Thanks @faeran and @y2guru for your help!
Another question!
I have been searching for the best method to add background music to an specific view, I'm sure I'm missing something since the only way I have been able to do it is to use a video that runs in the background.any indication is appreciated!
-
Thanks, any comment from @faeran is appreciated, also nice to know that your support will be there eventually!
My idea is to make something like this:
But I can only get this as of now (using COMMUNITY )

Hey @y2guru, great work as usual, thanks!!
One question: is there any way to do something like this in wall view?
Specific issues:
1.- I can't reduce the margin between rows (column margin can be kept to a minimum so is fine).
2.- I cant add more than 5 columns.
Thanks for any help!

Great, this seems like a good option, thank you @JoeViking245
I hope @Jason Carr can take a look at this need, maybe it can be done natively in launchbox in the future!

Hey! I was wondering if it's possible to run a script or app when loading (and when exiting) all games from a specific playlist, here's what I want to do :
Using a USB relay, I want to automatically turn on the infrared leds that my lightgun needs to work. This might be useful to automatically turn on a wii bar when loading wii games too.
I know it might be done running an ahk script per game, but it would be way easier to run it when loading a game from an specific playlist (maybe run it when entering said Playlist).
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I never cared too much about andoird version, but this is good news thinking ahead since I'm planning on getting a Shield in a couple of months, going the sideload way is a great idea.

Flat and Classic Mini Consoles
View File
This was supposed to be a simple flat theme, but evolved into a 2 in 1, so you have the regular view which is flat and sleek and also you have available an optional view (per device) that resemble some classic mini consoles (including consoles that do not have mini versions as of yet).
Features of this theme:
- Simple flat version that runs fast and looks great.
- No flashy animations that may affect perfomance.
- Optional "Classic Mini" view for many systems (WIP).
- Every Classic Mini view has it's own background music.
- Improved original design of some "Classic Mini" (Such as PSX and Genesis).
- Improved UI for some consoles like PS3, 3DS, etc.
- "Classic Mini" style views for consoles that do not have an oficial Mini version (such as PS2, WII, etc.).
- Platform/console selection with video (you need to download the video first from regular launchbox menu).
You can check some Videos of the theme in action on my Youtube Channel
Most updates are being posted on my Patreon (nothing is hidden behind a paywall)

got late to the pool, great for you to care about asking, the upload of the video is always better since we can watch it whenever we can
Thanks!

Hi! The video is not available
I don't know where to ask this so I post it in the 2 topics just in case
Isaw the the latest release includes system options, but I cant see how to create it, I edited the theme I was creating with an older version and when I went to bigbox, the options screen still appears with the default BB theme.
Does this update includes that screen or I'm assuming wrong?

I see. What theme are you using to get around that problem? Is it a custom one you've built yourself?
Yes, I did a custom theme, you can see the yellow outline that shows the actual screen space that's vailable for viewing, in mame I use .lay files to adjust the horizontal and vertical games to fit nicely with some artwork to fill the empty spaces.
The idea was to have more space available for vertical games and it works wonders.

Hmm, I'm confused why the top and bottom would be cut off. Is part of the screen buried in the cabinet?
Unfortunately no. For beta releases, it's important to note that they're betas, so that's one thing that I unfortunately can't change.
Yes, the screen is vertical 16:9, but to give it a more 4:3 feel, the sides are hidden inside the cab (that's why it looks kind of a square) so the real resolution is 768x1024, but the visible part is 768px wide x 800px height.
More pictures to show you the custom theme and usable size of the screen (i'm dumb I know, I should have done this the first time): -

Yeah, this is on my list. I don't really have a good solution for it though currently, because it's a lot of info to put on the screen, especially for that vertical aspect ratio. Not exactly sure how we're gonna solve it. My best idea is to provide an option to change font size globally in Big Box, but I'm not sure how feasible that is considering all the custom themes.
Thanks for your time Jason, I understand that the option to reduce text size may be too complicated, so maybe just reduce the text size a bit in order to show the scores over a million and the 4 main tabs (weekly to all-time) that really would be more than enough ? (or maybe just make the window wider), I attach a picture for you to see:
The 720p screen on vertical has 768px wide, let me know if you need more info, thanks in advance.

