I am struggling to get a mixture of arcade games to work from my mame libretro rom folder. It was all working in my test rig last year but now i have built the final rig with the latetst launch box  i cant seem t create 2 platforms for arcade and have one with MAME 2003 and one with MAME 2016 which some game run on and some dont. The embedded retroarch does not even have Mame 2016 core so i switched to retroarch 64 manul install. I had Mr D0 working with MAME 2016 core then created a 2nd arcade platform for Gauntlet with Mame 2003 core which also worked but then Mr do stopped working

any advice is most welcome

Best advice is ditch mixing and matching cores and roms and download a more current set of Mame roms and use standalone Mame. Save you a ton of headache with games as well as future frustrations when upgrading programs.

What do you mean by "embedded Retroarch"? If you are talking about using LB to download and install RA during set-up that is not an embedded version of RA. LB just download the same RA any users would download from their site.

found some mame packs 2003 to 2016. will give the 2003 a go. Thanks Retro808

Why not just get the current romset? MAME 2003, is funnily enough from 2003, so is missing tons of games, as well as you having to use the inferior retroarch core rather than the actual standalone emulator. You wont be able to use the MAME fullset importer we provide with a 2003 romset either, causing you more headaches.

Just have to say if it took you years to collect roms I think you have gone about this the long way. If you still wish to chase random rom sets by all means go ahead.

Just going to give one last piece of advice (which I believe you already received in the now deleted thread):

Google "Pleasuredome io"

The first hit is the only site you need. Click on it and then scroll down until you see Mame Full Sets. All the arcade roms you want in one neat pack (even the CHD files are on that site for the games that need them). Never any worries if a games will work or not. Then use those roms with current Mame or current Mame core in RA. It may be more roms then you may ever want. However, if you do ever want to add a new game no hassle in searching for it since you already have it and it will not take you years.

I tried the 2033 mame plus set from Archive org with 2003 mame plus core , that did not work on the first 2 roms. Currently downloading merged, non-merged and split for the source you suggested. Hope one of them 79GB to 139GB work because the next set with CHD's merged is nearly 1TB and will take some time. I hope my problem is not something else other than the set. On a related note, any idea why retroarch does not provide mame 2016 core?

Apologies. I did not realize i deleted and recreated the same thread.

This is definitely a launch box configuration issue

I have done some more testing and still cant get Mr Do to work. with Launch Box, but it works when launched directly from retroarch that launch box installed

I have tied merged and split "mrdo" run from launch box with

mame2000_libretro

mame2003_libretro

mame2003_midway_libretro

mame2003_plus_libretro

mame2010_libretro

mame_libretro

None of them work.

When i open retroarch direct select mame2010_libretro with Mrdo split it works just fine. I don't understand why it will not run from launch box with the same core setting?
