3DS issue with games not loading.

Hi there. Bit of a noob so just go easy.

I've been looking at 3DS games. Got retroarch and LB on my PC. Found some games. Downloaded citra in retroarch. Load rom, finds game (zelda), finds artwork, click, play, beautiful.

I cannot get any other game to work. Finding the games from the same sources, all .3ds files but not a single one works....just select, press play, little blue circle flashes up for a second or so and thats it. Click back to Zelda, opens within 3 seconds....come out try any other game....and nothing.

Help :)

Does it work if you launch it inside of RetroArch?

I didn't think of trying that. I've just done it and the first two games that I loaded worked, the third said something about needing to be decrypted, but I think i've read about that. So yes, they load in retroarch but not launchbox.

Then to go Tools > Manage Emulators, and find RetroArch in the list select it and press Edit. Once it opens go to the "Associated Platforms" tab and make sure your Nintendo 3DS platform is in there with the exact same name as what you set your platform up as. If not you'll want to add it in there and set the core appropriately.

Not sure what you mean here. I select my game, the drop down menu says 3ds, then use RA as my emulator and it just imports it all. Can you just explain this like i'm an idiot....lol. I have gone to associated platforms and it's just listed as Nintendo 3DS with the core next to it.

I mean the platform name you imported the game to. If you edit the game the value in the Platform field. The row in the Edit Emulator window needs to match that string exactly (including capitalization). So if you imported "Nintendo Entertainment System" as "NES" then you'd need to modify that row to match (potentially, depends on what version you imported it with at this point)

I'm still stuck. I import the rom, the drop down mentu just says "Nintendo 3DS", the it says to use retroarch as the emu, then all the scraping stuff and it brings the game in with artwork etc. I've gone to associated platforms where it shows the platform and the core. It's just Nintendo 3DS. No hyphens or anything.

Like i stated above, your roms will not work, encrypted roms simply CANNOT be used in 3DS emulators. You either need to unencrypt them or get roms that are already decrypted. There is nothing you can do in retroarch's citra core, or standalone citra, or Launchbox to make those roms work as is. they need decrypting in order to ever work.

I think the ones I got stated they were decrypted. All but one open in RA.....just not in LB.

Well i was going on that statement, you said one game works but no others do.

And then you said that, about the emulator saying the game needs decrypting, well that is 100% true, the games that state that will not work with any emulator in there current form.

If one game is launching from within Launchbox then it is setup correctly, and all games in that platform should work.

Are you actually using the citra 2018 core in retroarch, or simply the citra core, those are different, so that may be the issue.

ffs.......looks like that was it.

Went to Retroarch and looked at the cores and there was just Citra there. I downloaded Citra 2018 in RE, closed it down and loaded up one of the old files that I had. Loaded up. Did it with a second game....that's loaded up too.

As I said i'm just learning. I think my confusion was when you import the game and it states RA will import the core for you. I think I just had Citra on RA and 2018 on Launchbox and they weren't talking to each other? Strange how link to the past was working but non of the others did.

I had the citra 2018 core running in LB but not in Retroarch.....they seem to be working now....lol. Told you I was a noob......hehe

I am having the same problem however I do not see any irregularity... Not even typo >

Associated Platform : Nintendo 3DS

Core: Citra_Libretro

Application Path: Emulators\retroarch\retroarch.exe

Extra Command Line Parameter: cores\citra_libretro.dll

Default Command Line Parameter: cores\citra_libretro.dll

Yeah...

The games do not launch. In addition, when I double clicked on one, a window showed detail on the right however I exited it and it has not returned regardless of having double clicked on the game, since. Only the hour glass appears for a moment - split second. Like <.5 of a second. No activity otherwise...

I've only ever used stand-alone Citra. But a couple RetroArch-related settings you have stand out....

Edit your emulator.

Uncheck the boxes Remove Quotes and Remove space before ROM.  You can also completely remove the Default Command-Line Parameters (on this screen).  [It gets overridden on the next screen. So serves no purpose for this emulator.]

In the Associated Platforms section, replace the Extra Command-Line Parameters with -f (just like the others).
