, I mean --> select all games -> Tools --> download metadata and media --> recommended option)-

I think that following the 1st way, I'm sure that I will import the complete romset without the obsolete roms.  The 2nd way is for sure easier and better, but it seems that LB doesn't delete the obsolete roms...

What do you suggest?

yes I'm agree, it could be very useful to know which is the current MAME version supported in LB: in this way we can know when we can update the romset in LB

[Phoenix: Jaguar emulator - how to automatically start games?]

HI

i have configured Phonenix as Atari Jaguar emulator. It works, but if I launch a game with LB, it doesn't start automatically. It appears the emulator screens:

and so I have to double click on the game tiltle and then the POWER button in order to start the game. Is it possible to automatically start every game without these 2 steps?

well, just another question: which is the best emulator for Atari 5200? I read that Altirra can emulate it. If so, which is the right configuration I have to use? My config for Atari 800 is posted above.

I configured in this way: 

HARDWARE: 5200 SuperSystem / Video: NTSC

CPU: 6502

FIRMWARE: Atari 5200 OS (4-port)

BASIC: Atari BASIC Rev C

It seems ok, but loading some games, it always ask me this pop up:

 

How can I avoid this? It seems that this issue appears only loading some games...

I just realised I have a "portable.txt"  in my install folder witch makes Xenia's install, well portable. You may have Xenia's config files in your Documents folder.

I only have these files in my install folder...

So, directly mapped on the keyboard there shoudl be 3 buttons:

START - F2

SELECT - ???

OPTIONS - ???

Which are SELECT and OPTIONS?

done!  Well, i tried all the buttons and the result is relly simple. Every button on my joypad is recognized with the same number in the autohotkey. I mean, for example:

button 1 on joypad --> 1 on the Autohotekey

button 2 on joypa --> 2 on the autohotkey

and so on. Here an example:

so, for example i would like to map F2 (start) on Button 10 so I configured my Autohotkey in this way:

I downloaded the latest Cxbx Reloaded version (26 of september) but unfortunately almost all my favourite games are still unplayable. In any case, in order to add in in LB, I suppose that I have to load rom consiering the .xbe files, am I right?

Another question: is it possible to map a joypad with Xenia emulator? I dind't find any options/menu-...

thank, I changed the mapping but nothing happens, I still have to use the keyboard...

it's strange, probably I have to use a different autokey script. 

And do you know why Star Raiders doesn't work with my configuration? Is there anything wrong?  All the other games work perfectly. I tried .xex, .cas but they don't work.  The .atr file load the title screen, but after puhsing F2, it appears a black screen...quite strange...

i post in this old post my question about key mapping for Altirra. 

Unfortunately my Logitech rumblepad 2 hasn't the START button mapped on Altirra and I can't add it in the Input mapping section on the emulator settings.  So i would like to add START (F2) and SELECT and OPTIONS using the LB hotkey. I tried to map the button in this way:

but it doesn't work, I have to push F button on the keyboard.  Can you suggest how I can modify this script?

well, i tried in this way:

but nothing happens...   So F4 (5) is OPTION, F3 (1) is SELECT and F2 (6) is START?  On my joypad I think I should map them on different button, for example:

5: : F4 (option)

9: :F3 (select)

10: : F2 (Start)

is it correct?

well, currently with the settins I posted above I'm able to play all the games I have tried (about 25). Only Star Raiders doesn't work: i tried both .xex and .atr file, but it doesn't worl.  If I run .xex, there is a black screen; if I run .atr, I push F2 after the title screen, but it appears a black screen...

Speaking about Start, select and Option, please, when you can, can you post me your LB settings in order to set them? I'm not able to do it..

weel, I albel now to run every game in .xex or .atr format.  I'm not able to run the .bin/.rom games converted in .cas, they don't work. This is my current configuration as suggested in some forum:

do you think that I have to change anything? I'm also trying to look for games in .xex format but sometimes they aren't available...

yes, i have already tried, but I can choose only these buttons in the Target field:

The F2 button of the keyboard doesn't work anymore...and the joypad too, so I have to delete the new added mapping row...   It is really strange because it should be possible to map every button

Speaking about the converted games: i checked them with the software you have linked and then I converted them following the suggestions and the information of Atariroms checker, but they don't work. So I'm looking for a supported format like .xex and i found them.

I'm only not able to find a working file of Star Raiders: I found a .xex and .atr files, but it is not possible to load them, there is a black screen....do you have a working game file?

Yes, you can install in LB.

Map to profiles if using for different platforms.  If just using one such as 800 then I believe it starts up with the last profile used. 

I generally turn off start up screens on the computer emulators so can see what is going on. 

If want to map reset, save, load and swap discs then need to put appropriate AHK commands in since LB will not have anything by default.  You don't have to do this just makes the pause screen usable for those options.

I also mapped a running AHK script for the ESC key to exit but depends on what you are doing. Sometimes with Computer emulators you may need to use that key. For most part I am sticking with carts and a few cassettes that I used in the day.

That is because the BIN/ROM files are missing the header needed by Altirra.  You cannot force Altirra via a setting to auto load the one it assumes.   Cartridge files with proper header will typically have the *.CAR extension to differentiate from those that do not (ROM/BIN). So you can either get the prompt each time, use a different emulator that has built in DB to determine header on the fly, or use the following two tools to put the correct headers on BIN/ROM files:

yes I have that folder, thanks!  But now I have discovered how to run games with Altirra so I would prefer to use it with launchbox, if it is possible..
