  1. BTW no anti-virus or auto backup stuff, I just use the built-in defender with 8.1 - I'm very good at avoiding anything nefarious online and cleaning stuff if I do get anything..nothing like that has happened with this PC....I'm very tech savvy (I repair computers for a living), at least savvy for everything except this apparently, LOL
  2. Thanks CKP, I may end up sending you may main LB folder, minus the license, games, images, media, etc...maybe you can figure something out, LOL...no pressure though...I'm at a loss.,,but actually the stripped down flash drive version I've been using and posting images on tonight, does NOT crash on my laptop...at least not yet...if it does I'll post an update.... ....so it may not be anything in the LB collection...tomorrow I'm gonna try to connect my main 8TB collection to my laptop...just a pain in the arse cause I gotta move stuff around (being a desktop drive), and that will tell us for sure if my main issue is somewhere on the drive or god knows...
  3. AAARGH! No same crash just happened on this new flash install with only NES games imported, just as with my main collection it happened as I was typing the previous comment...it must be hardware or something low level OS going on...
  4. I'm using the default theme on this flash drive install with the latest errors I'm posting...and I just got this one while doing a dupe cleanup process after fixing my NES covers, again it remained open after..
  5. So I fresh installed LB on my flash drive to test this, seems to be working, had one issue though besides the glitch above however, as pictured...this is all I did: 1. I only moved my nestopia folder over from my other launchbox (emulators folder), and 2. the NES images, videos and manuals.... 3. Set up emumovies login in options. 3. then I imported the games from the other collection I have (copied them through the import wizard, unchecking images/assets to download).... I set my theme to TOMATO, enabled VLC as default player in options, and that's it... All good and fast....but as I was going through and editing the games to rename some that wasn't showing front covers/info for them to fix them, (I probably did about 10), I get to start tropics II and this error pops up....I submitted a ticket as it requested and CLOSED IT...LB didn't crash though, which was a relief...not the same error, LB stayed open and seems to be fine...still using it....not sure if that helps figure this out...
  6. I've tried this already, it didn't help, sadly...tried it manually one by one too, didn't work :-(
  7. I started the install on my 128GB flash (yay I found a bigger flash drive, lol)...I walked away for awhile, came back and saw this error, I clicked okay on it, and it seemed to open fine.... Not going to do anything for awhile, not add any game...just leave it open for awhile and see if the raw app by itself crashes...
  8. Great tip, I have a 64GB blank and handy...I'll try that....if it doesn't crash then it's my config...great tip guys, should have thought of this before, I'll let you know how that goes...probably test it for a couple days if it doesn't crash fast and get back to you. :-)
  9. LOL I edited my POST, I meant 8 TB, not GB! hahaha (external usb 3 hard drive)
  10. I'll do this on reboot...since it only happens in LB randomly and nowhere else I'm suspecting the memory is fine, but at this point, I'll try anything.
  11. I'm using 7.4TB of my 8TB drive right now and I'm wondering how I can do this...I don't have the space...I guess into another folder on the same drive, and then import my games over from the old path into the new games...that's a lot of work, but you're right that would be a decent test to see more so WHEN it starts crashing...
  12. Possibly, although it never causes any other issues outside of LB, and I use lots of other software, play games, etc....it's odd... Here is another possible and more brief explanation of what I could find on this error: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2679415/executionengineexception-occurs-during-garbage-collection
