Lordmonkus
Yes, the bios for the RA core is the same as the stand alone. Load the core and then view information for it and see if it is detecting and likes your bios. It is possible that the name could be correct but the CRC of it doesn't match and it doesn't like it. DOS76
Open RA without an game loaded and go to info and go to the core it will tell you the name of the bios and if it is present
DOS76
or just do what Monkus said
Drybonz
I've been looking in system information. It looks like there is more info in there than there used to be... however, I don't seen anything about cores or BIOS. I moved the same BIOS that works for my standalone mednafen into the system folder of RA and still nothing.
Lordmonkus
It is possible you may have to set the system folder in Options > Directory. I have seen on occasion for whatever reason you have to set it manually because RA is not looking in the \system folder.
Drybonz
Ah... I think I may have it... I updated the core info files and now I can see the Beetle named cores. *edit* Yeah, apparently, even though I updated the cores, it was updating the old mednafen named core... after updating the info files, it now has the new ones... If I load the Beetle core I can see the info for the core normally. *edit* ...and, apparently, the BIOS I used to use for mednafen is no longer the same as the one for Beetle. Walk away from this stuff for a few months and nothing works when you get back. Edited August 8, 2017 by Drybonz
Drybonz
Ok, I downloaded the BIOS files and I'm running now... thanks for the help. For some reason, though, my Guardian Heroes isn't working, although I'm pretty sure it was fine on the standalone mednafen.
Lordmonkus
Game compatibility should be the same for both version but of course there could be that one odd ball that doesn't wanna co-operate. I never had issues with Guardian Heroes in either though. Glad you got the issue sorted out though.
Drybonz
Thanks... I'll play around with it some more and maybe see if I can find another copy of GH.
Drybonz
So, even though they changed the name to "Beetle" within Retroarch, it looks like my cores are still called mednafen.xxxxx.dll Does that sound right?
Lordmonkus
Yeah you may have to do that. It's a game I actually have and ripped my own disk image for. Yeah the cores are still mednafen.
Drybonz
I actually just sold my Guardian Heroes about a week ago and didn't think to back it up before that. Ok, cool... it may be easier just to wipe my cores folder and start over since I've been out of the loop for a while.

I just saw your tip to rename the files to fix the uncorrectable sector 0 error... so I renamed my GH and it booted right up. Thanks again. Drybonz
I've been enjoying the beauty of mednafen saturn in Retroarch today... once you get it set up, it is really awesome. All the years I thought we would never have saturn emulation, and now to see how far it has come. Really great.
