Why has someone changed all (or most)  the SNES Carts from "Carts - Front"  to "Fanart - Carts - front". When my roomate was adding his snes images he wasn't getting carts and some box art so we went to check SNES sure enough all carts have been moved to Fanart - Carts - Front and alot of EU has been changed to United Kingdom not to mention DUbs of NA and EU Game title screenshots and logos have exact images. is thyis me or is theis the way things are now?  (he doesn't download all images as to save on hard drive space so he doesnt grab IE fanart )

He also is actively voting against me when i try and change them im no 99% sure its him because its only 1 vot to reject the rest are accept why would anyone reject when ther is no carts and these clearly are real and also when they get through he just tries to change again and when he looses he just keeps trying hopeing to get those moderators that don't even pay attention to what there modding just accept everything!

https://gamesdb.launchbox-app.com/games/details/258-air-cavalry

these are the first 3 a randomly opened and all carts are in Fanart im talking like 95% out of the 3 i got 100% but i have seen some where there is one but the others are in fanart I think thats because someone noticed no Cart imagesand added new ones also some people are telling me to put eu + NA world tag when there is a Japan relese aswell  for game title screen shot or a logo now this guy is changing thathe is now put a image for NA and EU even if there the same for Gametitles and logos either way on these cases doesnt matter to me which way  i just think we should do it one way its getting very messy.  The  carts in fanart thats just dumb because if you want carts when you scrape for your games you get no carts unless you do fan art for SNES

also he telling us that its been like this for years in SNES and thats not true i scraped my SNES last year and moist carts were there were literly have a conversation thru moderating I put the carts back in Carts - Front And he puts it back and he give me this long reason then obviously others are voting him down but he sometimes gets it through because there are some moderators that don't pay much attention but its getting frustrating and I have been trying to clean up PS1 and addnew image that ar missing and clean it up bad links missing images and such but I want to do it right way so it would be nice to get it straighened out.

This is just wild.  We have enough phenomenal HQ cart, box, whatever else SETS made by the community.  I feel like LBDB (staff, or whomever) should just grab those sets, rename appropriately, and have those as the defaults and then lock it.  Option stuff can be added by the user after that, or given a choice: Default LBDB HQ set (community username contributor) , or Fanart cart random.

After reviewing the images, I can see why a moderator changed the flags. They aren't cart scans they are images made in photo-shop. notice how the cart in the same images is the exact same (like pixel perfect the same). You'd not get that with a scan. I can see your point that sometimes having images that in the front category would be called "reconstructed" in the pure "fanart" section being kinda confusing though since if these are done correctly look like real carts (and I admit the ones on those pages are done well enough I was second guessing myself at first). This is one of those things I believe the mods are actually correct, but the way users perceive the types causes confusion. @AstroBob mentioned early this week he was taking a look at a lot of the moderator guidelines. Pinged him so he can see register this as a potential pinch point moving forward we can look at and potentially address.

This other thing I want to clear up.  See how he has put dubs for the EU and NA Game title Screen Shot (also does it for the clear logos)  I was under the understanding the EU & Na images that are the same should be 1 image with the heading World and i think it should be like the later because he is not taking the Oceania & South America Countries in consideration.  Just want a clarification because I do a bit of Moding of games I believe its better if everyone is doing it one way because he has changed all the SNES games his way and I have told him the majority is doing the other way and he said he doesn't care the way the majority is doing it because there way is  wrong and hes right. I don't care either way I just would like to Know the right way.

I’ve actually noticed the same thing on my side, not just with SNES but across other platforms as well. At first I thought it was just a few isolated cases, but after a while you realize it’s pretty consistent. That said, I think it’s important to keep in mind that this is a massive amount of work for the moderators and contributors. Organizing all these assets isn’t easy at all, especially when you start dealing with high-quality recreations that are almost indistinguishable from the originals. And I think that’s really where the issue comes from. Some of these “fanart” carts or covers are so close to the real thing that it becomes tricky to classify them properly. Technically they’re not original scans, but visually they’re sometimes just as good  or even cleaner.

Maybe what’s missing is a clearer threshold or guideline. Like, if a recreation reaches a certain level of accuracy and quality, it could be considered equivalent to an official asset and placed in the standard categories (like “Carts - Front”), instead of being pushed into fanart. It’s definitely not a perfect system right now, but I don’t think it’s intentional either — more like the side effect of how complex and subjective this kind of classification can be.

Mabye we can get a more a more of a comprehensive list of what the rules are for what submitions and also how things are to be tagged with some examples. because I was moving them and was told not to do it or else also people loose the vote on there submission so they just repost.  Literley I was told if the item   title screen if its the same ie na and eu are identicle they would be put under world and only 1 image even if the japan has a diferent so when I see double image that are the same i would change it that same guy that was doing that with the carts would change it back  would get voted down and then again he would repost it he literley did it atleast 20 time on many diferent images said he didnt care what others thought he was going to do it his way.  We need it done 1 way not 2 or more ways it just gets messy and annoying.  I myself have done atleast 30000 submitions and 1.5 mil moderations. I don't want to do all that work for someone to come and start doing it a different way!

I understand your point about consistency, and I actually agree that we need clear and unified rules. That’s exactly the issue here: right now, things are not clearly defined, so people interpret them differently. But constantly reverting submissions and reposting the same content over and over again, especially when others disagree, just creates confusion and slows everything down. In the long run, it does not really help the database. It mostly creates noise and frustration.

Personally, if it were up to me, I would honestly use AI to help clean up and sort all of this much faster. (AI critics are going to fall off their chairs😂.)Of course, I would still review the results afterward, make a proper report, and check for possible mistakes, but it would save a huge amount of time. That is one possible solution. We also have to move with the times.

Another solution would be to create a poll on the forum and ask the community what they think. A kind of referendum. That would be a fair way to establish clear rules that everyone agrees on.Beyond that, I think we could go even further by creating a contribution system with real incentives. The more people contribute, the more they unlock, whether that means access to exclusive or premium content from dedicated creators, more visibility, or even the occasional license reward for top contributors.

Right now, the community feels very individualistic. There are a lot of talented people doing great work, but mostly on their own. That feels like a missed opportunity. If people worked more collectively, things would move faster, more ideas would emerge, and it would naturally encourage more people to create and get involved.

In the end, what we need is clear rules instead of personal interpretations, fewer reuploads and more consistency, better tools to speed up sorting and cleanup, community votes on unclear cases, and real incentives for contributors.

it might just be wishful thinking, and I know it may never happen, but at least I’ve shared my ideas. Who knows, maybe a few seeds will grow.😁

Speaking of votes...
There're several posts on the Feedback page specific to the Games Database that, it not already, everyone may want to look at and upvote accordingly.

Feedback - LaunchBox Games Database

I understand, and that makes sense. To be honest, I wasn’t even aware that these discussions and voting guidelines were already posted there. That might be part of the issue  not everyone has visibility on it.Maybe it could be highlighted a bit more, or shared more widely (for example on social media or in a more visible place reddit etc), so more contributors can actually see it and follow the same direction.

I’m just sharing my perspective here. I don’t have visibility on everything that’s being done behind the scenes, and I’m not questioning the work that’s already been put in. I’m just trying to contribute and help things move forward in a smoother and faster way. ;)
