jacobradio
New to LB/BB, I toyed around in LB for a few days and set up all of my emulators and squared away all of the metadata/images etc. I haven't downloaded any videos yet. I decided to upgrade to BB, then watched a tutorial on how to manually install some new themes. I downloaded several (Switch Dark, Aeon, Unified, and some more), installed them as per the tutorial, and my themes did show up and change in BB, however none of my images are showing up (3D Box, Box, Cart, etc). I watched 3-4 tutorials and none of them mentioned how to get the art I've already downloaded in LB to show up. A few mentioned how to add your own custom art, but I feel like I'm missing something. Every tutorial just installed and boom, images. Mine did not. Do I really have to download or copy all of my images into a new folder? Do I have to rename thousands of images to associate them to their game/platform? I've tried force refreshing images, changing Options>Views>Platform/Game view and nothing seems to show up. I get the default fonts for my game titles. I'm sure I either misunderstand the process (I figured I could download a theme and the images I have from LB would automatically appear), or missed a step. There's probably a step-by-step guide I'm missing, but I can't seem to find this particular bit of info. All of the tutorials I've found end with "drap/drop the theme you downloaded into the theme folder and you're good to go". Which to be honest I think I could have figured out myself. Thanks in advance! Edited March 3, 2021 by jacobradio clarification
C-Beats
Images from LaunchBox and images in Big Box are all the same files so you have something going on if you can see them in one and not the other. Does Default theme work for you?
Retro808
Can you post an image from one of the themes? Seeing exactly what you see can help in troubleshooting. As long as you used the LB UI to download images they will be named correctly and placed in the correct folder that no other work should be needed on your part for a BB theme to show the images.
jacobradio
Here's some screenshots of what I'm seeing. Also, I've deleted all the theme folders I placed into launchbox/themes this morning. Default theme in screenshots, not working 100% either Edited March 3, 2021 by jacobradio cleanup
Your Friendly A.I Overlord
In BigBox > Options > Image Cache, can you try to refresh or force populate images?

Refresh All Images -> ~2 seconds to complete Force Populate All Game Wheel Images -> 1:10 to complete Force Populate All CoverFlow Images -> 3:00 to complete I don't see any changes. Also, I did download the images through the UI. Could it have to do with me renaming the Platforms in LB? I change the name from "Nintendo 64" to "N64" through the UI. When it asked if I wanted to change the folder names for the games, I said no.

You could either rename them or in LaunchBox > Tools > Manage Platforms > N64 change the image location. You have to refresh the images in LaunchBox afterwards.

Yeah. That is why. I would take a bet that if you opened LaunchBox and went to your N64 platform, then selected a box and pressed CTRL-A to select all then F5 to refresh the cache you would suddenly not see any images there either. Big Box is looking for images in the N64 folder when they are in the Nintendo 64 folder. It will cause metadata scrape issues as well if you didn't set N64 to scrape as Nintendo 64

Then look in you image type folders like 3D Box. Are there and images? If not check the old named folder of Nintendo 64 and see if the images are there.
jacobradio
? OK, so I highlighted all and F5'd and you were spot on; the images disappeared. I'm going to name the platforms back and see if that fixes it. I guess I thought the rename would act like a 'display name' while keeping the actual config the same. Thank you for y'alls time, I'll report back once I change back and try again, in case someone finds this useful in the future. To quote Michael Bolton: "I always do that. I always mess up some mundane detail."
jacobradio
Thanks again, all. You helped me troubleshoot what I broke. Changing the platform title back to the original when scraped did the trick.

Gotcha, I might end up doing that later! Thanks again
Sloley
I want to chime in since I had a similar issue. What worked for me is the following: I went to 'View' > 'Image Group' > [selected downloaded media] For whatever reason, the settings were off the media I had downloaded. Once I selected the correct media type everything populated right away.
