CTRL-ALT-DEFEAT
Hi All, I compiled all of my multi-disc PS One games into PBPs quite a while ago and I use ePSXe as my emulator. I'm curious how you go about disc-swapping for these in ePSXe? I suppress the GUI for ePSXe in LaunchBox and my memory is that, similar to PCSX2, opening a second instance of the emulator so you can see the GUI won't allow you to swap to another disc. I prefer ePSXe since I've already got my plugins configured how I like them and also because it's a snap to turn analog control on/off when necessary. I messed around with PCSX Reloaded in Retroarch, but I couldn't figure out how to turn the analog on/off and the last time I tried creating separate configs for the cores to use specific shaders, etc., it wound up being a mess and I had to scrap everything and re-install RA, but I also no it has a virtual disc drive for this very thing. It also doesn't seem to emulate as well as ePSXe does either.
Lordmonkus
I don't think there is an easy way to swap disks without having the UI and using the mouse. No keyboard shortcuts to do it or anything that I could find though I suppose it is possible that one of the other available controller plugins may have something. PCSX Reloaded core in Retroarch is not very good in comparison to ePSXe but the Mednafen / Beetle core is equal to it.
fromlostdays
I'm pretty sure you can do this in Rocketlauncher, but I'd check the forums. In RetroArch you can launch an m3u file instead of a cue and swap discs on the fly.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using Tapatalk
CTRL-ALT-DEFEAT
I'm giving a Beetle a spin now. I figured out how to switch between controller types. Not as nice as just pressing F5, but it works However, the core crashes whenever I try to bump up the internal resolution from native to anything higher than that. Is this a know deal? Lordmonkus
No, you should be able to bump the resolution though I suggest using the Vulkan renderer for it since it will give you much better performance. I have mine setup for my 3D games to run at 8x resolution.
CTRL-ALT-DEFEAT
Hrm... I'm using the HW version of Beetle and set the Renderer in the Core to Vulkan and the Driver in RA to Vulkan (was set to OpenGL) and it still just crashes (I'm on version 1.60 of RA and ran the core updater), so not sure. I found a thread where someone else had this problem, but fixed it by making sure the Renderer and Driver were the same. If I change the driver to anything other than GL, RA crashes as soon as you try to open the RA UI to change the core renderer. Blah.
Lordmonkus
Yeah the driver thing is still annoying in the way that it can't change on the fly. My way around this was to have a duplicate install just for Vulkan.
shinra358
I can confirm the constant crashes. For me, if I use scalefx with rez higher than x1, 100% crash every time.
SentaiBrad
If you converted to PBP, then it should happen automatically, that's part of the point with PBP's. I've heard people tell me differently recently, but that was part of the reason I made that tutorial in the first place.
ThePhlexican
Not trying to beat a dead horse, but I can confirm that disc switching on a PBP does not happen in ePSXe using LaunchBox. I have ePSXe set to fullscreen so when I click a game in LaunchBox that's how it opens. I am in the middle of playing Final Fantasy VII from a PBP and when I reached the end of the first disc play came to a halt and I was unable to continue. Only solution I can see from research so far is run ePSXe independently and explicitly select run disc 2 in order to continue the game, since there is apparently no way to switch discs when ePSXe is in fullscreen mode. Pressing ESC closes the emulation window but you still don't have access to the menu to change discs. Not sure about other emulators because I haven't tried them yet.