  13. Thanks, I really appreciate it. I don't have the money to change my computer...not anytime soon...
  14. Would Jason be willing to take a look at a details crash dump analysis I did on the error? How can I submit this to him? I'm so beyond frustrated with this, and love Launchbox so much...it really bums me out....new OS, new 8 TB hard drive, doesn't matter...still crashes....from what I can tell based on it, seems to be an issue with "ExecutionEngineException occurs during Garbage Collection" Ref: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/4367664/application-crashes-with-internal-error-in-the-net-runtime I had a deeper analysis done through OSRONLINE, and I got this... ******************************************************************************* * * * Exception Analysis * * * ******************************************************************************* Unable to load image C:\Windows\assembly\NativeImages_v4.0.30319_64\mscorlib\01f72c20ca7ef7505aa3e474eb475713\mscorlib.ni.dll, Win32 error 0n2 TRIAGER: Could not open triage file : e:\dump_analysis\program\triage\guids.ini, error 2 Unable to load image C:\Windows\assembly\NativeImages_v4.0.30319_64\System.Windows.Forms\e6dedc2de7c2e5023675009390320ec6\System.Windows.Forms.ni.dll, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify checksum for System.Windows.Forms.ni.dll Unable to load image C:\Windows\assembly\NativeImages_v4.0.30319_64\System\77f2b01bba095688313172d73e7406bf\System.ni.dll, Win32 error 0n2 *** WARNING: Unable to verify checksum for System.ni.dll TRIAGER: Could not open triage file : e:\dump_analysis\program\triage\modclass.ini, error 2 GetUrlPageData2 (WinHttp) failed: 12029. *** The OS name list needs to be updated! 15. Given my error logs above from eventvwr.msc, does anyone have a suggestion I can try? The only thing I can find online is people having the same crash having to contact Microsoft...I guess I may have to do that.
  16. As per the above...it crashed 25min before that when I was using it and this is what it gave me in eventvwr that time, it's slightly different for the top entry "runtime at IP" number given: WARNING: Application: LaunchBox.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an internal error in the .NET Runtime at IP 00007FF9E655A5C1 (00007FF9E63C0000) with exit code 80131506. 18. So not that anyone can truly help me with this, but I've moved my Launchbox collection to a new 8 TB hard drive, and am now using Windows 8.1 pro (instead of 10) Although it is more stable then it was previously, the crash still occurs all the time if I have launchbox open for long enough....not responding, just the option to CLOSE it... I don't know what else I can do short of a different computer....
  19. Never-mind, I was able to find this.
  20. Hey everyone had a hard drive fail with these collections on them, SUCKS.....I wanted to start doodling and trying to get some to work in LB since it seems that will be delayed now....I got most of the data rescued off the drive, thankfully, but there appears to be some casualties...namely with the EXODOS folder, I only have the EXODOS collection in a massive zip file, but no longer have the 300+FB Win3XO file....I need that one to uncompress over my existing collection and re-run the setup....I believe I have all the games that were in the games folder, but need everything else. Is anyone will to share or provide where I can download the Win3XO collection WITHOUT the game? I mean every other file/folder would be awesome...I dread having to DL that file again....Thanks! - Brett
  21. for 1, to get around it for now...you can right-click the platforms list on the left (I use platform categories view), the create a new Platform, I named it MIXED COLLECTIONS... Right-click a game and choose to ADD IT to a PLAYLIST, name the playlist whatever you want, ..(if you don't see the playlist on your left view after this, just change the VIEW from platforms/platform categories TO PLAYLISTS (on the bottom), then right-click each playlist you want to have appearing in the platform's view and EDIT...then choose the checkbox that says "Include this playlist in Platforms list", and choose the PLATFORM you created (in my case, mixed collections) in the drop-down box and click okay (before you click okay, you can also choose how you want to sort the games added, I do it by TITLE). ...not the same, but at least you will see it, and can name these collections and add games to them manually as you desire and they appear on the same platforms...I have a 2D FIGHTING GAMES and 3D FIGHTING GAMES list I maintain, as well as MEGAMAN, METROID, MARIO playlists, etc...Also if you don't want to always manually have to add games by right-clicking and adding to playlist...you can set up in the previous options the checkmark to 'AUTO-POPULATE this playlist 'and after importing a game, add a tag VIA EDITING the game to have it detect it and add it automatically, I use the field GENRE, and just add values like: 2d-fighting in some, 3d-fighting in others, etc... Hope that makes sense and helps.
  22. 2. Is there a way to import roms and them use their file names as the game name, this is really useful for hacks and translations so i can see who created the translation or any button activations which I tend to keep in brackets in the file names For this, if you put what you want to "in brackets" into the VERSION field (right-click / EDIT)...you will usually see it displayed after the games name in parenthesis as you scroll through your collection...
  23. ImGema, it does get very taxing and time-consuming!
  24. Any updates on importing eXoDOS/Win3Xo collections into Launchbox yet? Is this still being worked on? I hope so...can't wait....
