alobar
I searched the forum but I couldn't find anyplace that describes how to set Big Box settings. I hover over any setting (all are unchecked by default, regardless of behavior). I try enter, double press enter, space, mouse clicks. I can't get any settings to budge. What am I missing? spycat
Hi alobar Are you talking about settings screens like the one in the image below? The tick boxes should toggle with mouse clicking. You should be able to cycle through a selected Transition's effects with the Enter key. If nothing at all is working in here for you, but you can still use BigBox to move through your Platforms and Games, then something funny is going on for sure. Best wait for Jason to clear it up. alobar
Yes those settings. I tried clicking the mouse but it isn't visible to see what I'm doing. I was going to first check enable mouse but everything is cleared, regardless of the actual state of the options. I wonder why I'm having this issue. I currently am on a multiple monitor setup, is that possibly causing the issue?
DOS76
Works fine on my multi-monitor setup running Windows
Jason Carr
That's strange. Can you screenshot me what the settings pages look like? Are you able to focus on the settings at all? I don't think any of us have run into that before.
alobar
I can highlight settings but they are all cleared and I can't do anything about it.
Jason Carr
Hi @alobar, so weird. Can you email me your LaunchBox.xml file? Email it to jasondavidcarr at gmail dot com.
Jason Carr
Thanks @alobar. I got your file, but still can't replicate it. What version of Windows are you running? The only thing I can immediately suggest would be to try re-installing the .NET framework 4.5.2. Other than that, I don't understand what could be wrong. If there's anything unique or special about your system that isn't typical, let me know, as that might be a clue to solving the issue. alobar
I'm running windows 7 Ultimate and .NET 4.5.1. That might be it. Nope. Just upgraded to 4.5.2 and restarted, is the same. Nothing unique about my setup other than the video card which isn't that common (I think) nVidia Quadro NVS 420. Some programs don't like four monitors because it throws their positioning off and full screen can act funny but that shouldn't effect this right? Jason Carr
If everything else is working properly (I assume it is), then no, it doesn't really make sense for any of that to cause that particular problem. Can you try disabling both the mouse and game controller? You can do that by opening up LaunchBox.xml in Notepad and looking for the following lines: <EnableGamepad>false</EnableGamepad> <EnableMouse>false</EnableMouse> There are two EnableGamepad lines. For now, set them both to false, and make sure EnableMouse is false as well. See if that helps; you should be able to use the Enter key to change values in the options. If that doesn't help, try enabling the mouse to see if that works. By chance, is your keyboard configured for a different language than English? alobar
No. English keyboard. So with the mouse enabled if I click and hold an option, it is highlighted and I can see an faint checkbox in gray. The options then respond accordingly. So it the color of the checkbox, I think the checks are colored white.
Jason Carr
Ah, okay. That's starting to make more sense. Have you customized Windows 7 with a custom theme perhaps?
alobar
I don't use a custom theme, just classic--but that's the issue. When I use windows 7 standard it's fine. I just plan on using my PC to setup everything for the HTPC anyway so I guess it's not that big of a deal. Once everything is configured I can switch it back. Thanks! Jason Carr
Ah, good to know. That's quite interesting. Kind of a major flaw with WPF, I guess. There's actually not much I can do about it...I blame Microsoft. :P
Arcamenel
Can confirm themes are responsible for breaking the check marks on the options boxes in big box mode, I had the problem during the beta (was only in it for 2 day) and thought I'd leave it be and muck about with the program once 5.0 launched, I just found this thread and I was using a custom theme with the same problem reverted to one of the standards and it fixed it, not ideal since I prefer a darker colour but I can always switch back once I've finished with the settings. In case this info is useful to you I'm running windows 10 nothing particularly odd about my setup and toggling the theme back and forth makes the check marks appear and disappear so it's definitely that. Jason Carr
Thanks @Arcamenel, I'll see if there's anything I can do to fix that issue.
Arcamenel
@Jason Honestly I'd just put a note in the options window when you push out 5.2 if possible mentioning the fact that it may not show up if using a custom theme and then just take your time with it seeing as how W10 is so new I wouldn't be surprised if the second you fixed it Microsoft wouldn't just end up putting out a patch and breaking it 2 days later. P.S.: I'm not sure if you've already gotten to it with 5.1 I haven't read the patch notes just yet for it having just gotten the pop-up for the update. P.P.S.: I've also just realized I never mentioned what theme I was using which is very bad form for someone reporting an issue and trying to help out, hopefully this will give you some help in knowing how it broke it and why, if I can help out in any other way let me know and I'd be happy to do what I can. Jason Carr
Ah, thanks @Arcamenel. I hate those white title bars too. Come on Microsoft, you were *so close*. ;) I haven't fix this yet in 5.1.

Jason Carr
Yeah, apparently this affects more people than I expected, so I'm bumping it higher up on my priority list.
