I'm tackling the Arcade platform and wanted to throw some ideas out to the community to see what everyone's thoughts are:

1. Game titles with parentheses or brackets should be removed since the parser removes those and it makes it difficult to find in a search in LaunchBox. Does anyone know of any other ASCII characters we should avoid in game titles?
2. I've run across several games with the same name in Arcade but they are different games (Badlands, Super Dodge Ball, etc.) I posted to change them to "Super Dodge Ball: Neo Geo" and "Badlands: Atari" because if the game title is the same name, the metadata won't differentiate in LaunchBox. This is the method I used, but I'm curious if anyone has better ideas.
3. I'm also migrating all games from platforms that are now being used as playlists (Sega Model 1, 2, 3, Naomi, Sammy Atomisewave, etc.) and putting them all in Arcade. I'm making sure that all media is being merged so nothing gets lost. What is everyone's thoughts of removing platforms that are now playlists?
4. Could we create a platform to move all the casino/fruit games out of Arcade since they are not arcade games?

Please let me know what everyone thinks. Together we can make this the best videogame database on the internet!

1. Completely agree as long as it follows this rule:

image.thumb.png.02843b69d4783057484016136f242b0f.pngAlthough, I'm not too familiar with Arcade games, so I usually use this site for proper titles: https://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9888 (super dodge ball linked in this instance). Also I believe parenthesis are superscript: https://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/207e/index.htm

2. Refer to #1.

3. I don't quite understand what you mean, most likely due to my lack of knowledge in this area.

I'm not sure Parenthesis or brackets break the parser any more, dashes are to be avoided.

Please don't migrate any games from any platforms they are in. If you believe it should also be in Arcade create them there as well but DO NOT move or delete games out of the approved Platforms.  In many cases we have Launchbox branded videos on how to set platforms up, such as the Sammy Atomiswave video, if you remove them from the platform that video just became useless.  Do know that it takes a lot to get a platform approved so if it is there, it is for a reason.

If someone has taken the time to add casino and fruit games I say leave them.

Good thing you asked us about this before attempting to move or delete any of them. If you had put in several hundred moderations to delete and move games before posting this you would have ruined some moderators evenings

@Thanatos_Prime Oh no! I had already started and the Sammy Atomiswave platform is empty. My apologies, I will move them back and copy over media and metadata from those games into games under "Arcade". -Jeffe10

Not sure i like this meddling in the DB.. As a whole the DB does a fairly good job, but when people go messing aboui in it, things tend to end up broken or non exsistant.

As shown in the post above...........

I'm deeply saddened that this slipped by the mods, I appreciate that you're willing to move them back.

hmm, I wonder if enough people approved the requests for deletion. Then even if Jeffe is moving them back, will they have a different URL? Rendering those videos that have links useless?
