This is giving me a headacke as no matter what I do I cant get this damn thing to run

I downloaded retroarch, I installed it, went to cores, told it to download Saturn beetle, said it was installed.

I opened retroarch, closed retroarch, put the bios in the systems folder, made a ROMS folder and placed my game in there, went to load core, selected beetle, went to load content and selected the rom folder, selected the game file and no matter what I do I just get failed to load.

I have the game format as a MDF-MDS file but that refused to load. Zipped those into 1 file and they still refused to load

Had a zipped file of the same game but as a CUE file and yet that still refused to load

some please....the hell am I doing wrong here?

im using the bios from my yabusa (however its spelled) emulator and that's got like several different versions. I put them all in and tested the game with each one and nothing worked. I typed in the one below and downloaded it off a certain emu site and put that in and yet still the game refuses to load

I go to scan directory - select roms and yet nothing shows up on the side. its seeing them its just not adding them to the side for some reason

pretty sure I have this one

mpr-17933.bin

no one got any idea at all why this isn't working then?

i downloaded the beetle core, made a roms folder, put the cue,bin file in there, put the bios in the system folder, audited the folder to scan for roms (nothing showed up for Saturn but my mega drive roms showed up) tried to load the rom manually (Saturn one) and i just get an error failed to load message.

is there a reason why when i scan the folders my Saturn games don't show?

I've updated the core and the database so wtf am i doing wrong here? I thought mednafen through retroarch was meant to be easy

Error fail to load is usually because the game or the bios is wrong/broken,if you load the core and go to info in the main Retroarch UI does it show the bios as present?

My games imported there fine but mine are in CHD format. Also when you try to load the game in Retroarch you are loading the .cue right not the .bin, bins dont work in the beetle saturn core.

i tried loading the cue file but again, error....

i have the right bios unless I'm a complete idiot and someone else can link me to one they KNOW works. I'm sure the one i have is right but no matter what i do it just refuses to work.

I'm remembering why i never liked my Saturn now ....

No we cant link bios files.

Have you actually checked in Retroarch that it is the correct bios like i asked? The name may be the same but that doesnt mean it is correct or will work, retroarch will say its present if correct, like you can see in this image. Both my JAP and US/EU say they are present.

ok I FINALLY managed to get it to load 1 single game

it still wont find fighters megamix

however when I loaded fighting vipers it ran like a toaster...graphics looked awful....sound was a mess....

what gives? yabusa runs things better than this...what did I do wrong

I try and run fighters megamix manually and it says uncorrupable data sector 8 or something?

im really starting to hate this piece of crap emulator

The emulator is fantastic, if it doesn't work you either have incorrect bios, incorrectly named bios (case matters) or you have bad disk images. There are a ton of bad disk images out there and the emulator requires good disk dumps, ReDump and DarkWater are both good dumps.

it doesn't use my Gpu at all?.....

that's perhaps the most stupidest thing I've ever heard all month.

does it even run the graphics off the Gpu or is it running off my motherboard?

Christ i thought this emulator was meant to be good. It's like I've gone back in time to 1999

You will find most emulators only use the CPU, some use a GPU as well but not many. I think you may need to read up on how emulation actually works, the vast majority of it is all done on the CPU.

since when?

dolphin uses my gpu to run the games, redream is using my gpu to run games, nulldc and demul seem to be using my gpu to run the games, my n64 games seem to be running off the gpu, cemu while it does take stuff from my cpu its using my gpu to run it

Even my psx emulator is using my gpu to run stuff.

This is practically the only emulator ive used which has been a nightmare to get to bloody run anything

Your HONESTLY telling me there are no settings in this emulator to change things to run off my gpu? I cant do things like add AA or change the resolution to a higher setting?

this emulator just isn't worth it if that's the case

In all emulators CPU is the most important driving force in driving it. GPU is only used for graphical enhancements and in some cases shader caches and outputting the image itself to your monitor.

You can say that Mednafen or the RA Beetle core isn't worth it or even bad but it is by far the best Saturn emulation you will find.

if I can run a game like Mario kart 8 perfectly, gamecube resident evil code veronica x perfectly and various others....yet this Saturn emulator cant run fighting vipers while my am2 emulator can...…….Christ.....

just like when I actually owned a Saturn back when it first came out its disappointed me yet again. I literally just wana play 2 games off it and that's it. If mednafen really is the best emulator for this console then someone needs to go back and start again because its awful if its this badly made.

Thanks for the help guys but im just gona leave this alone. Its not worth the hassle to just play 2 average games at best. Ill just stick to my other games or focus on emulators which can actually work properly
