Hi @Jdzspace,

I've found something for you:

For a few weeks ago, there was a third party program to activate/deactivate the autostart before explorer.exe. Unfortunately, i didn't find it anymore..

Thank you, but i don't have the skill or understanding to pull off what they did there. I was hoping there was a tool i could download or something i didn't understand about the shell startup method or something like that. Maybe I just won't get it done after all.....sucks, but i'm not sure what else to do.

There is a youtube video which explains the way you can do this. I'm not sure if i'm allowed to put external links in there.

Also, there is a program in this forum. But i don't find it. It is called "startbox" or so ..

yes, the video is where I got the shell:startup strategy from, but the program refuses to start. Plus it feels like the only way I can get big box to start is if i go through launch box first. it is very frustrating, but thanks again for your help

when i put the exe file into shell:startup like the LB video says it did nothing on start up

I'm not sure if you were just paraphrasing, but you need to put a shortcut to BigBox.exe in the Startup folder. Not the .exe file itself.  This won't make it "seamless", but it will start BigBox when you turn on (or restart) the computer.

shell:startup is basically just navigating to the folder "C:\Users\Joe\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup"  (Changing "Joe" to whatever your user name is in Windows.)  I assume the videos and articles you watched/read mentioned that, but I didn't look at them.  Oh, and if they by chance mentioned anything like 'set the shortcut to run as Admin', DON'T DO THAT!  It'll just create problems and do no good.

To completely hide any semblance of Windows and its UI (Explorer.exe) is [or at least was(?)] possible, but is kind of a pain. As you're discovering.  Especially when (not "if") you need to actually get back to it to be able make any changes or do anything 'Windows'.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I did just like you said but I restarted my system and it's been sitting here and it won't open. It is probably worth saying that the only way I can usually get big box to open is from inside launch box, maybe I should uninstall and reinstall? But then wrong I lose everything I put in there? Is there a way to back up launch box so I can try to fix this?

You can go into ../LaunchBox/Updates/  and run the most recent update in there and it will install without removing your Data folder (where your Platform and Playlist info is saved).

When running it, be careful where you choose to install it.  If LaunchBox is currently installed in  D:\LaunchBox, chose D:\ as the location to install it.  It will automatically add the LaunchBox folder.  Otherwise, if you choose  D:\LaunchBox, it will install it in D:\LaunchBox\LaunchBox\.

Can you even start with the bigbox shortcut on windows (desktop not startup)? ? did it ever work with bigbox in windows?

i couldn't, i think it's because i moved the entire launch box folder onto my SD card, and I think that messed everything up as far as how the shorcuts worked after that, even when i deleted the old ones. so i just ran the installer again and it fixed the problem. now it opens on startup. Not as fast as i would like, but given my skill level it's fine.

Great! And now it starts before "explorer.exe" starts (no desktop and windows Bar)?

I've heard of users they told that they have sound problems or something else, because explorer.exe is not running. How do you fix this - or have you any of this problems?

Explorer still opens first, but if i leave it on the log in screen long enough when i open it big box is running. and normally I have to wait a minute or so for it to open up. It's not perfect, but i don't want to mess with the other stuff. at least for now
