KevinP
Hi All, I have the Mame 0.206 roms and now need the CHDs. Do I need the [FREE] MAME 0.206 Software List CHDs (merged) that is 2.47 TB or just the [FREE] MAME 0.206 CHDs (merged)? What is the difference? Also, can I import the roms now and the CHDs later with the Fullset Importer? Thanks much! Edited February 11, 2019 by KevinP
Lordmonkus
You want the second one, that's for the arcade stuff. The software lists is for the console stuff like Sega CD, TurboGrafx CD and Playstation, software lists Mame sets are for consoles and computers. KevinP
Great- Thank you! Much smaller file. Can I import my roms now with Fullset Importer or should I wait until I have the CHDs?
Lordmonkus
I'm fairly certain you can import without the CHDs and be fine, just add the CHDs to your collection after. I don't believe there are any games that are CHD only without a normal zip file rom associated with it. Hopefully someone else like @DOS76 can provide a better answer for you since CHDs are something I don't deal with at all.
KevinP
Thanks Lordmonkus! Very glad I'm back in the scene and appreciate the support!
DOS76
I know there are some CHD only games (a few version of Golden Tee are CHD only) but I think that the importer will just use the data from MAME and import them also if they are considered working regardless of whether or not you have the files. neil9000
Yeah, although the fullset importer asks you for the location of your full romset it doesnt actually scan that folder for what is there. It assumes you have a fullset as that is what the importer is for, so it adds all known working games to Launchbox using the MAME metadata as to what games work and which dont. You could technically point it at a empty folder and it would still add all the working games to Launchbox. All you need to do when you have the CHD pack is to point MAME to the location of them if you are not using the default roms folder inside the MAME emulator folder.
