Bought full license but program is stuck on downloading bezel pack bezelProject-Mame...

I installed the full mame rom set and selected to download the bezels.    The application appears to download, then start over after some point.  (timeout maybe?)

If I hit cancel the application seems to be stuck and will not cancel.  If I restart the app it starts trying to download again over and over.

How can I determine what the issue is causing the download to restart over and over?  Is there some way to stop the reattempting besides the cancel which does not seem to work?

That kills the download.  I tried to restart it several times even selecting only system or only theme bezels but it typically gets about 40% across when it starts over again.

Is there anyway to download the bezels outside the app (ftp or something?)  and manually place them in a folder?

Is there anyway to find out why the download keeps restarting?

Found them on github:

Both zip files are "invalid" and have errors when trying to extract them.

bezelproject-MAME-master.zip

bezelprojectSA-MAME-master.zip

How can you install them manually?   Importing image packs does not show an option for "bezel."

Discovered that anytime I try to download the files they never get fully downloaded and therefore corrupt.

Probably why the failure for the import in Launchbox as well.

The two downloads constantly fail through firefox or chrome if trying directly.
I've let Launchbox go at it overnight but it never completes.   If those files were somewhere else I could likely get it intact but Github is the only site where I cannot complete large downloads.
I have to find out why Github keeps failing to download while I can download other sites (with larger files) without an issue.

Yeah, obviously we have no control over github, plus the bezel project isnt us either so we cant control anything there either unfortunately. Not really sure there is anything that our devs can do directly to alleviate the issue as its not on "our end" so to speak unfortunately.

Out of curiosity I downloaded both files directly from Github using Firefox and they extracted without errors using 7-zip. Maybe this is not very helpful to you, but it's probably not Github that is the cause of your failing downloads.

I tried using FireFox, Chrome and Edge (ugh) but they all failed to complete.  Currently I am trying to clone the project using the GitHub Desktop app.   Since there are lots of smallish files it seems to be getting through it so far.  I'm not sure why this is an issue with Github.  I can download much larger files from various other sites and never have an issue.

I managed to get both folders MAME and SA-MAME downloaded via the Github desktop app in Windows.  No zip file but the individual files and folders.

I am including a shot of the folder structure (same in both)

Can someone tell me what folders to copy to LaunchBox and where they go?

You can't use the contents of the Github repositories from our Project directly on a Windows machine. Those cfg files included use Linux paths intended for RetroPie. LaunchBox and the bezel project Windows app installer converts the files on the fly for use on a Windows box.

Having said that, if you are familiar with Retroarch and the folder structure, you can mass edit the cfg files under the config directories to use the correct path values, but I wouldn't recommend this for most everyone.

So bottom line is I can't use bezels apparently.   Since the  download happens with Github and it fails constantly then I have no options.

Crap.

Why are you downloading zips of anything? Just grab the exe installer: https://github.com/thebezelproject/BezelProject-Windows/releases

Several days later...

I discovered that my ISP was somehow throttling my access to Github but no other site.  Not only throttling but timing out a lot. They have so far done nothing to resolve the issue.

Impossible to download a large file via Github at all.

While waiting on them to figure out the issue I decided to make my phone a hotspot and then connect the PC to it only.  I was able to download everything normally.

I doubt anyone else will ever run into this odd issue again but thought I should make a follow-up post to tell what I did to resolve it.

Its been a month plus for this and I am also having the same issue.  I even tried to log onto Reddit via browser and still locks up about the same as described.  I am using the Bezel Project Setup file and that seems to be working but yes I still think a bug might still be in this part of LB.

I don't think it is a bug in LB exactly.  The program is trying to download and extract a zip file from Github. Github doesn't support resuming downloads so if there is a failure it has to start all over again.  In my case that meant it would perpetually download and never get a valid file. It typically would get around 450 to 550 of the 670MB file.  Once I used a hotspot from my phone (instead of the local ISP) everything worked as expected.   Something in the routing was killing my download from completing.  You can test by trying to download the project Bezel file yourself through your browser and see if it completes.  Mine never did.  At that point LB is not involved.
