looking for some setting to try to make the graphics look less grainy. saber was terrible. don't really see a difference with scale3x anyone have settings to share that you think looks good (not with scan lines) on 1080p?

i just did and that is exactly how i set it up. but no controller love. doing this renders it dead.

i tried pressing Mode (my Back button) but neither dpad nor stick did anything. neither did start or any buttons. so i put my original cfg back before i made the 3dpad change

can you set keyboard AND xbox360 controller to work?

what do these do? and does it not use OpenGL by default for saturn?

yes it made me press twice for everything. when it got to dpad i pressed the dpad directions. when it got to analog, i used the left analog stick directions. but not even any buttons, stick or dpad worked after it said done.

i don't see these options on the mednafen saturn settings page. i tried your command but the game screen was tiny and i didn't like scan lines, but thanks for letting me try! so far i like this one suggested on the first page of this thread, but i added your last couple settings too: -ss.stretch 0 -ss.xscalefs 5 -ss.yscalefs 5 -cd.image_memcache 1 -ss.cart auto for them 3dpad, i'm not sure why it rendered my xbox360 dead. i was able to press everything in the player 1 setup for it. so i had to set the controller back to just using dpad. i may try again later because i prefer using the analog joystick

Hmm, after doing that my controller doesn't work at all. I did do the alt-shift-1 steps again.

Thanks, that worked, although I was a bit confused at first. I assumed pressing alt-shift-2 would guide me through two controllers and it made me press each item twice. Then I realized I had to do alt-shift-1 after doing alt-shift-2 to get both of them. it didn't let me use the analog though for up/down/left/right

No I didn't have to do anything to my images once I used the europe bios as mph-17933.bin !! woohoo! now i'm just wondering what the best command line parameters are with original aspect ratio, performance, best looking, etc.

I tried this but it's in 4:3 on my 1080p 16:9 screen. Is there a way to go 16:9 but still look good? edit: never mind want original aspect ration so this is good

aha! i tried the europe bios and it works!!

i ran the region patcher on one of the images that did nothing when dropping on mednafen.exe, but in the tool it already said the image was U:North America. I clicked 'lets patch your image" anyway but got the same result. i must have a wrong usa bios or it has wrong name or something like that. i just don't know which specific bios file from emu paradise to use and what to rename it to in case i used the wrong one. =/

Thanks @Thanos Reigns, I didn't see any sites to download from that I was comfortable with. Glad you posted this. I'll try it out. If it works, I'm not so sure I want to unzip all my games, patch them, re-zip them. Ugh. Hopefully Mednafen will just start supporting pal games. At least this will let me compare a couple games to SSF.

i just tried cue that had japan in the name and it worked.

i have no idea. i just now tried sf alpha 2 (usb) and sonic 3d blast (usb) to no avail. now it says bios hash does not match (i just tried a bios from somewhere else).

aha i found stout.txt and it says "wrong bios for region being emulated". hmm i guess i am not using the correct renamed bios files. not sure which ones to use.

Hi, I've tried mednafen saturn 0.9.39.1 and using cdmage 1.02.1 b5 to drop one of my games cue files onto it for the convert (didn't change its default options). Even after doing this, I end of with the same exact result and all game cue files i have tried dropping on top of mednafen.exe and that is absolutely nothing happens. All of my saturn game files play fine in SSF. I have the Saturn bios files that work for SSF and renamed in the mednafen root directory to sega_101.bin (japanese) and mpr-17933.bin (from emup... site.). Any ideas?

I set Windowed Scaled back to 1.0 since I saw the 3.0 setting make no difference. Anyway, I think I'm using Windowed Full Screen setting. I have no idea if that's best or not, but it seems ok. Ok, I'll take your word for it on gl. I just don't have time to play around with so many settings in RA. My entire effort is to get all these games up and running in LB without crashes and weird things and looking decent as quickly as I can so people can play them (including myself). And hopefully the controllers will work easily also. I'd love to spend more time fiddling more with specific emulators and even favorite games, but there just isn't time with work and family. I'm already getting beat up by my wife with the time I've put in so far . Sure appreciate all the help from you and others on this forum!

There is no 1920x1080 setting. Only odd resolutions that don't look 16:9 to me.

I found WIDE setting in the n64 core from quick menu which made the game full screen 16:9. oh boy that was terrible so i put it back to normal! haha. I already set a global video setting "Windowed Scale" = 3.0x, so maybe that is what you mean by upscaling? There is a Video Driver set to gl currently. Would another be better on Windows with nvidia card?

i did this but when i launch a n64 game it still comes up 4:3?

What setting is that in RA?

I don't care so much about original aspect ratio if it looks good 16:9. But if going 16:9 makes it look bad, then I would leave it with black bars on the left and right side (4:3?). 16:9 is always my preference if it doesn't look weird/bad. So far I think I have most of my RA games in 4:3 size (whatever the default is because I just started with RA) with black borders because I just assumed these old games would look awful stretched to 16:9, but maybe I should try it. And any settings that can make the old games appear smoother and sharper would interest me also.
