Trouble Importing SNK Neo Geo AES Platform

All SNK Neo Geo AES roms are inherently included and mixed in with the MAME roms.  However, I like having them separated out for nostalgia sake.  Growing up, the Neo Geo was the best, elite, and most unobtainable console so I like browsing them separate from the other arcade games.  Additionally, unlike arcade games, the SNK Neo Geo AES games all have boxes, carts, and user manuals which display nicely as a set.

The problem I'm having is when I import the roms from a folder in LaunchBox, choose SNK Neo Geo AES, and point it at my MAME roms folder, it wants to import all the roms.

How can I have it only import the SNK Neo Geo AES roms?

Make a separate folder with all of the AES games and the neogeo bios. Then you should be able to import and scrape.

Import all your MAME roms like normal and let it create the automatic playlists. There should be Neo Geo playlists. Otherwise, you can take out all of the NeoGeo required files, import just them, make a custom platform and scrape it as Arcade.

Neo Geo is probably my favourite system for the same reasons. Luckily for me I had separated all of my Neo Geo roms in a folder back when I set up RetroArch on my Wii back in the day. I know it's a bit of a painful process, but for Neo Geo it's worth it ?

I took the idea a step further because i noticed those .bats copied 263 roms, but there were only 148 games ever made for the Neo Geo.

So i deconstructed the Neo Geo AES dat file from http://hyperlist.hyperspin-fe.com/ and created my own bat file.

Here it its for anyone who wants.  (Just copy paste into a text file, change the file name to a .bat, place it in your mame roms folder, and double-click it.)

i know this is an old post. I'm having a similar issue.  i have all mame roms imported and now when i try to import my neo geo roms it only imports 27 out 182.  Its almost like launchbox knows some of them were already imported in the mame section and skips them. any idea how i can get launchbox to add and scrape this folder and neo geo roms without skipping any?

strange thing is that if i use the option to import files instead of folder, it adds and scrapes the neo geo rom correctly.  I think this might be a bug??

disregard, user error lol, i may have had a bad neo geo rom set.  i copied a new set from my desktop and all working now
