Merged vs Non-Merged

Hi All, I’m upgrading my Mame set now that LaunchBox rolled out the new import. 

I know the technical differences between merged and non merged, what I want are people’s opinions of which I should use. 

I don’t really care about the disk space, I care more that games work and work well with LaunchBox and the mame emulator.

If you plan on making your own custom set of roms for portability on another device or something use Non Merged. If you don't care about that then use either Split or Merged, both are find.

All 3 are perfectly fine to use in terms of working.

I previously used split...When I just upgraded I switched to merged. The merged set is alot cleaner in the directory,but,I notice no other benefits over either choice.

I had the same situation and went with merged

I had this issue lately too, I decided to go with split set in the end purely so I could have all the clones in the additional apps so I could access the 2 player & 4 player versions of games (Simpsons, X-Men & TMNT) but also save a little space compared to the non-merged set.

Using the merged set,I still am able to access the alternate versions through additional apps.

That's good to know @RetroHumanoid, I didn't think you could which is the main reason I went for the Split Set...I may rebuild mine set to non merged on the next update
