I am a HUGE fan of attract mode. I love just letting it sit back and run and when I see something interesting I can just walk up, start the game, and start playing. There are some features that would make it that much better: 1. Attract mode history - I often find myself using attract mode for 2 reasons: 1. To have it running in the background and displaying the games and 2. To randomly search through a particular platform until I come across a game I want to play. If I just have it playing in the background, I usually have it running at a 30 second interval (though 40 sec would be optimal) and this is a decent amount of time, but sometimes I'm late to seeing a game or I can't make it across the room quick enough to choose and while I'm looking for a game I usually have it at 10 sec, so the games fly by quickly. It would be awesome if we could just go to a section in the options that will show like the last 50 games that were showcased in attract mode. Then you would never have to worry about getting to it in time or trying to remember a game that passed 2 turns ago. 2. Option to change "# of games per platform": This would allow you to choose how many games you want shown before the platform changes. Just gives you more control over what you want to see. 3. Attract mode filters - This would give us the freedom to keep games in the game list, but filter them from being seen during attract mode. It would be nice if we could say, don't show a certain platform, or don't show mature games, or don't show 2-star and below. That sort of thing. Giving more control over what we want to see. I love attract mode and it can be made even better, thanks for reading!

Hey Faeran, Thanks so much for offering the help and trying to troubleshoot this problem with me, but I got home from work and booted up my PC and everything was fixed. Super weird, but I guess it proves that multiple restarts can help. Thank you!

Hey everyone! I had an issue with Big Box that I can’t seem to get fixed. I’m a pretty veteran user so I know the programs pretty well but this has stumped me. I play everything on a 4:3 monitor that’s perfect, but I was using Big Box last night, just letting attract mode go, when I plugged in my TV to watch a movie on my computer. When I plugged it in, Big Box moved over to the TV monitor and started bugging out like crazy. Resolution kept changing and the screen kept flickering I exited Big Box and fixed it so that my TV was screen 2 instead of screen 1, in Windows, and relaunched the application. When it came back up everything looked fine except that it was no longer displaying clear logos for the platforms or the titles. I fooled around with BB for a while. Cleared caches, uninstalled and reinstalled themes, unplugged the TV completely. Refreshed all the images. Force populated all the images. Deleted all the settings files in the LB folder, restored the BB settings from the backup of the day before, went to the actual cache folder and saw that the clear logos were cached in there, I did a clean install of LB, and NONE of it has worked. I’m just not sure of what else to do and I literally just renewed my subscription for the year. Can someone please help me get this figured out? I can’t stand looking at this and not being able to tell what I’m selecting.

Hello! I love this theme, but I plugged my TV and my computer adjusted that to the main picture and it messed everything up. I can no longer see the clear logos at all. I have tried everything. I used the repair. I completely uninstalled and re-installed. I have used the refresh images option and the force populate all images option. I went in and completely deleted the cache for BB. I deleted all the settings for BB (which that screwed a lot up and thank God I had a backup) I restored a backup of yesterday and that didn't work. I'm just at a loss. This was my absolute favorite theme and I'm going to spend hours trying to get it back to working. Can you help me? '

Hello, I absolutely love this product. Loved it before my license. Really love it now that I’ve had a license for 2 years. But I had everything on a hard drive that was knocked off the computer while Big Box was going. I rushed over to put it back and plug it back in and thankfully the explorer popped up for me to enter the folder. The problem, though, is that everything was there except the launchbox folder. I had everything in there too. All the games and emulators. All of it. I was heated. But I’ve made my way back to having everything (and I will be backing up this time with a separate HD that’s stored correctly). The problem is, Launchbox is only recognizing SOME of my videos. I’m very familiar with how Launchbox recognizes the names of the games vs name of the videos and they should all be good, but they aren’t. So my questions are: 1. How do you get LB to scan for new videos? 2. I have thousands and thousands of games on here and, since it’s not every video of the platform, I can’t tell just from looking which ones don’t have an associated video. I’ve never been able to get videos to play in LB. I see the “auto play videos” option (or something like that) but I still don’t see the videos. So, can you play videos in LB? 3. Can LB generate a list of games that don’t have a video, because you can filter by games that do but not games that don’t have a video. I appreciate any help that can be provided. Thank you!

You should only have to press “enter” or the general enter button on your controller.

Not sure if it was something I did or if it just works now, but for me joyToKey wouldn’t work and no search offered a solution so here is what I have In the MAME settings (in the manage emulators) the default command line is set to -keyboardprovider dinput Then I set up joytokey to auto-associate the MAME profile when MAME is launched from here if you open MAME by itself the joytokey will not work You have to open it from launchbox then you should be good! edit: I’m also using MAME 224

Hey man this might sound stupid, but do you have anything typed in the search bar up top left?

It happens when you change the name of a platform or change folders around. I found out the hard way that if you need to change what platform a game is on or need to change a platform in anyway that you should just delete everything and start from scratch. I went through this same headache for over a week because I did this on multiple platforms back to back. The best advice I can give you Is to delete everything from that launchbox platform. Download and use this to delete the extra letters. Then re import. https://www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk good luck buddy

Well I think I figured it out. At some point a few weeks ago I added theme videos to the arcade category. Everything was working fine, but I assume that is because I haven’t played a game in the arcade category for quite some time. I started playing some today and the system stopped at some point to do something with missing media and after that the system flipped out. I didn’t like the theme videos anyway so I was just removing them while I was waiting for a reply here. Now that the theme videos are gone things have gone back to normal. Not sure why that made it freak out, but oh well, I personally don’t care, but someone else might if someone still wants to solve the problem and figure out why that was causing the issue.

I used the repair theme option and that seemed to work for a second, but ended up having the same problem.

I have no clue what is going on. It just happened all of a sudden. When I go into the arcade platform and try to select a game it freezes for a second and then basically keeps the controls frozen and then moves on into attract mode. I have tried restarting big box. I have tried restarting my computer. I have tried refreshing all the images. I’m really sweating here because I put a lot of time, money, and effort into this thing and now it’s now working all of a sudden! Can someone please help me?
