  1. I think the problem is only if you use the RL "plugin" for LB front end. This is what is going to be updated. However, I never set my RL with the LB plugin, so I have never had any issue with LB running games through RL, even in LB 6.10. I'm not actually sure what you get by using the LB plugin setting in RL.
  2. Doesn't RL get all it needs from the command line arguments passed into it from the LB emulator settings? What does it need from any xml file? I thought all RL needs is the platform name and rom file, and those come right from the command line settings in the RL emulator. I'm not doubting you, but curious. Also, as I mentioned, I totally removed my launchbox.xml file as a test and RL still launched my games ok.
  3. I'm just curious what doesn't work about RL? I have LB 6.10. Even if i remove launchbox.xml, I can still switch my games to my RL emulator and they work fine. I migrated everything away from RL already, but it still works if I switch a game back to try it.

    Cemu

It actually has to be: -f -g Cemu 1.6
  5. Easy for you to say on the control assignments I remember the first time I started playing around with it I got myself all messed up, especially when you change escape and enter I learned that you can just delete the controller config file to get yourself out of a mess and start over. Hahahaha. When I first started I didn't even know about rom "sets" and was just downloading zip file by zip file and trying to figure out all the other files needed to go with it.
  6. For MAME newbies, I think the controller setup is a real oddity. You can get lots of keystrokes and other assignments in there easily and changing them is quite odd as well. I have mine setup to work with my 2 xbox360 controllers as well as my x-arcade dual joystick. Thank goodness I found a preconfigured controller file for that. There are a zillion control assignments in MAME that are probably not to familiar to an emulation newbie. Besides that, without a complete set, I think the other hard part is getting all the bios files, sound files, etc that certain games require, as well as the parent thing mentioned. I put all my bios related files in one folder and all my game files in another folder.
  7. never mind i found the setting in options->views . sooooo cool!
  8. I'm sure this is an easy one. In my BigBox when I view the games inside a platform, it is plain text type. How do I get it to use those cool game name graphics?
  9. I think one upcoming performance improvement that would be nice in LB (not BB) is how long it take for the text and images to come up in the sidebar when clicking on a game. Anyway, I'm quite happy with things overall. I'll upgrade to the official 6.10 release. This is a release that I think will make a very positive impact.
  10. @jason, although my permanent ram cache setting will not be higher than 512MB, i tried setting it to 2GB just to see how it would work. so, changing that setting didn't help really. it still shows empty images while scrolling (i waited a while after changing the ram cache setting for LB cpu to settle first). what i am seeing is that while i scroll, only then it seems to increase the LB process ram usage. so changing the ram cache seems to require you to manually and slowly scroll through all images in a platform (my test was MAME with 3212 games) before it will truly cache it to ram. i don't know if that's by design or not, but doesn't seem right.
  11. With Beta 9 I can't remove images from games. I was in the process of finding MAME games with screenshots of things like Mechanical and I was right clicking those games and choosing Edit, and then right click the "Mechanical" screenshot and choose 'remove image'. But since upgrading to Berta 9, it does not remove the image and remains there as my game screenshot. If I go back to Edit the game it is as though I never removed it before. Edit: i think this only happens if that is the only screenshot. So I decided to remove them using windows explorer thumbnail view. However there a tons of them and this will take forever.
  12. sorry to say that i'm very against giving away my memory . i don't really know how the memory setting works anyway. if i have 7GB image cache but set 1GB ram, I don't know what images get to swap in and out of ram as i navigate the interface, and if it will help at all. however, i'm still ecstatic with the overall performance improvement of the 6.10 betas using just 512MB ram cache. the scrolling is fine and doesn't really bother me. one more second shaved off of platform switching and it will be LB nirvana!
  13. Since late yesterday's beta update, my scrolling (regular LB) isn't quite as nice. if i scroll on the faster side, it's kind of always empty making it hard to find something when scrolling. I think it was smoother before when scrolling fast with game images there as i scrolled. Not a huge deal, but thought I'd add a comment.
  14. I'm really curious how the cache to memory works. Lets say i have 7GB cache folder size and 512MB cache to ram setting. What gets cached to ram? Is it just whatever fits for the platform you are currently in or what? And when switching?
  15. question: if you do check the box to clear the cache when launching games, does it mean the cache will load back into memory, right after closing the game/emulator, in the background until it's done or until the next game is launched?
  16. hahaha
  17. inside Mess\ini I have tons of ini files based on platform. i see one for neocdz.ini and it is indeed set to window=1 i tried changing that to 0 like you said and whammo, i am back in business!!! thank you @lordmonkus !! one more Rocketlauncher platform bites the dust! I have almost everything moved to LB and RA now.
  18. Hi, I have neo geo cd and mess working fine when LB goes through Rocketlauncher, but I'm trying to set it up without RL. The games launch fine for the same mess emulator but it comes up in a window. I haven't found how to get it fullscreen, 4:3 is ok, but not in a window.
  19. Good news! If you ever want to go back to the way it was with no symlink, you just delete the shortcut looking thing in Launchbox\Images folder that is pointing to your other location (it's just a sym link, like a shortcut). Then you would just create a new normal "Cache" folder inside Launchbox\Images. Or you can rename your old original cache folder back that still has the cached files from that point in time assuming you kept it. Then you could also delete the Cache folder that is on your ssd or ramdisk to free up that space again.
  20. Sure. I opened a cmd.exe command prompt and ran this: mklink /J R:\LaunchBox\Images\Cache C:\LaunchBox\LaunchBoxLinks\Images\Cache (C:\LaunchBox\LaunchBoxLinks\Images\Cache folder needs to exist before you run the command, so create that Cache folder wherever you want it to be first). The C drive is my SSD. change the paths and drives to match yours. It just creates what looks like a shortcut in the original LB location which gets redirected to the path you specify on the SSD drive. To LB, nothing changed. Before running the command, I would suggest you rename the original Cache folder to something like Cache_original. Then run the command.
  21. @Imgema, I moved my image cache folder (via sam link) to SSD after I first started using LB in 6.8. At that time it didn't really seem to make a difference but I just left it that way. Maybe if I moved it back to my usb 3 drive where LB and everything else is, I might see this issue. So, I suppose I won't move it back, haha! My image cache folder is 7.1GB with 65,393 files.
  22. @Imgema, you can easily check your Windows Event Viewer to see if the disk is having any issues with bad sectors or otherwise as those things are always logged. Another random thought, maybe make sure there is no other software interfering like anti virus, search indexing, etc. You can exclude the LB directories. One very common cause of applications exhibiting lags/freezes is when the data is on a network drive. Do you have anything LB related that needs to be accessed over the network? Because often times this type of access can take a little longer after a reboot.
  23. Thats interesting. I dont hace that issue at all.
  24. Well, I just checked this. Every time I switch platforms, I see a brief spike to 25% exactly. I have no hyper threading. It's an i5.