Most likely you're not using an official version of MAME. Unfortunately it now requires either an official or a no-nag version of MAME. MAMEUI64 is no longer supported. We added some necessary anti-cheat mechanisms which unfortunately are not compatible with other versions.
That was the issue, I was using gui version of no nag, now i'm on the "normal" version and it's ok.
One last thing! I wanted to remind you the problem of the hiscores window in lower resolutions (or vertical placed monitors) where the texts are too big, I attach the link of the post where I explained it better, thanks in advance!:

Alright version 10.14 is out now. 10.12 and 10.13 can no longer upload high scores, and all scores have been reset. We should be good to go; time to grab some new scores guys.
Oh, btw, for anyone who hasn't seen this thread, nearly everyone voted to reset the high scores, so sorry if anyone is upset, but don't blame me.
I updated and now the hiscore feature is not present... I have it activated in options (both options are checked) and my app is connected to the DB... no tables with high scores are shown in regular LB and no option to see high scores is available in BigBox either...
I reinstalled everything from scratch and nothing happens.
Thanks in advance

Yep... language/regional numeric settings currently screws up the output , fingers crossed this will be all fixed tonight and ready for a new build tomorrow
Perfect, thanks again!
Being nitpicky here now... is there anything you (or us) can do to adjust the selection bar for it to be more centered? now it's longer to the left and on the right there's no white outline so it looks unbalanced.
this is on TextGamesView -

Now that I am how and can see the images on a larger screen, you are not running in English, I see the number format has a comma and not a decimal point. Yes this is a known issue and I will be working on language/region issues tonight
I'll be damn, that was the issue, so the comma was the key for you to figure it out LOL
I changed the language to English and BAM, the starts rating appears now inside BB ?
Time to continue with the design then, thanks for this amazing work man!!! you made BigBox 10 times better!

Plus you may want to supply the fallback values for the stars just so that the stars will show whether a game has a rating or not. So change the fallback folder to Star rating and fallback file name to 0.png
As you can see, the rating is in the upper right part in numeric form, I forgot to mention that the screenshots had the purpose to show the numeric rating in the upper right.
No matter the fallback, the rating does not appear for games that have a rating inside BB, it only works for games that are 0,0 (check the turbografx SS in the last message)
So, I have ratings, but only in numbers (the stars work only in the editor), I must add that I have tested this on 2 different computers, the stars rating do not work on the default theme you provided with the editor either.
capture inside BB with fallback, notice the rating is 3.2, but the stars shown are the fallback:
One last detail I noticed, the raiting in the editor has a "." while in BB it shows a ",", this is nothing important, but weird nontheless.
Thanks again!

I need screenshots of all 3 ui element properties,
click on the star rating ui element and screenshot the meta data field, image folder properties
the date fields, click on them then take a screenshot of the date format property, which I am assuming you didn’t select
Thank for your help!, 2 and 3 are working now, they needed the format to be selected (maybe consider a default format to avoid confusion?).About the stars ratings:
I attach the SS, as you can see, it works in the editor (1st SS), but when I publish, it does not work inside BB (2nd SS), it only shows the starts when a game has no rating (3rd SS)

I see. I didn't expect/think about there being such a low horizontal resolution when I built that popup, unfortunately. Sadly there's not a way to change it currently with a theme, either. I'll see what I can do for the next release though.
That would be such a huge help! let me explain the situation for you to get the idea (and know that it's worth it):
As LCD in the 4:3 format do not go bigger than 19" nowadays, it's possible to add a vertical bigger LCD to be used as a "fake 4:3" more squared display to be able to play horizontal and vertical games in a good way (playing vertical shooters on a 19" 4:3 screen is pretty bad, so this a good solution to that... obviously the side parts of the screen are unused and hidden inside the cab, so I'm using a 40" 1366x768 lcd that gives me a 24,5 inch 4:3 screen when playing horizontal games and a nice 24 inch vertical screen for shooters!
The community theme builder came as a gift from heaven since now we can do themes for every screen size and resolution, but this little popup windows are still out of reach.
Again, I would be very thankful if you could do an adjustment to this!- 1

What is your resolution and what are your DPI settings?
40" Vertical monitor on the cab, 768px wide 1024px height, dpi/scaling config in w10 is at 100% (the minimum that it allows).
If there is a xaml/xml file where I could edit the font size, it would be great (community theme editor won't allow to edit those popup windows)

Can anyone tell me what file should I edit in order to reduce the text size of the hi score tables? in lower resolutions it looks bad.
