New Premium User. Games work fine in project 64 but are jerky & audio garbled in Launchbox/Retroarch. Same with Mame roms.

Hi!  I just purchased a premium subscription of LaunchBox.  I have Roms for TurboGrafx 16, Mame, n64 & more.  They all do the same thing in Launchbox.  They are slow and sound is garbled.  Everything works fine with other emulators, but none of them work in launchbox and retroarch.  I even tried them directly through retroarch.

What do i do?

Thank you.  Mozelle

Yes.  I know.  Everything is set up correctly.  I loaded everything on my laptoreproach. The exact same way and they all work fine just doesn't work on my desktop.

But if I use other emulators on my desktop, no issues.  Only issues with retroarch on desktop.

Inside Retrarch check the video settings when you are running a game to confirm it is set to 60Hz and not 50Hz or something odd.

If I go to my monitors advanced video settings, it's at 29hz but it won't go any higher.  I'm connected via hdmi to my 4k tv.

In that case either your Cable or the port on your GPU/Motherboard does not support HDMI 2.0, so cant do 4K 60. Drop it to 1080p, or look into what connections you actually have and if they even do 4K 60 or not.

I guess it could also be your display if its a reallly early 4K display.

When I first started trying out games in LaunchBox I was getting 30fps, and I had to change the resolution through Windows down to 1080p and therefore with that resolution it showed 60Hz(fps) besides it.  I selected that and now I get the 60fps for each game.

I don't have a video card, but just enough with the cpu/gpu to run everything fine.  All you really need is 1080 for most.

I have a similar problem with the sound in MAME triggered by LB and when the sound during the game becomes distorted, the character I am moving suddenly stands still and does not want to go further, I have to release the joystick to the neutral position and tilt it again in this direction to keep the character moving. It irritates me a lot because it often ends up losing my life in the game. I thought it might have to do with Retroarch and its cores but now I know LB doesn't use Retroarch for MAME games. When I run the MAME (I use 0.243 version) itself, with LB turned off, everything is fine. I have this problem on every LB version that I have used since purchasing (in March this year) the license. I have no such issues in any other platforms in LB or with newer games on my pc.

--edit--

Oh, I found this topic

Now I'm not sure if LB really launch MAME roms directly from MAME or by Retroarch and its cores?
