Only setting I found was to change resolution and none matched my 1080p screen. Didn't seem to help changing it. I wonder if any other settings can make it look better.

Thanks. I'm not that picky about N64. For convenience, I'll try looking for the resolution scaling and see how it looks after that.

As far as I don't have any issues exiting MAME. I have it set so I can press keyboard Escape or a single right stick press on my xbox360 controller.

Hi, I've been talked into using a lot of my older platforms with RA. It's going ok so far, except that I am clueless with RA how to improve resolution, graphics appearance, upscaling, and stuff like that. I added my N64 to RA and looked at a few games. When I run N64 games from my Project64 emulator, the resolution and game looks really good on my 1080p 32" TV with custom graphic plugin settings. But with out-of-box RA settings for N64, it doesn't look very good and the game window uses an extra small resolution. I'm hoping someone can let me know which video settings I should change in RA (just for N64) to make it look better on 1080p. I'm not talking about shaders here. Thank you!

Well, it's ok by me because it works! I just didn't expect it to and it was a major relief. Haha

Ok, I see. I thought the setting was supposed to hide the emulator window from popping up briefly as the game starts up.

i tried this emulator setting on some emulators, but it doesn't seem to hide anything? i still see the emulator application window come up over Launchbox window on game startup. Is this setting just for BigBox or maybe I am misunderstanding its meaning? Thanks.

i setup controller automation on xbox360 usb controller. it closes most games/emulators fine. but for some reason the xbox360 'close active window' combo wouldn't do anything when in Demul Naomi games until I also added an escape key autohotkey for closing Demul. That seems strange? Is AHK stronger than Controller automation? And how does my xbox360 with controller automation close it since it's not using an escape key(or is it?)? Puzzled.

I guess I'll just leave this as a single game inside my Windows games platform. No big deal.

This got all the tables, but when launching, it doesn't just run the table. It puts you in the table selection screen. Does anyone know if there is some command line parameter or way to just go to playing with the table you launch from LB? I scraped as Windows but that didn't work out to well. Is there a good scrape to get some art for these?

so i just noticed while running a game from retroarch, that it was picking up my Xpadder xbox 360 button presses because it was exiting the game with one of the button. i was running Xpadder by accident. so that tells me keyboard presses also work in RA even if using an xinput xbox controller. so, it should just be a matter of remapping the key presses in RA to my x-arcade buttons, but the RA interface confuses me around this area. like my x-arcade buttons use B Z X, H Y N, 1 U 5 for one side of joystick and other keys for 2nd joystick. seems like if i can set these letters i'll be ok with x-arcade.

i think @SentaiBrad's list had bsnes balanced so i typed that one in already.

yeah i thought about using that x-arcade xinput option, but i was afraid it wouldn't work well and/or worried about if any emulators would need the old keyboard x-arcade style setup because then i would have ONLY xinput controllers...

now i'm back to my original problem when i tried using RA before. it works great with my xbox360, but now i can['t also use my keyboard based x-arcade dual joystick. i never figured out how the setup should be if i want to use either or depending on my mood

hmm, i used @SentaiBrad's list that he has screenshot posted for. yours doesn't match his for a few of the ones i listed that i am adding to RA.

i just added new emulator "RetroArch136", but it didn't auto populate all the associated platforms default command line parameters for me?

@Zombeaver, so are you saying ps1 is better off in RA? if so, i'll try adding that one also to RA. Problem is i have no idea where to start in there on shaders and video settings. Do you use Mednafen for Saturn in RA or stand alone? I would really like to use Mednafen but like i said i have a bad feeling my game files don't work with it and i don't know what to do about that.

best i can tell for my list, i will put these guys in RA: atari 2600, atari 7800, nes, snes, gba, genesis, sega 32x, sega cd, master system these are not my favorite games and platforms anyway and I doubt I will play much from these ones. i'll leave saturn with ssa in rocketlauncher for now because it works on my Win10 box as-is and i don't want to mess with it since i hear so many people on the RL site say saturn doesn't work on win10 because of daemon tools lite scsi cd driver install issue. and the couple games i tried with new mednafen didn't work at all for me. the rest i'll leave with stand alone emulators. i think that's my plan. so basically i just need to add RA back to my LB and add those platforms and cores to it. once i do that, @SentaiBrad, which video related setting changes and shader do you think i should make in RA to make me RA list of games look better (i don't care for scan liens either)? i'd like to start off with your suggestion since i just have no idea what to change in RA.

yeah i think that's why stand alone is better for me. i seem to like mostly 3D games plus MAME stuff which is better stand alone anyway as you suggest. so it doesn't seem like much benefit for me to work with RA. maybe if i find that i'm playing some 2D games and feel they don't look very good, i'll try RA for it. I'm not super picky with the very old games and consoles, For example, out of box MAME settings seem fine to me for MAME games. But for MAME I want to try out @lordmonkus Mame HLSL Settings file posted in another thread that i saved just to see the difference.

I originally looked at RA, but I think it was one of the posters on this thread that told me in his reply: but for emulator x it's probably better to use stand alone x, and for emulator y, it's probably better to use stand alone y, etc. So I just couldn't see the point in RA if I still need to use some stand alone's that the posters were saying would be better than RA. Whenever I try a stand alone emulator, I check the video settings because I want the games to look as good as possible (i have a high end gaming pc). It was usually fairly easy for me to know which video settings would give me better looking games at least for some of the settings. In RA, I really have no idea, and if those same shared settings would be equally as good across every single emulator in RA. My full list of platforms is attached below. These are the ones I want to look the best and have at least some of them work with both x-arcade(keyboard) and xbox 360, but all with xbox360 at a minimum. My most used platforms out of these are: MAME, Gamecube, Wii, Dreamcast, Saturn, ps1, ps2, psp.

I didn't want to deal with RA because: - I may not want to use the specific emulators and settings it offers for some platforms. - I feel that there will always be better stand alone emulators and stand alone video/other configurations than what is included in RA - I feel like I have a handle on stand alone emulator video/other configs and what they mean, but i'm clueless with RA and don't really want to learn everything in there. - I don't want yet another layer of abstraction in my setup.

i opened up epsxe emulator and went to config gamepad. i can set 1.directinput (as it currently is) or 2.xinput. And this way my xbox360 does not work unless I run Xpadder. So, if I choose 2.xinput and configure that one, will that make the 1.directinput setup got away and lose bering able to use my x-arcade?
