  1. I'm not sure what else to provide. There is nothing besides those two entries I posted. There are other events before and after the crash but it is just general informational noise unrelated to BigBox and most contain 1 line indicating some task being executed. There are logs every time it crashes and all looks somewhat similar to what I provided. If you have some examples of what I should be looking for I would be more than happy to get it, but I'm just not seeing anything else useful. There is a large text file in the debug folder, but even that looks unremarkable from start to end.
  2. @C-Beats got some error logs for you. This is the one labeled "information". 3. @C-Beats I have it running now and will update when it crashes again. I posted some logs in this thread back in February but I don’t think those proved to be too helpful. Hopefully something better comes out of it this time. Thanks again for the continued help.
  4. Go to Tools > Manage > Platforms and make sure the directory for the C64 platform matches the directory you copied the files to.
  5. @Jason Carr at this point I'm going to say this didn't help and stop testing. I have continued to check each day and each day it has crashed. Let me know if there is anything else you want me to try.
  6. @Jason Carr Software was crashed this morning. Upon restart I see beta 6 is out. Installing, but doesn't look like anything related to this issue. By crashed I should say the cabinet was sitting at the Windows 11 desktop. No errors. It is as if the software was never running.
  7. @Jason Carr I just went and looked at my arcade cabinet and noticed the pixelcade marquee had no image and the screen appeared frozen. The video for the selected game wasn't running and controls weren't working. It appeared frozen but I could see the small animation appearing on top of the selected game name still running. I grabbed the keyboard and did an alt-tab to look at the pixelcade listener running in the background and then did an alt-tab back to Big Box and then everything starting running again. The video for the game still on the screen started up and the controls allowed me to navigate and the pixelcade display turned back on. I just left it as is and will check on it later. So far the crash to desktop hasn't happened, but this doesn't seem right. I'll keep you posted.
  8. @Jason Carr You bet. I'll get it installed after work today and will let it run over the weekend.
  9. I did finally have a moment to review things over the weekend and I can at least confirm there are no FLV formatted files. The only format in any of the folders is MP4. Again, I'll just not use attract mode, but wanted to put that out there just in case any bit of info will help.
  10. I have always used VLC. I have done a clean install of Windows and LaunchBox including downloading all images and videos from scratch both times. There are 0 other applications installed in the arcade cabinet other than what is absolutely necessary to run the games. I have a EmuMovies premium account so I get whatever the game database has and what they have. I even tried removing all platforms but MAME to limit the possible things causing a problem. Sounds like I will just stick running the game when I'm done instead of using attract mode for now. Thanks for the input.
  11. 12.14. I had high hopes after reading the release notes but it didn’t seem to help with this issue.
  12. @Jason Carr has any progress been made at identifying this issue? I turned attract mode back on for the the first time since back in March and it still is crashing back to the desktop between 24 and 36 hours of inactivity. I see a few tickets marked resolved on Bitbucket but were back in 2021. Should I open a new ticket over there? I would love to help get this resolved if at all possible.
  13. Confirmed that worked. F2. Change settings. Set demo sounds to yes. Save. F3 to reset.
  14. It seems only the hardcore score is being displayed in the header and the retro achievements modal is only returning the same value. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I much prefer tracking my progress with the "softcore" score. Was this change intentional or a byproduct of an API change?
  15. I have tested all 5 versions of this game and all 5 are missing sound during the attract mode. It is difficult to find information if this is a known issue or not, but I don't think there is anything you can do. There are no DIP switch settings to toggle which some of these games have to control that. You can confirm you have sound in other games that are known to have sound during attract mode to rule out a system wide issue. For example, I know Metal Slug 2 has annoying sounds during the entire attract mode. If you have that game in your collection give that one a try.
  16. Thanks for replying to my very old post. I'm not familiar with EventGhost, but it looks interesting and I'll take a look. Not long after I made my post, Big Box developed an issue on my cabinet where it would crash after around 24 hours running attract mode, so I had to disable attract mode completely and have ignored the other problem your solution seems to solve. It has been some months and a few version of Big Box since then. I should try enabling it again to see if the problem has gone away and I'll try what you outlined. A clean install of Windows and only Big Box / MAME later and it still did the same thing. Appreciate the possible solution.
  17. I recall running across an explanation on a reddit post sometime back that I was able to find again so I take no credit in the explanation. Original Question Original Reply
  18. Changing the extension to something else isn't going to work. By default, the checksum is going to be different than what Redump or No-Intro is providing in their DATs. There have been no official release of those in CHD format. I would love for this to happen at some point, but there doesn't seem to be any priority of making it happen so until then, if you want to maintain your sets from those release groups than you are out of luck using CHD.
  19. I believe you are also out of luck if all your files are CHDs. I’m not aware of any DATs that support that format. I keep all of my set in a compatible format and keep a copy in CHD for games I’m actively playing for this reason.
  20. I have had it for about a month. I have been playing a mixture of 16 bit games mostly (Retroarch) and those have been rock solid. I have up to Dreamcast and PS2 (using standalone PCSX2 and Redream for those) era games on that machine and those seem to run at a steady framerate as well. Big Box however is a bit laggy moving between games and platforms. I have tried a few different themes and haven't had much luck yet. Its usable, but not silky smooth as my desktop and arcade cabinet. This weekend I'm going to try and change the resolution to 1920x1080 to see if that improves things. To be honest, Big Box was the last thing I was worried about running poorly.
  21. I'm curious what you find that isn't working with Windows 11? I recently purchased the Beelink SER4 to use on one of my TVs and love it. I have Big Box configured as a startup application so it comes up automatically. It seems to come out of hibernation to Big Box just fine and haven't had to reboot it since I got it. I haven't seen Windows really get in the way of my experience yet.
  22. Be aware that in rare cases, some games may no longer work due to various emulation / driver issues or new bugs introduced. This isn't the norm, but wanted you to know that it isn't always a positive moving to newer versions especially making large leaps in versions. Sometimes hacks were used to make games work that were removed in later releases making games unplayable. Again, this is probably rare for most cases but it is helpful to read the "whatsnew.txt" file between versions to see what you might be getting into posted on the MAME website for each version.
  23. I do the same thing. I have 5 separate Retroarch installations because of all the controllers I have. M30, SN30, N30, DualShock 4, XBox One, RetroArch N64, Tank Stick, and arcade cabinet. It is a pain to try and get Retroarch to behave with different configurations and hotkeys per controller and its just easier to maintain one installation per controller. It would be nice to have the option to update next to each emulator configuration instead of having a global one that only does one.
  24. @Jason Carr Here are the two logs that were created after it crashed 24 hours in. Let me know if you require anything else. Debug 2022.zip
  25. I will take care of that this week. I had just been leaving a game up and running since the frequency of the crashes was getting annoying. I will enable the option and put it back into attract mode and post the results.
