tmagni78
Hello ALL, I'm coming from the CoinOps world where they use MAME for NES/SNES/Genesis/etc. I'd like to keep using MAME for NES however for the life of me I cannot get Launchbox to import any of my roms when i select MAME as my emulator. If I try to use NESTOPIA as the emulator, it imports all the roms. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Lordmonkus
I would highly advise you not to use Mame for those systems. NES and SNES emulation on Mame is horrible, Mesen (NES) and Snes9x or Bsnes (SNES) are much better emulators by a large margin. Genesis though is pretty good in Mame but I would still suggest the GenesisGX core in Retroarch. As for your actual question though, your games should import perfectly fine unless you are using some sort of weird rom set. We recommend the use of No-Intro sets for cart based systems. C-Beats
You may have to uncheck all the MAME filters when importing and selecting MAME as an emulator, especially if the rom names don't match MAME standard naming.
tmagni78
So I've unchecked all the filters and still no dice. Will not find anything. Can you do bezels with those other emulators?

Can you do bezels with those other emulators? What format are your actual roms in, are they mame roms or standard .nes roms? if they are standard .nes roms, run the standard importer, not the mame one, and dont choose mame as your emulator, choose anything else, and finish out the wizard and allow to import. Once all finished highlight all the games in that platform with CTRL-A and right click one and edit, change the emulator to mame.
tmagni78
Roms are .zip and .nes. I was able to import them based on importing them with a diff emulator. Now I can't get Mame to open them.

Can you share pics of your Associated Platforms tab for Mame in LB Manage Emulators. You may be missing the platform name and command lines needed to run consoles. If you should happen to be using software list for those consoles there is a plugin made by one of our forum members that will work. Did these roms come from the CoinOps you were using? This is of course after testing your roms load in the version of the emulator you have without Launchbox being involved.
Inquisitor
Also you shouldnt really be using two different file types like that, either zip everything and tell Launchbox to unzip before loading, or unzip the .nes roms from inside the zips.
